The Melting Pot - Grand Rapids Ratings and Reviews
We had a nice time. For 6 of us, the booth seating was not conducive. The seats were deep and it wasn’t worth continuously reaching over everyone to try the ‘other’ pot. A round table would have been better. The mule from the bar was made with a can of gingerbeer that was flat. It was corrected but should have been right the first time for the price. Our server was admittedly new-fine, but kept telling us what she DIDN’t know instead of what she did. We were there for 3 hours, a full hour after closing and we could tell there was some rush at the end. The guy overseeing the new employee was trying to straighten things out as we went and was very nice about it. The food was great, the time with my family was wonderful, the experience was new but I think next time for the price we might only come for dessert. A party of 4 would probably work better
My sister and I met for dinner at the Melting Pot. We were seating near the door and could feel a huge cold draft coming through every time the door was opened. My toes were numb after eating dinner. We heard others walking by our table saying it was "20 degrees colder out here". We asked to be moved to a different table for the last course. Our request was accommodated but only after some confusion. The server was not clear on how we would be charged for what we ordered (we decided to order ala carte). What he said was the opposite of what was printed in the menu.
Always a favorite for me and my other half. We go for anniversaries and birthdays. This last one was a reward from my job and we were able to pick where we wanted to go for a great meal and we choose Melting Pot without hesitation! I have never been anything other than satisfied when we leave. The entire staff is friendly and delightful. Truly a great place to go!
I’ve been to the Melting Pot many times before and have always enjoyed my experience, whether it be just dessert or the full dining experience. My fiancé has never been and I thought, since it was our first New Years together it might be fun to get dessert before heading out to our festivities for the night. I booked the reservation with no warning that NYE they only offer the full dining menu. We showed up for our reservation only to be disappointed that we couldn’t dine unless it were the full 5 course menu. Our service as great for the single glass of wine that we ended up getting but just a little disappointing we didn’t get to enjoy the night like it was intended.
The service was ridiculously slow even for a holiday. We were charged for a cocktail we didn't order but didn't even bother to have our server fix the bill because it would have taken so long. I called ahead of time to confirm vegetarian options before making reservations only to discover the night of that they didn't have what they said they would. What they charged for said "vegetarian" meal was insane. I love the food and fondu experience but will never return on a holiday.
New Year’s Eve. Only 2 entree options for $60-70 per person. 2pc of shrimp OR 2 pcs of bread with an 1/8c up of bruschetta was miniscule 1st course. Small salad was iceburg lettuce - no mixed greens - cheap. Cheese fondue was ok. Entree was good but small amt of vegetables. Chocolate fondue was good but very small amt of fruit. Our utensils were not all clean. Extremely overpriced even with the fondue experience.
The menu is unclear, so you end up with too much food and it becomes too expensive. Also, our server was not attentive as he should have been. We had had to ask for silverware and skewers more than once. We had a table of 6 and only 4 napkins and silverware. We paid over $300 for a night out and it should have been a flawless evening. His manager came over and asked us how we were more than he did. She was amazing.
This visit was for my fiance's birthday; he also proposed to me here so it is a special place for us.
I called over a week in advance to set it up, as it was a surprise for him, and was asked if I'd like the cheese fondue to be started by the time we arrived for our reservation--I said yes because we had booked the dinner and a movie deal and the movie was to start just over two hours after our reservation time, and I knew that dinner usually takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours, so I wanted the fondue to be warmed and ready when we got there so we wouldn't risk missing the movie. Unfortunately, they were either short staffed, running slow, or the note about having it ready when we arrived was lost, because it wasn't started until we were already seated. And on that note, we arrived on time for our reservation, but weren't seated until ten minutes after, delaying us even further.
An unexpected plus was that we were seated at the same table he proposed at, so that was a happy bonus!
Our waitress said "Oh they didn't start your fondue...let me get that started for you", and while she was kind and interactive, our service (receiving drinks, food and taking away dishes) was excruciatingly slow. So much so that we did indeed miss our movie start time and had to push the second part of the date night to another night, which we still have yet to utilize because our schedules rarely line up for such things, and we have to plan months in advance to have time together like this...That was highly disappointing.
While we may likely return for anniversaries and the like, I would HIGHLY recommend making reservations well in advance if you have plans afterwards, just in case.
Our meal was very good, our server Brandy, as well as all other staff were very kind and attentive. Overall I was very pleased with our meal and seating. My only complaint would’ve been them seating tables with younger children near us after we had been seated. Will visit again.
Our servers were friendly and attentive int he beginning, but they got a little absent as the night went on. There was hardly any other customers there, so we were surprised at the delay. Would still go back, but they were aware of our unhappiness on the delay and offered no concessions.
We visited for our 11th wedding anniversary. Amanda was our server and she went above and beyond. She was very knowledgeable and very attentive throughout our meal. She even brought us a nice edible anniversary note with dessert.
The food and service were excellent!
Food, atmosphere, and staff attitude were absolutely fantastic. This place meets, and maybe even exceeds, the bar that I expect from any Melting Pot. The manager gave us a call to confirm our reservation. They also asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. Yes we were! A birthday! Melting Pot made our night extra special. They promised to skip the birthday song singing. :)

Always one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I am in town. Its not often as I live 120 miles away, but there is no melting pot / fondue place in my hometown. Impeccable service, have never had anything other than excellent service when at a Melting Pot Restaurant.
My husband treated me to the Grand Rapids Big night out for my 41st Birthday. The four course meal was fantastic and I paired it with the suggested wine for each course. This place is perfect for a romantic birthday dinner. Make sure you make a reservation early, this place is very busy on weekends.
Everything was excellent. Seating was tight for big people. The server we had was excellent! She was patient and engaging and explained everything well for those of us who have never been there before. One recommendation, explain how your meals work on your website. If I hadn't had a friend who had been there, I wouldn't have gone. Anniversary package was well worth it!!
I went for a date, but it was ladies night, so I think it was a bit louder than normal. The tables were a bit small for 2 people as just the plates and sauces had to be constantly sorted in order to share. All in all, a great place to eat, but not unless it's discounted as $100+ is too much for what you get for 2 people. Our server was nice, but seemed like she had too many tables to give the attention that I've had there before (for $50 a plate, they really shouldn't appear to be in a hurry, in my opinion) . If the place had a more reasonable price tag, i would happily come back.
Went for a date. We got seated in a small cozy booth that set a nice tone to our meal. Our server was great. He was very polite, chipper, and helpful. The food was great and it’s just a fun experience overall. It does take a long time to get through a meal so leave plenty of time!
We really enjoyed this unique experience. It's been a long time since we did fondue. The food was very good as was the ambiance. Our waiter, Chris, took very good care of us. All the staff was extremely friendly. I would recommend this establishment to friends, especially for a special occasion as it is a little pricey.
