The Melting Pot - Lyndhurst Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I totally enjoyed our experience at the Melting Pot! Our server was very helpful in making our experience memorable. I love the partitioning between booths for privacy and the low lighting that made the meal feel more romantic. The seasoning on the food as well as the dipping sauces were unique and among the better things that I have ever tasted. (My only "complaint" is the price overall-- I would want to visit more often, but the expense I think is through the roof if there isn't any discount or help like a Groupon!)
We checked in early then watched as 5 other parties, who came in after us, got seated first. Our reservations were for 5:45. We got seated around 6:20. I went to ask the hostess why this was happening and she seemed to have no recollection of us checking in (although she did check us in and said we will be seated shortly). She then barely apologized, promptly had us seated, then we had mediocre service from our server. Overall, probably the worst experience we've ever had there. Looks like there are some management issues.
Food & atmosphere were great. But the service was terrible. There were 2 of us, seated at 4:30 to a half-filled restaurant, with a price fix menu (New Years Eve). We were there for almost 2 hours, due to our slow waitress. We waited for about 20 minutes in between the appetizer and the salads. Someone else brought the salads, so a good 30 minutes went by w/o even seeing our waitress. Why on earth would it be so slow with a fixed menu? We can say for certain it was just our waitress because the couple next to us arrived probably 45 minutes after us, but received entrees at the same time we did (and they ordered the same thing we did). It was an expensive meal, so I was pretty annoyed overall.
My fiancee and I are newly engaged and wanted to do a post-engagement celebration. We got engaged in NYC and all was well until the restaurant I chose to celebrate at in NYC forgot my request for a celebratory surprise dessert. Unfortunately, we went through that again but at the Melting Pot. They usually bring out a surprise dessert for our anniversaries but they didn't for our engagement. The only thing we received was a congratulatiry card from the hostess. Although the server was very friendly and food was delicious, this was very upsetting.
Our service was awful this evening. Server forgot to turn burners on to heat things up. He also brought our main course cooking oils and then didn’t bring the meats for at least 15 minutes. He explained nothing about cook times. Our glasses set empty numerous times. The bus boy asked us to clean up the dishes and pass them down to him once we were finished eating. We ended up clearing our own table, over burners that were still hot.
For dessert, the server served everything on cold burners. We asked if things were all melted and ready and he assured us they were brought to the table warm and all set. Al three dipping sauces for dessert were cold.
I planned a surprise party for my best friend, and ended up choosing the Melting Pot for dinner; and that was the perfect choice! The staff was incredible and kind, and our waiter helped us to get the best deal for eight people. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere allowed us to have a great time.
Food was great. Presentation was nice too. Restaurant was DEAD. It was late on a Sunday night and all the stores near here were closed already. I think that made for a quiet night. Our server only had our table and service could have been a bit better but It was decent. I was not happy that gratuity was automatically added to our party of 5. We are not teenagers, we would have left a nice tip but I hate when it is automatically added at a high percentage. Not sure I'd go here again. We live far away, I'll try the pittsburgh location next time. It has proven better in the past.
We’ve been going to Melting Pot restaurants in various states for years. I feel generally like the quality has gone downhill, as have the portion sizes. Our cheese wasn’t particularly tasty or well blended, and while we asked for and paid for the Great Lakes beer option, which is supposed to come with an “official” bottle (remains of which you can drink), we got a small portion of some indeterminate beer. Dessert pieces tasted heavily refrigerated if not partially frozen. I hope they can get their act together because when they are “on,” we really do enjoy MP.
Took my girlfriend here for her birthday, and it was a great choice. Large booths with tall backs so you actually get privacy from the surrounding tables. Service was incredible. The menu is a little complex, and our server took the time (3 times, because we had a lot of questions), to explain everything. Food was fantastic, and the cocktails were great (didn't skimp on alcohol). I would highly recommend for a special occasion, but not for a quick or cheap bite. Expect to spend good money, and allot at least two hours.
This was our second time at this location. We usually go to the one in Westlake. We use Groupon all the time for Melting Pot. We are very familiar with how it works and how the whole experience works. Our waitress started the evening arguing with us on how the Groupon worked. They then sent the hostess to inquire about how many portions of cheese our party of four would like. We were then told that with the cheese and the chocolate we purchased we would only get the initial dippers provided. We were there for three hours and not once were our drinks refilled, nor did the waitress offer to refill them. We LOVE Melting Pot and brought our friends because they wanted to try it after we had raved about it. We chose this location because it was an equal drive for us all. Never again will I suggest this location. I was not and am not impressed with the staff at this location. The food was still amazing!
The booth behind us kept kicking our backs the whole time we were there and the parents kept letting them do it. We did not say anything not to be rude, but the booths need not be so close together. Not the best experience we had. Food seemed to be rushed and the food we had on table was taken off before we were done?
My husband and I came to the melting pot to celebrate Seeetest Day. We were seated in a booth for 6 with 2 burners and felt like we were under a spotlight because of the bright lighting. It was definitely not the romantic dinner we had hoped for. We typically love the Melting Pot but after driving an hour to get there we do expect a better experience.
Food was good as always. However, we were looking to split and have been there many times and know the appetites of the three of us. We ordered one four course meal, and one shrimp a la carte. The waiter, Ben told us the a la carte did not come with anything, and we said that was fine, we knew. He asked who got the extra salad, which we didn't think was included. We were not going to order extra cheese or dessert, we were fine with what came with the four course meal. We ended up paying am additional $45 for a salad and 2 additional orders of cheese and dessert. I have been there many times and have always been asked if adding extra cheese or dessert, which we never do. We were not happy we were charged the extra when we never asked for it. I have been going to melting pot for years, but will request a different server next time.
Food not worth the price, ravioli were horrible do not recommend them. waited about 10 minutes at the host stand before anyone even saw us. Our server was good and attentive. They should really explain the app for two is double the price, we didn’t even realize and really didn’t need all that food.
