This has become a favorite spot for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. The food is amazing, the servers are very good at what they do, and it is an overall very fun experience. The tables for special occasions feel very secluded and are very quiet. Highly recommend to anyone.
This was mine and my girl friends first time at Melting Pot. I arrived 5 minutes early to check in and was told to wait at the bar until the rest of them to arrive. I proceeded to get a drink and ordered a Cesar salad while I waited. Ten minutes go by I have my drink and still no salad. It was not busy at the time. My friends arrived and bartender said that they would deliver my salad to our table. Sure, ok. We are seated waited about tens minutes for our server to introduce and to get drink orders, we also asked for waters all around. Still no salad. We had plans at 7:00pm and mentioned that to our server at 6:00pm. It took 15 minutes for drinks and we only received two out of the for waters we asked for and it wasn’t even our server that delivered the drinks. He was helping another table with their fondue setting. Still no salad. I ordered my salad at 5:50 and turned into a 45 minute wait for a regular house Cesar salad, that looked like it sat in the window, weak. When my salad did arrive we had to ask for our checks because we felt it would take sometime before we would finally get those. Our 7:00pm plans were not far but how our initial experience we decided against ordering anything else.
I felt that we were not well taken care of.
We were not checked on and the things we did get took way to long to get to us. They did not give a reason why it took so long. We are an understanding bunch but this was ridiculous.
I would say we would go back but first impressions were everything. We also said we’ve never been before and were excited to try it.
This is our third overall visit to this particular Melting Pot. My wife and I usually have dinner here for our Anniversary every June, but this time we had my wife’s 40th Birthday dinner here by her request. Even though we will be going back for our 17th Anniversary. A few years back we had Max as our waiter, and he does such an excellent job that we request him whenever we’re going to have dinner there. He has been there for quite a few years, and has an excellent knowledge of the menu. He works there on the weekends including Friday, and we would highly recommend him as your waiter. This time we had a booth in the back, that was secluded and away from everything. It was very quiet, relaxing, and romantic. The food was excellent as always. I suggest that you make sure to give yourself 3 hours for dinner, in order to pace your meal just right. If not you’re going to be trying to cram 4 whole courses down in a relatively short amount of time. Plus come hungry, because you will leave stuffed. My wife’s favorite is the Steak Lover’s, which is 4 cuts of steak, and I usually like to get The French Quarter, which is Filet, andouille, 4 large shrimp, and I always substitute the chicken for the duck, and all meat is marinated in Cajun spices. Dessert is usually not hard to debate because both of our favorites is the Yin and Yang, which is a mixture of white, dark, and milk chocolate. I would also recommend getting an add on plate to at least split. It has a slice of varying cheesecake, 2 cream puffs, 2 pirouette cookies, and a dish of fresh sweet raspberries, and blackberries.
The food was great but the service wasn’t as good as I expected. It took quite some time for our server to come to introduce himself and then even longer for him to come back and take our order. He was helpful when answering questions and was a fun nice server but took way to long.
Food was ok, service definitely not good. There were only about 5 tables of customers in the restaurant but we sat for over 1/2 hour waiting for our drinks and starters. Lots of laughter from the kitchen though, so the staff was enjoying themselves. Had to get up and ask for the waiter as the pots that he had started on the table had dried up and were burning. Every course was like that, a lot of waiting. Took 2 hours and 45 minutes... for that wait I expect much better food and service.
My wife and I love the Melting Pot. We have enjoyed the restaurant many times over the previous 5-6 years. The last couple of times have been a little odd, however. About a month ago, I turned 30 and my wife took me there for dinner. We arrived a little bit before our scheduled reservation, about 10-15 min. As we were waiting we realized that people who had reservations after us were being sat before us. This was the first time this had happened so we did not think much of it. This past weekend was my Wife's birthday and we went to the Melting Pot once again. The same thing happened. We arrived 10-15 before our scheduled reservation and people who had a reservation after us were sat before us. I only knew that because the couples sat before us specified their reservation time. This was incredibly annoying. Not only that, I specified Standard seating and NOT high top but they attempted to sit us at a high top table. After I said something, they did accommodate us and sat us in a couples booth, which was nice. Luckily, the food and the waitress made up for everything. We love the Melting Pot but were thrown off by this happening two separate times.
Not only did we get handed off to another waitress mid evening, but it seemed we were forgotten more often than remembered. Took 45 minutes to take our order. Entire meal (cheese, meat and dessert) took 3.5 hours. We even skipped one course and took our salads to go! We were there for my birthday and they didn't give me the 6 chocolate covered berries from my rewards email. I even called ahead like the email requested. It was so ridiculous, all we could do was laugh. I don't recommend, unless you are only going for dessert. Even then, expect to be there for 3 hours.
It was an enjoyable experience, though we only wanted the entrée, and our waiter didn't bother asking if we wanted the entrée or the 4 course. And not to put all the blame on him, we should have said something. The cheese was great, the broth had very little flavor, we took the chocolate home, though it would have been nice to have directions as to how long the chocolate should be heated for. Apparently one minute is too long. It's definitely a place to go if you have the money to spend. The 4 course dinner ends up being nearly $50 after tip.
we were in town for a sporting event and we were thrilled to dine at Melting Pot. It is one of favorite restaurants and the location closest to us closed. We enjoyed a fabulous meal and Nick was a terrific server. He recommended some items on the menu different from our “usual” and they were fantastic!
The food was good, but not worth the price. Also because my daughter doesn't like salad we didn't order her the four course meal. It cost us $10 more just so she didn't have a salad. The server should have told us it would be more. She could have easily just not eaten the salad when it came and saved money. This place isn't cheap so to waste money which could have been avoided annoyed me.
Overall the food was good and the service was ok, but not worth the price. If we go again we will probably just do dessert.
Melting Pot hosts a Ladies Night and the entire restaurant was filled and the atmosphere was energized, as one would expect. We enjoyed the activities prior to dessert and were impressed at the unique services and products. The service was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed a leisurely Land and Sea dinner. The fondue experience is perfect for a relaxed dinner, where there is plenty of time to converse. And what’s better than a delectable dark chocolate fondue and a generous plate of creative food items to dip and savor!
We have been going to The Melting Pot restaurants for over 30 years. Our first experience was on our honeymoon in Clearwater Florida. We typically go for our anniversary. This year our Daughter and Son in law gave is a gift card to The Melting Pot. We have been to this one in Grand Rapids before and were not very impressed. But we were positive because our other visits to this franchise has been very good.
We were seated in a very cramped cubical booth. We had no view of anything and were right next to the bathrooms. I'm 6'2" and I found no room for my legs. Our server was pleasant but did not do a good job of checking on us. We found ourselves waiting for long periods of time between courses. At one point I had to go searching for her. I never found her and when I asked another server where she was he didn't know either. When she did come back she was very rude.
We have decided not to return to this restaurant. If you do go I would suggest you ask for a regular booth.
had reservations for 915 arrived at the restaurant at 910 informed the hostess I had a 915 reservation for VanVolkinburg, she replied ok it would be just a few minutes. after observing several parties arrive and be seated I began to wonder how far they were behind on the reservations. after chatting with another patron and he informed me they didn't have a reservation he was seated I then asked the hostess why I had been waiting for over 20 minutes for my reserved table as it was now after 930. she said she was sorry but the other hostess put me down as just a waiting for table available, I clearly reminded her she was the one I specifically spoke to not the other hostess that she had been chatting with, laughing with and playing on their phones with. food was awesome and waiter was very informative about everything. Besides the wait of 20 minutes both times a beer was ordered ( it shouldn't take 20 minutes to pop open a bottle of beer) the service from the waiter was good.
My husband and I had a wonderful time at our dinner tonight! Everything was delicious and perfect! Chris is an amazing server, he's an awesome people person and he made sure we were well taken care of! His suggestions were tasty as well when asked to surprise us with a drink of his choice!
Very disappointed. My husband and I were finally able to make a trip to the melting pot and have been looking forward to going here for awhile. Our reservation was for 8 PM made a couple weeks in advance. When we arrived were were greeted by one of the three hostesses and told out table would be ready in just a moment as they were cleaning it off. 35 minutes later we were finally seated. We looked the menu over and the food sounded really good so we were very excited. After 25 minutes of sitting at the table watching servers walk by we ended up leaving without ever being greeted. We were so bummed! We spent an entire hour in the restaurant without ever being able to even get a water and left hungry. My husband was the most disappointed because this was what he had planned for us to celebrate our first Valentine's day as a married couple.
My boyfriend and I came out to celebrate Valentine’s Day. We got seated right at 7:30 but it took a total of THREE HOURS to fully serve us our four course meal. Missed our 10:45 movie time and sat there for two hours waiting for our uncooked meat to come out so we could cook it ourselves. Server was kind and pleasant. Very quiet. Asked other server if he was new- turns out he had been around for a while. Below par service & personality. Never once did our server physically refill our drinks in the 3 hours we were there. Other servers did it for him. Asked a few times for a couple extra dippers- dippers never arrived. Never did our server ask us how our food was tasting. Terrible conversationalist. Impressive knowledge of the food and his job- lack of social interaction and personality. I watched a couple kitty corner from us be sat and never greeted. The couple sat there for a total of about 10 minutes and left because they had gone unnoticed. Will not be coming back for a long time.
Not sure if place was understaffed or employees were having an off night? Please work on training your team members to improve their communication with their tables and speed.
Beautiful resuraunt. Have never had a problem here before- this last visit has left a very sour taste in my mouth.
