The Melting Pot - Lyndhurst
I don’t mind spending money on a great dinner, but this place is overpriced. The server forgot to take our drink order, then she took food orders for only half our table, and then she forgot to bring our second round of drinks. She was very friendly but not the best server. The atmosphere is dated. Our table and utensils did not feel very clean. The cheese and chocolate fondues were delicious, however. Our bill was $225 for four people — one was a child, and another only had a salad. Ridiculous.
wonderful food and worth every penny!
Fun for family gathering. Social distancing was no problem.
I would go on a weekday. We waited an awful long time for our waitress to come and go.
Overall I would say our experience was good but not great. The table was not very clean as there was a lot of grease around the burner. Our waitress was very friendly but the service was very slow. We ordered cocktails right away and we did not get them till our first course was served. It also seems as though portions were very small for the price. The vegetables that were served with the entrée fondue course looked old and were very sparse. I have been to the melting pot in Pittsburgh and it seems much better than this one.
This used to be one of our go-to’s for a special night out. It has really gone downhill over the past few years. The produce quality is poor (brown lettuce in the salads, spongy soft carrots, old overripe strawberries). The cheese is no longer prepared at the table. The wine flight was not matched to the courses, one was missed, so two of the dessert wines were offered. Portions are small for the price, but it used to be worth it for the dining experience. This was our last visit.
Melting pot is just fun. Skip the entree phase. Go for cheese fondue and dessert and spend the entree money on drinks
We love coming here! But this time around was little underwhelming. A little dirty table and silverware. Busy service but understandable in today’s environment.
Always a great experience. The portion sizes seem to be getting smaller and smaller each time we go there. The quality was great as always.
Food was great but was there for over 3 hrs
Nice. Left full!
During these trying times, it was really great to finally go dine in at my favorite restaurant. I have severe anxiety, so it was a relief to see the safety measures being taken to keep everyone safe as possible!
It was really just OK. The food wasn’t worth the price at all. Our server was fantastic though.
It was great. We had a wonderful time. Staff member were great. Will come back again.
It was a good time with my wife for our anniversary. The operation seemed disjointed. Nobody seemed to know exactly what they were doing. The Manager seemed to be in over his head. Most of staff seemed a little lackadaisical and not on top of things. I think they must have been new and will get better with time.
This was a wonderful experience! Took my mom for her first experience and it was amazing. We couldn't have been happier or had more fun! We don't live close but will absolutely be going back anyway!
Always a great experience. The wait staff is very knowledgeable.
Birthday birthday birthday.
The melting pot is a very good place for a date. Each of the booths are pretty secluded so you have a lot of privacy and the food and cooking styles are unique and a fun experience!
Overall it was an excellent experience!
The experience was a 4/5. The service was a little off. That could be because of the COVID , overall it was a very nice dinner .
Food was poor, except for the fiesta cheese. When asked how my birthday dinner went I was honest with server and said it was ‘just okay’ her response was well I hoped you had at least a somewhat decent time. Service was slow, but I imagine everyone is getting accustomed to new policies with reopening. The service and food has really gone downhill the last few times we have dined at the Melting Pot.
Service was amazing!!
Great meal! So nice to be able to go in and relax and enjoy the fondue! Very clean. Service was fabulous
Melting Pot is a fantastic place to go for a “socially distant” evening — high dividers between booths, patrons spaced sufficiently apart, you cook your own food... what more could you ask for? Food was very good, service also quite good.
Might be a new policy, but the servers calling “corner” when moving around a corner is very annoying over the whole course of a dinner. Maybe a motion sensor with a yellow light for “caution” for the server to look at might be better.
Hopefully masks don’t last long either...
Graduation for my 2nd son, it was grest
When we first walked in for our reservation we were asked to wait a few minutes by the host/hostess as they continued their personal conversation of whispering. Then the first table the host offered was right by the front door so we nicely requested a different table. He then took us all the way to the other side of the restaurant just to seat us right next to the kitchen where the door was constantly opening and loudly closing as servers went in and out (and there were many empty tables along the way). We had to return the cheese fondue as it had ingredients we requested them not to use (and were made to feel as though we were bothering them), and the apples slices were old with brown spots. Just an overall disappointing experience.
We LOVE the Melting Pot! My daughters 22 birthday and we have quaritined strictly bc my daughter has cancer and we have been protective. The ad came that it was open. When I called to ensure safety I was told each group will have their own room. They assured me no one else would be in the same room as us, 25 percent occupancy. So I made reservations. Our reservations were at 6:45. The service was so slow I got the check at 9:50. The first hour we were there and ordered, we did not get all the beverages ordered! When we got the pots of cheese, base and chocolate, each time...the bread, meets and sweets did not come for a while later! And the Touchless serving the cheese base and chocolate were preheated/melted. It was so strange. We asked for more refills which did not come. For a $400 meal for 6 people, it was absolutely unacceptable. The bartender, (I had to get up and ask for our bill) told me that they only had 2 seasoned people working in the whole place. When we were waiting on our food, multiple times, other waitresses would come by with other tables food walking around trying to find the correct table. I will say we watched the wipe down of a table once people left and they did a good job there. Worst part is we were put in a smaller room and they seated another table of a big party with children in that room after being told there would not be anyone else. They didn’t even put them at the far table and they were caddy corner from us. We love this restaurant but this was a very bad experience. We understand that staff was probably training but our waitress had very little help and didn’t know much. She complained to us as well and said management was doing new things (which we liked like paper menus, and descriptions of cook time on slips of paper for less Waitress interaction I assume.). I am sorry to complain on this review because we usually love it here so much but management needs to know the issues or people may not come back
Great food and great service. Hopefully this ban will be lifted soon so the restaurant can reopen for service.
Engulfed in a sea of garlic-laden air as soon as we walked inside, which never dissipated. Came home needing to wash everything we wore, so that's a big turnoff right from the start.
When I made the res, I stated it was for an 18th birthday, but daughter was not even asked about it, and of course no balloons. Oh well - welcome to adulthood lol.
Even tho we did the 4-course option, being there for 2-1/2 hours was far too long, and not well-paced. Our waiter was covering tables all over the restaurant - short staffing issue from the appearance.
Food is no more and no less than you expect when you go here - you're not going to be awed by the experience, but it's predictably safe.
The service is awful 2+ hours to eat dinner we asked for our drinks before our meal and they came after we were done it is very dirty and the place needs an overhaul and inside
My kids loved the Melting pot.
Green Goddes Cheddar was very tasty.
Reservation was for 5pm. Didn’t get seated until 5:45 which is fine. Took 15 minutes or better to get our drink order. Took 20 min to get our fist on-tray. Overall experience was 3 hours long. That’s not except able. Waiter was slooowww and seemed to talk to other tables for 10 minutes at a time. This is our 3rd time Being here and every time has gotten slower. We enjoy coming here but the over all experience seems to just take forever.
Saturday night was our "maiden voyage" to the Melting Pot. Not knowing what to expect, our dining experience was a very pleasant one. We enjoyed the food. Our server Julie was so very helpful. Julie was very patient with us. Julie was very helpful explaining the menu to us and very attentive to our needs. I would recommend this to our friends. My wife is still trying to figure out how the magician did his card tricks.
Waitress was great! Food was great! Love the romantic booth!
Food and everything was great, server could’ve been better, had to wait a little bit in between courses. Also another table next to us got forgotten about and had to ask for a server.
I took my daughter and her friends for her 13th birthday and our waitress made her day extra special! Always a great experience and great food
