The Melting Pot - Kansas City Ratings and Reviews
We had never been to the Melting Pot before and didn't realize it was more of an experience than a dine-in meal. We had a tight window of time before our daughter performed at Crown Center, so our server, Jacob worked to make sure we experienced all of the Melting Pot experience without feeling rushed. He even gave us coupons to come back after the performance to complete our dinner with the dessert course that we didn't have time for. The food was great, and was a wonderful evening! But Jacob was the best!
1st time to this restaurant- the overall appearance of restaurant was dirty! The floors were very unkept! Our table was still dirty & very sticky from last seating before us! Our new CLEAN napkins & silverware were covered in crumbs & shredded cheese & our chairs were crumbed and 1 chair had sticky drips still on it - I asked to have table cleaned again & new silverware then to be told by waiter the dark granite makes it difficult to know if table is clean - REALLY!! Very shocked by it all - I would love to go try again but for the expense I’m still just shocked hope to go & have a better experience another time!
We had a reservation, but still had to wait about 15 mins for our table. After getting to our table we had to wait another 10 mins before our wait staff greeted us. After informing the wait staff that we had theater tickets, (we had allowed 2 hours for dining), we still experienced slow service. By the time our cheese course (appetizer) had arrived, we had been at the restaurant for 60 mins. Immediately after receiving our cheese course I requested the check which took another 20 mins to sort out. Lastly, one of our guests ordered a beer that was never deliver and yet it showed up on the check. We had a very poor experience and won’t plan to visit again.
Food was great but our dinner took almost 3 hours. Our server would disappear for long periods of time, my water only got filled once and it was at the time we were paying our check. We would sit for 20-30 mins between courses just waiting for our server to come back and bring us the next option. It was my 8 year old daughters birthday and she was getting restless by the end of it. If the service had been better it would have been an outstanding night. Food was great though, but considering we do all the work at the table I don't know what else to say other than it was quality ingredients.
We had a great time taking our 4 and 6 year old boys for their first fondue. The manager was excellent and brought out corn chips for the boys to dip in cheese rather than the veggies. Staff was engaged in the whole table making our experience very enjoyable.
The melting pot is an over-priced experience. No one can seriously go for the food. We were there for two and a half hours and saw our waiter 4 times. We were always out of water and someone else brought what I consider the most important course of the meal - the meat without good cooking instructions.
We can here while in Kansas City on our honeymoon and we could not have been more pleased! The service from Sam was wonderful and the food was so good! My husband and I really enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to returning the next time we are in town!
Went out for a date evening with my wife and ordered the Wednesday special (4 course dinner for 2 with wine for $99, an excellent deal). We both enjoyed the house moscato. We chose the alpine cheese fondue for the first time, which turned out to be an excellent choice and probably our favorite part of the meal. Loved the experience and the food, as always. Not our first dinner and definitely not our last. The 4 course does last a couple of hours, so budget time accordingly.
This place has been talked up to us, which is why we chose our anniversary to be our first time here. Huge let down! Wait staff was less than helpful, the entree was a pain (and not that good), it was fairly noisy, and the booth was a mess! My partner got chocolate on the seat of her pants from the booth that was dirty when we got into it! I spent $197 on a mediocre dinner. The best tasting thing was the wine, which is not an attribute of the restaurant, they merely sell that vintage. First and last time there.
This is my first time going in all the years I have lived here. It was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious and our waiter was more then accomodating. Prompt service and excellent service. I would highly recommend to anyone and will go back as well.
So I reserved my table early specifically because it was my bday and we had three couples coming. (With 2 people that had severe food allergies)They didn’t have the table available when we got there and they could have easily reached me and let me know beforehand. Then our reservation was at 7pm and it took them 40 minutes to bring us water. Between each course after we finished we just sat at our table for about 20-30 minutes before they would start the course. We didn’t leave until after 10. My entire party was squished in a booth and the cooking experience was crowded because of the lack of burners. It was awful and it was my bday. I’ve been several times and never did it take over 3 hours to get out of there and we DIDNT EVEN DO THE CHOCOLATE COURSE! Ruined my birthday.
I always have a great experience at the Melting Pot. The food was delicious and our waiter Gabe was AMAZING. Very engaged, friendly and charismatic! The only part I was slightly disappointed about was the seating. I very much so enjoy the secluded booths, but this time we sat in the booths near the open tables. The noise level was higher and it wasn't as secluded and personal as I usually prefer that. Still would return a thousand times over! My favorite restaurant.
Definitely not a noisy restaurant, great for a date and quiet and intimate conversation. Great drinks great food. The selection is good across-the-board no matter what you go with. I've eaten there twice I will eat there again and I would definitely recommend
