The Melting Pot - Gaithersburg Ratings and Reviews
I brought three friends to celebrate their graduation and my maid of honor's birthday. They went beyond expected. I loved that they gave her a rose and balloons along with a gift certificate. I am highly pleased by both the food and the service. The manager was very helpful and checked on us twice during our visit. I highly recommend this place especially for special occasions/celebration.
This was my first time at The Melting Pot and I was very pleased, surprisingly. I am a very picky eater. So it's rare that I find a place pleases me. My boyfriend and I left happy with the food and the service. So happy that we went to work the next day suggesting it to people. Thank you for such a great experience.
Overall, it was good and our waiter was pretty good. Noticed a bit of time lapse during the latter part of the meal as he was tending to other tables but still had good customer svc.
When I made the reservation, I noted that my wife was celebrating her 50th bday. Unfortunately, no one at the restaurant, even the hostess or waiter mentioned it. My wife mentioned it a few times but nothing special was asked for or done. The table next to us had something special for their kids bday.
Probably go elsewhere for my sons bday.
I love the Melting Pot and was excited to share it with my daughters who had "earned it" through various things.
The "dipper" portions were so small that I had to ask twice for refills which took a good 20 min to come so the cheese and chocolate got overcooked as I waited plus my kids (and I) got super hungry while waiting. The server kept forgetting about us.
He was friendly and likeable, but didn't clear the table or menus, so our huge table got filled up fast. It was obvious his tables were way too far apart. It was a Wed evening so the place wasn't even crowded.
Our icecream never came though we ordered it first thing as instructed.
It made the whole experience very disappointing. I should have talked to the manager, but it got so late I needed to run home to meet the sitter in time.
Just sad when we were so excited and it's a pricier option.
It was my birthday and my two sons chose this eatery for me (but it's actually their favorite restaurant). The food was very good and we had a relaxing time together. This is a great place for a romantic date. You take your time eating here and no one ever rushes you.
I went to The Melting Pot for the first time. I had the Alpine fondue which tasted authentically Swiss. For the entree I chose from the Premium menu - filet mignon, rubbed pork, and duck. Each morsel of meat takes 2 minutes to cook in the broth which makes the eating slow and frustrating if you are hungry. For dessert, the dark chocolate and Grand Marnier fondue was deliciously paired with all kinds of fruits and cake bits.
Our server was excellent. She explained the menu clearly and it was fun to watch her prepare each fondue pot at the table.
We have been to MP multiple times. This is the first time there was frustration due to the waiter-cheese different consistency, did not confirm salad dressing for house salad when there was a choice, huge inedible lettuce stalk in my friends salad, 3 times to get the bill correct....with clear frustration on his part. Otherwise normal MP experience.
We have been to this restaurant for years and we tend to frequent it for special occasions. We went to celebrate our 36th wedding anniversary and as always it was a great experience. The service was exceptional with our waiter being very attentive without being over bearing. Anything we needed came within a few minutes. We started with lemon drop martini's and cosmos which were very good. We ordered our usual four course meal. We opened with the bourbon bacon cheddar fondue which was awesome. We then each had a salad you have a choice of four and they are all good it just depends what you are in the mood for. We had the land and sea for the main course and finished up with the flaming turtle chocolate fondue. which is our favorite. All give you plenty of portions and if you run our of dipping items and sauces they bring you more its all included. The portions are plentiful so you will not leave hungry if you can finish all four courses so come hungry. Its a great place for small groups or a quiet evening out and they do have a happy hour. We will definitely go back again.
