We visited the Gaithersburg location. It was an okay date night. I felt that they were a little understaffed. I wish our server was more attentive during our dinner. But overall a okay experience.
We haven’t been to Melting Pot in probably 15 years and were so glad we went back! The food was so flavorful and we just had a wonderful night as a family. Service was super slow, but friendly.
Really good food. Terrible service. At first was told they had run out of cheese for cheese fondue. Then they had no clean glasses for drinks. Then they had no cream puffs for dessert. Asked for more vegetables to dip and after we finished eating he said he was sorry he forgot to bring the vegetables. Very long waits to get our drink order.
Very long waits to get more napkins and cutlery.
This restaurant has a major problem with the service they provide every time we go there!!!!
Service and food were great! We go often and have never been disappointed.
The food was good. It was a lovely experience. We truly loved the service. Our Server (Paul) was outstanding. He is a lovely, kind and knowledgeable young man with an incredible positive attitude.
First time at this location but the wonderful experience contiued. Great food, kind service and a great place to enjoy a unique dining experience.
Delicious food but the dinner took 3 hours. We anticipated a long night, but not that long.
Not great service these days. We arrived a few minutes early for our 8:30 reservation on Saturday. We were seated at our reservation time. Our waitress seemed frazzled, but we placed our drink and cheese order immediately. Our waitress brought waters and disappeared for about 10 minutes before coming back to dump the beer base for our cheese. We were treated to the smell of cooking Budweiser for about 15 minutes and wondering if we should go, before she returned with our drinks at minutes until 9. She got my drink wrong (I order a knob creek rye, Manhattan, up - because sometimes they like to make them in a rocks glass) and instead of double of the knob creek rye, served neat.... if you don't understand my order just ask again...
After preparing our cheese waitress was gone again, and the neighboring waitress took over with getting us waters and another drink.
Don't know we'll be back anytime soon.
Our server Paul was excellent & we had a wonderful time!
This place was so good! The food is delicious, and all of our servers were very friendly and accommodating. My friend and I went for restaurant week, which was a great deal; you could pretty much choose anything from their menu! The strawberry almond salad was not what I was expecting (the menu says mixed greens and goat cheese, but we were served romaine and bleu cheese), but everything else was great. I would totally go back!
I love the Melting Pot but very disappointed this visit
We had an amazing time! It surely was a memorable anniversary. Our server, Alexa, made sure that we were well taken cared of.
The service was horrible.. I asked the waitress why we didn’t receive a birthday plate or balloons as I made sure it was a known fact we were there celebrating a birthday, her response…. I was too busy! The manager Anthony stated well she was busy when I called to complain!! Ridiculous!!
Great night out, things were loud were we sat. But otherwise great night out celebrating a friends birthday.
Very nice atmosphere and service. Food was okay, I liked the desert the most but main course wasn’t very tasty to me.
Service was excellent and the help with decisions was great. Wine and cocktails were delicious. All the courses tasted great. We had not dined here in a while and the combinations were great for each of our dietary needs. Our server Alejo was very helpful and attentive. Made our date night very relaxing and enjoyable.
Always a good time when I come here. It's so unique and fun, and the staff is always amazing.
Server was nice enough. But it was 3.5 hours and I had to ask for more dippers….they were stale and server kept saying they are short staff so he had to go cut it up in back.
It was only 4 of us. Then bill was 30 percent more than it was supposed to be bc computer wasn’t calculating correctly. Good thing I caught it!
It was supposed to be a special treat for my daughters and it just fell flat….sub par.
This location just can’t seem to make it happen.
Had a lovely anniversary meal, but was a little underwhelmed for the $100 price tag. Still a fun experience but maybe less kids in the room next time
I come here every year with my husband for birthdays and Valentine’s Day and it never fails to amaze us! Food always tastes great, Servers are always kind and quick!
When the waiter started off the night asking “would you like what you two had last time?” …when I’ve never been there with this person before, that really set the tone for the night. I asked what he was talking about, and shown a list of what my ex wife and I used to eat many years ago. Yup. Really set the tone.
Food was fine.
Out-of-town family visit
Went for Father’s Day and everyone enjoyed the experience. Great tasting bites and non stop great service.
Good food overall, a little expensive. There did appear to be a lot of “corner” being shouted.
Very expensive for a family of 4 but very fun. This won’t become a regular outing, probably not even once at year at almost $300 for the meal!
Overall experience was that they delivered what they promised ("unique"). It's a fondue place; and being that's the venue, they've done with it just about all that's possible. We went for the 4-course meal, for which they provide broad choices involving a fondue for all except the salad course (you still get choices, mind you). Portions are a bit lean, but come to think of it, there probably wouldn't be enough time to cook all the pieces otherwise. The only way you'd be disappointed is if you went there quite hungry, and made some unwarrented assumptions about the term "4-course meal". It's factually true, but they are *fondue* courses, which is measured in kabob-sized pieces, not conventional meat cuts, along with vegetable & bread pieces.
Restaurant was busy, but everyone was still following guidelines. Service was good and very prompt.
My wife and I returned for the BFFF event.
It was nice to see more customers in the restaurant because the previous several times we have dined it has been nearly empty.
However TMP Gaithersburg seems to be experiencing a number of issues resulting in decreased quality from our previous experiences.
My wife always orders a few Love Martini's. She immediately noticed her drink was different, after asking our service, we found that the bartender has made a substitution because they didn't have one of the normal ingredients. She sent it back and got the sunshine sangria. I got the Whiskey Business which was on special. The cherries a great!
Our cheese (we always get Fiesta) tasted fine but was very stringy - added a fun dynamic. And it was great to get the special dippers of meats and breads.
I got the house salad and my wife always gets the California. However, the vinaigrette dressing was not good. When she asked the server about that (she finally returned after I had finished my salad), she said they are made by the managers, and there was a new manager. She took my wife's untouched salad away and immediately brought our chocolate, without offering a different salad or dressing.
The chocolate was good and we got some bonus macaroons.
The entire time we were waiting for the manager to stop by to ask him about the salad, but he never came. finally, about 10 minutes after we were done with the chocolate the server dropped our check - which still had the love martini and no adjustments for the salad. My wife went to the host and asked for the manager. He was very defensive about the drink, asking if she drank it (she took two sips and sent it back) and the salad (she barely touched). Finally he admitted they substituted ingredients in the salad dressing leading to the different taste. He ultimately replaced charge for the love martini off with the sunshine sangria, and reduced the check a little for the salad. It was a frustrating experience, not a fun date.
The melting pot is always a good place to go for a unique dining experience. The service was team oriented, "because they were busy that night". We were attended to well. We chose the classic for two. Four courses. That worked out fine. The cheese course was good. The salads were a little small and over drenched in dressing. The meats were very interesting. They now included pork along with steak, chicken and shrimp. We used the regular cooking style and the pieces seemed to cook a little slower. Could have been the temperature but we think that they were cutting the meat chunks a little bigger. Seemed like a lot of meat. The chocolate fondue was awesome as usual (turtle is great).
We came for the Thursdate experience. Expecting rose petals and candles as described for an anniversary dinner and booked a reservation two weeks in advance it seems they “forgot.” Disappointing start. The server was not familiar with the Thursdate menu and were told the wrong info on what we could order... had to clarify later. Our server was not attentive at all, I NEVER received a refill of water. Water! Very simple to observe and even easier to pour, out of 2.5+ hour dinner did not even get more water. Margarita drink was extremely sour, too much mix? Hard to mess up a simple mixed drink however we were getting used to the disappointments. The transitions between the courses took too long, when you observe one course finishing up you put in for the next to avoid waiting too long. There were no seamless transitions rather a lot of looking around for the server... we had high expectations for this place. Unfortunately we will not be returning, I will miss the cheese fondue.
Went here to celebrate our graduation. Got the four course meal and the entree was a big disappointment. The dessert and appetizer cheese fondue were the only ones worth it.
Avoid entree if vegan/vegetarian — it’s truly disappointing.
We will not participate with a fixed menu again. You could not make any substitutions within the group of entrees. None of us were happy with the set entrees.
Lovely Mother's Day dinner at The Melting Pot! We haven't been in quite some time due to the pandemic but it's so nice to be able to go back. The food is always top notch and the service is great. They were pretty crowded due to Mother's Day but we were seated fairly quickly (we did have a reservation) and the server was over shortly thereafter. We took advantage of the Prixe Fix menu and the food was delicious, as always. I hghly recommend The Melting Pot for any special occasion.
If I could give 0 stars for this experience I would. Melting Pot of one of my family’s favorite places to go so we chose to go there for Mother’s Day. What a mistake. Food was terrible, service was terrible, they were out of the alcohol I requested and we were there way too long and even skipped two of the four courses. We spoke with both managers who seemed to care less about our experience. We told the waiter we were not happy and he just got quiet and walked away. Horrible experience. Very disappointed in our Mother’s Day outing for a high priced crappy meal.
Good time but understaffed. He a really noisy table next to us.
First off I would like to begin with the hostess at the front. I have been wanting to come here for years and I finally got the chance to. I made reservations for 8:45PM and was not seated until nearly 9:30. I work in a restaurant and I understand the wait times but nearly 40 minutes over the wait time is outrageous. Now with our server, he asked us what we wanted to eat and we quickly began to order. His name was Jake and I understand he may have been tired but the hospitality was not present at all. First off we ordered a Bees Tea, which we never received. Secondly, the food was taking way too long when it wasn’t even that busy. The meat had little to no seasoning whatsoever. Lastly, after we paid our bill, he came back with the check we’re supposed to sign. He never even gave us a pen. After that I was very upset. I went to the front and around the restaurant to look for someone to talk to about my experience, but of course there was no one to be found. I am for sure never coming back to this location again. Horrible service and no hospitality.
My son specifically requested Melting Pot for his birthday.
