The Melting Pot - Grand Rapids Ratings and Reviews
My husband treated me to the Grand Rapids Big night out for my 41st Birthday. The four course meal was fantastic and I paired it with the suggested wine for each course. This place is perfect for a romantic birthday dinner. Make sure you make a reservation early, this place is very busy on weekends.
Everything was excellent. Seating was tight for big people. The server we had was excellent! She was patient and engaging and explained everything well for those of us who have never been there before. One recommendation, explain how your meals work on your website. If I hadn't had a friend who had been there, I wouldn't have gone. Anniversary package was well worth it!!
I went for a date, but it was ladies night, so I think it was a bit louder than normal. The tables were a bit small for 2 people as just the plates and sauces had to be constantly sorted in order to share. All in all, a great place to eat, but not unless it's discounted as $100+ is too much for what you get for 2 people. Our server was nice, but seemed like she had too many tables to give the attention that I've had there before (for $50 a plate, they really shouldn't appear to be in a hurry, in my opinion) . If the place had a more reasonable price tag, i would happily come back.
Went for a date. We got seated in a small cozy booth that set a nice tone to our meal. Our server was great. He was very polite, chipper, and helpful. The food was great and it’s just a fun experience overall. It does take a long time to get through a meal so leave plenty of time!
We really enjoyed this unique experience. It's been a long time since we did fondue. The food was very good as was the ambiance. Our waiter, Chris, took very good care of us. All the staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this establishment to friends, especially for a special occasion as it is a little pricey.
The table where we were seated was a high top table, in the very back corner. It seemed like it was an add on, and we were just pushed to the back corner. Our waiter was good, but could have brushed up on the deals a little bit (I knew more about them than he did) but he was super nice and pretty easy to talk to. Food was excellent. Love that the apples are local (Robinettes).
I visited the Melting Pot about a month ago and didn’t have the greatest experience due to lengthy times between courses and the long wait to be seated when I had reservations. But the manager reached out to me and made things right. I gave it another try and it was a great experience. I am glad I went back. We will definitely be going back again. Thanks Chelsie!
We enjoyed our meal. Service was thorough and efficient but not friendly. I would not recommend the tuna but the shrimp was excellent. Our teenage son loved the entire experience and every part of his meal. It was a special day for us so we wanted to end it with a memorable meal. I’m glad we came even with the couple of things that weren’t perfect. It’s pricey but you get a lot of food. You won’t leave hungry.
Had dinner here tonight and everything was fantastic! My boyfriend and I were both first timers and were beyond pleased with the food and the service. We both agreed we would go back simply because of the service though. I can't remember our servers name but he was by far the kindest and understanding human being in the entire planet. I swear it. He made the experience 120% more enjoyable and he definitely deserves a management position, or at least a raise!
I had a reservation set for 7:30 and we showed up at 7:15 just in case we could get seated early (no big deal if we couldn’t). However we were not given a table until just after 8:00 which is not acceptable.
The potatoes, meat and broccoli were in such large pieces it took forever to cook thoroughly. I have been here a few times before and it was not like this.
It took forever to get our food and drinks. We were afraid to ask for anything additional because we thought it was going to add an extra hour to our night. The time between courses was also painfully long.
For what we paid to experience a great night we do not have any plans on returning.
Our server's name was Ryan and he made sure we had a fantastic four course experience for a date night. We didn't quite expect to spend three hours at a restaurant, but it was worth it. The food was great and definitely not something you will find elsewhere. We will, without a doubt, be back!!!
Was a perfect choice for a double date. Cozier feel with the high back long booths and wonderful patient pace of both food and time to fill 2 hours easily. We had the three course option and we all felt stuffed when we left. I recommend the old Bay cheese option, coq au Vin cooking style, and dark chocolate with Bailey's for dessert.
Food and staff were both great. My only gripe is the prices seem excessive, like I get it, it's a fancy place and it's not going to be a cheap meal but for being melted cheese and a couple of very small pieces of meat it feels like you're being gouged a little bit.
Also the menu isn't super comprehensive, I assume this is on purpose so people spend more money than they need to.
Fun time cooking the food, but I hope you have all night for your meal. We go here because my daughter loves to cook the food and it is entertaining. But tonight they may have given me a reason not to come back. Service was especially dismal. It actually took 3 hours for dinner and this is not a 4 star restraunt. My wife and I laughed when they blamed it on the kitchen, not sure how much cooking goes into chopping up raw meat and vegetables. The manager did come by and apologize plus discounted the meal, but I will need to be convinced by my daughter if I am ever to go back.
This place is the best, one of my favorites for YEARS! We live in Kalamazoo, and it's so good-we're willing to drive over an hour just for the experience. One of my first choices for ANY special occasion, or 'just because' they're running a great special. Fondue, I love it, and they really have it down to a science
Thank you! I received a reservation confirmation call within 10 minutes of my on-line reservation. They asked if there was a special occasion for the dinner and quickly gave me options to make the Birthday dinner special. This is the level of customer service that has fallen by the wayside! Bravo!
Fantastic! We were celebrating our anniversary and they no longer have the angry cocktail sauce that is my favorite sauce there. The waiter went in back and made some for me because I told him how much I loved it. Now that's service. Atmosphere is romantic and food was delicious as always.
The bread was stale and vegetables were browned. Was very disappointed. We wanted to take our kids for a fun treat and it wasn't good. The chocolate fondue was good but after the cheese was taken away we waited over 30 minutes for the chocolate and they weren't that busy at all! Disappointing all around.
We had an eightieth birthday and two other birthdays celebrating together with a group of seven people. We ordered our selections in advance and had all fondues prepared at the table. It was a fun experience and while it took us two and a half hours from start to finish, it was well worth the time spent. We had attentive waitresses even though two other groups were also being served. It is a great place for a special occasion such as ours.
