What made our experience each time we have visited is the staff. Always attentive and super friendly.
This last trip it was Nick who made our time here enjoyable. Just a great all around person and he actually likes his job.
Thanks Nick for helping our family enjoy a really enjoyable time.
The only drawback here is parking. If there isn't any on the street it is a mandatory 9.00 valet. But even their staff was friendly, smiling and helpful.
Awesome as always. This was the first time we brought our kids. They loved it. Our 8 year old son said we should come here again tomorrow LOL.
We had a 1:00 reservation but didn't get seated until about 2:00. Our server didn't greet us until 2:15. We loved our server Kate when she did greet us. Still love this Melting Pot and will go back again and again.
It was raining and we got sat upstairs and the roof was dripping on our table. So we had to move. Then we sat and waited for a server for over 15 minutes. The food came quickly and was delicious. The drinks took forever and the server never checked back after he would bring a new course. He was friendly and his recommendations were great but he was mostly absent. GREAT food, good atmosphere, fair service.
My wife and I came here for our 18 year anniversary. Being that it was our first time, we didn't know what to expect. Our waiter was great at explaining how everything worked and gave us plenty of time to make decisions. The entire night was great and the restaurant was kind enough to bring out a plate honoring our anniversary.
Great food and service.
Food fantastic, manager extremely friendly, waiter very nice- my only minor issue was the service. The server was friendly..... just forgetful. We would ask for things he would say “right away” ... then forget. We needed more vegetables and he forgot, we needed New skewers for dessert but we didn’t get them. My husband ordered more fruit and cookies for the remaining chocolate.... never came. The choc started to burn so I turned down the heat.
The waiter was very apologetic and kind.... he was just forgetful. We would go back and try again-
Awesome place to celebrate 2 birthdays!!!, the service was good
This a great place for a dinner date. It is romantic and makes eating super fun. I love the various courses and the food is wonderful.
Bog Night Out is the right choice on the menu. Awesome food. Great service
We were seated downstairs and it was freeeezing! Granted, it was one of the coldest days of the year. The fondue experience is fun, but the food is so and so. Some none fondue options would be nice to have in addition. Dessert was divine!
Server was very accommodating as we had never “fondued” before. Had our cheese fondue erupt with hot water spewing across table- made us a little nervous the rest of the night. Wisconsin cheese was excellent.
Very nice place, also kid friendly. Service and food was great.
We took our 14 year old son for the first time and he loved it! Our server was amazing and attentive. My personal favorite was the cheese and dessert courses! My husband and son loved the teriyaki steak. It had been awhile since the last time we were there. We will definitely be going back very soon.
Wonderful experience. If you do the full four course experience, expect to be there about 2 to 2.5 hours total. Highly recommended.
Always a great time at The Melting Pot La Jolla. The food was great, the service was good, and the experience was overall fabulous.
Belated Valentines dinner♥️
We love the melting Pot !!
Our server was wonderful. Food and drinks were delicious! All completed in very timely manner!
After setting up the reservation for my sons 18th Birthday, I received a phone call, not recognizing the phone number I did not answer it but The Melting Pot left a message that they needed to speak to me to confirm our reservation. I immediately called back and got an automated message that asked I hold while being transferred only no one picked up and the call hug up. I tried 3 more times, my wife tried twice the same night and twice the next morning with either the phone ringing with no answer or the same message with being hung up on. This was strike one . Our reservation was at 7:45 and we arrived at 7:37. We were told it would be just a few minutes and we would be seated. We were called to be seated at 8:10 only to stand at the host stand and wait while the hostess went to check to see if our table was ready. Strike two. I have to say, the service was spot on. We enjoyed the appetizer cheese, bread, apples & veggies as well as the dessert of s'mores chocolate with cake, brownies, fruit. The main course we did not enjoy as much, if you like boiled steak, chicken, pork, you will love the food but it had no taste, even though the supply you with a variety of dipping sauces. In the past, we were offered more choices (two cheeeses, two types of cooking styles for the main course and two different desserts so it felt more like we received more of a value. This time for the cost (almost $300 including the tip for 4 of us) we don't see the value. If there is a next time, we might try the other location and we'll go for the appetizer and dessert.
We brought two of our closest friends for a special occasion and since neither of them had ever been we really hoped for a great experience. The food itself was great, but the service certainly left a bitter taste in our mouths, even after dessert. Just a few things that went wrong from start to finish, we arrived five to ten minutes prior to our reservation time, once checked in we were told it would be just a few minutes for our table. We were not sat until fifteen to twenty minutes after the reservation time. Everything was fairly smooth through our salads, it was maybe five to ten minutes after we finished that our coq au vin was set before us on the burner. After it was placed, at least twenty minutes passed before anyone checked on our table, when someone came by it was a completely different server who asked if we needed anything. She was very nice and helpful and she brought us our main courses and sauces. Once served she came back awhile later to check on us and one of my friends asked if we could get a new sauce since ours had hair in it, she apologized and was prompt to bring us a new one. About fifteen minutes, give or take, into our main course I noticed that our burner had turned off. It took five or ten minutes of trying to flag someone down before I stood up to find our original server and told her that our burner had been shut off. Apparently this wasn't a simple button to fix and she had to call over a man, maybe a manager, to crawl under our table and fix it, this took another five or ten minutes before they figured it out. After it was fixed we waited another five to ten minutes for it to heat up again and then we finished the rest of our meals and dessert without issue. Overall I spent over $300 and was hoping for a great night with our friends on a special occasion and what we got was a series of problems that continued to detract from the overall experience, overall maybe two out of five.
TLDR: A lot of waiting and lack of service, also a hair
We had to wait 45 min past our reservation because the management did not schedule enough people or overbooked the restaurant. By the time we sat down we were too tired to enjoy the meal. The food was good and the service was ok. But waiting so long for what we got was not worth it
It was my first time there and i loved it, food was great are waiter was the best.
Melting Pot regular, usually love the food and the experience is worth the cost. Visited Feb 13th and was only offered the high priced valentines fixed price menu, but was not informed of that prior. Very disappointed.
Great! Quick service! Loved every second we were there.
Everything was great.
It took a while to get to our table even though we had reservation, but it was ok.
Tony was really helpful and friendly and gave great suggestions for the food.
Would definitely recommend.
Great evening - enjoyed Ladies Night menu offer. Outstanding and friendly waiter- Tony.
Super nice and competent server, Janet, and the staff was very pleasant. The only complaint is that I was told this chain was an upscale place to bring someone for a special birthday. When I got there the place was clean but rather run down. There are nicks all over the wood, it needed paint on the bathroom doors as they are all chipped and the toilet seats were stained and worn out. Also, our booth's fabric was torn and the booth bench did not reach all the way to the wall. There was a gap between the wall and booth which my guest almost fell into while sliding over to make room for others in our party. Pretty bad impression. Did not care for the entree, but the bread and cheese appetizer and the chocolate fondue dessert was a lot of fun to eat and tasted good. I'd go back for those but only super casually - not for anything special.
The reservation we made through Open Table was virtually ignored. We had to wait 45 minutes past our appointed time to be seated. Service was a little slow. Inefficient. I summoned the Manager to express our disappointment, but he said there was nothing he can do. Probably won’t return. Food was pretty good.
My wife’s birthday dinner. Josh was our server. He did an outstanding job and the food was great. He brought us what we asked for and kept it coming. I had chocolate dipped strawberries too for my wife. It’s $30 extra for the strawberries. Overall a great restaurant and fun to play with your food while you eat. Only bad part was one woman sitting a few booths away kept talking on her phone sort of loud but the rest of the restaurant was quiet as we went early at 4:30pm to beat the crowd. Very nice for special occasions. We will be back.
Everything was delicious and the service was terrific! So fun to come here!
We loved the service overall and we enjoyed our server Jonah very professional he has excellent attencion and service skills. It was a just because date/outing with my sister whom works 12 to 16 our shifts. I wanted to treat her to something good with extra special attention and we both were extremely satisfied with my Melt Pot dinner choice.
After the salads, waited more than 30 minutes, no food no waiter. Ready to get up and walk out, but wife chickened out so had to flag another wait staff to get our food. Nothing spectacular foodwise, first plate of filet mignon and marinated beef were tender, not so for the second plate. Very disappointed.
We have been here before, so knew what to expect and what we wanted to order.
Only complaint that I have is that the service was uneven, We had the 4 course dinner. Took a long time to have our order taken. We finished first course 1 hour after our sit down time. Next two courses came in reasonable time, but dessert course took extra long. Entire dinner took 3 hours and we were not not slowing by extra long conversation
We used to go to the Pasadena CA location before they closed. There food quality was great and we received a good amount of food to cook. In the past few years it seems they have reduced the quantity of food you receive and have lowered the quality of the meats. We followed their instructions on how long to cook each meat by timing it on our phones while cooking. Everything came out dry and tasted bland. They give you about 10 different dipping sauces which we ended up dunking our food into just to somewhat enjoy the meal. We ordered the Classic meat and the Surf & Turf. There prices are high, and you definitely do not get what you pay for. The La Jolla location was a big disappointment.
We were seated 20 minutes after our reservation time, only to walk past several open tables. After being seated it took another 15 minutes to get drinks, and this trend continued. After 2 hours of dining, we had just finished our salads (course 2 of 4). We asked the waitress to cancel the remaining courses and left.
Food was amazing! Service was excellent!
For what you pay, the portions weren’t really worth it. The waitress was very attentive when it was only a few people, and then we were forgotten about. It was annoying to constantly have the hostesses walking by us every few minutes, to check if we were almost done. It was hot where we sat as well.
Our waiter Jonah was the best! Entertaining, friendly, and on top of it all. And we appreciated not being rushed at all even though they where closing.
We have been coming here for years, the atmosphere, food, and staff are always amazing.
