The Melting Pot - Farmingdale Ratings and Reviews
An interactive food experience but more than just a novelty -- you'll want to come back again. A fun time, but if you get the full meal with cheese, main course and dessert plan on being there for a while. Its a pretty slow moving meal but worth the effort.
Food is always good. Started w drinks and my fav will always b the love martini so delicious. We did cheddar cheese fondue then a California salad. Next was the garlic shrimp appetizer. To finish it off we had the original chocolate fondue for dessert. So delicious. And the service was excellent. Lynn our waitress was attentive, funny, and enthusiastic. Chris the manger also came around to see how things were going also.
The Melting Pot in Farmingdale made our 5th year anniversary so special. They accommodated our little one who was two with things she ate, there was a beautiful card at the table for us congratulating on our 5th year which was so special. The four course classic was perfect, the chocolate s'mores desert was heavenly!!! We look forward to going back soon. :)
Our waitress was extremely rude right from the moment we sat down. She seemed irriatated that we only wanted to order fondue and not entrees. After we were done eating, our waitress came in and took our bill, never said thank you or have a nice evening. Then, after sitting for 10 minutes just talking, the hostess came in and took one of our chairs away. We felt like it was their way of kicking us out. The hostess came in a second time and took another chair. Then I saw our waitress and hostess outside of our room complaining that we were still there. We were only there maybe an hour and a half and there was no one waiting so I didn't understand why they were being rude. Not a good first impression. Will not be going back anytime soon!
This is a place that offers a different kind of dining experience, very nice ambience and great either for groups or for a date night. All the items on the menu are exquisite, the cheese fondue, the salads and of course the chocolate fondue. On the main course, all meets were perfectly marinated...simply delicious.
I have been to Melting Pot in Denver CO and was blown away, I Finally got my brother to experience the fondue at Melting Pot in Farmingdale. We were Very impressed. Our server, Hiro, was adorable, knowledgable and very friendly, he was more than happy to answer any and all questions, even volunteering knowledge, we felt cared for but not hovered over.
It was an exteremely pleasant experience and we cannot wait to go back.
Maybe it's me, but I always have a better time when we do cheese, salad and chocolate fondue. The whole "cooking your own meat" thing is something i still can't get past. The flavor of everything you "poach" is the same. Just note that before you go to eat here. I love this place for everything else though, and will go back. The spinach salad is my fave.
Our waitress Kim made this dinng experience exceptional. she was very friendly and helpful. As for the food, I have to say simoply fondue has much better food and a far better selection. I found much of the food at the Melting Pot too salty and over seasoned..
First, I wrote on the comments during the reservation that it was my boyfriends birthday and when we sat down they left a little birthday card on the table! Surprising and cute. The restaurant was nice but the room we were in was nothing special. They could do it up a little more fancy I think to match how wonderful the food, service and wine list is. I think its better for dates and not big groups because of the dipping idea but the sangria was AMAZING and the food was great too. Definitely left feeling very very full and happy!
I always love my experience at the Melting Pot... our waitress was awesome, the food was awesome. The atmosphere and ambience was awesome. Normally I go in large groups, but I much more enjoyed this as an experience with just my boyfriend and I. Perfect date night...and a lot of fun!
Thanks to L.I. Restaurant week, we were here twice in one week. Both times were very good. The wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable about how to prepare the meal the correct way.Always have a good time here.It takes awhile to get from appetizer to dessert but it is a very relaxed way to really enjoy a meal.
Expensive meal. Not very much value, but it is all about the experience. The service was SLOW!!! Not great when you are there with a little one. Dinner for 3 lasted well over 2 hours as we were waiting for service between courses, and the place was not even that busy. The little one got a kick out of it, loved dessert. I'm not sure if we would go back and actually spend full price (it was restaurant week)and get so little food for so much money and have to wait so long to eat it. Everyone was very friendly, but the wait was insane for a meal that started in the afternoon and ended into the evening.
We had heard nothing but great reviews and decided to try it for our 1 year anniversary. Was not disappointed in the slightest. You could taste just how fresh the food was. It was fun also the interaction rather then just being brought a plate like in other restaurants. I also like the way the tables were set up to give privacy.
Would never go back here again...extremley pricy for food quality...save your money and go to TGIFridays or Applebees...you boil your meat and then dip in sauce that you can buy in food store...oh and our milk chocolate fondue tasted like heated up Hershey's syrup...gross!
This was one of the best dining experiences that I have ever had. The food was wonderful and there was a great variety of cocktails and wines. We especially loved the presentation of the yin-yang martini. The artichoke spinach fondue was perfect with the pieces of bread, chips, veggies and granny smith apples. The main course's meats and seafood were tender and fresh tasting. We tried the Coq au vin style. It had a really nice flavor. The dessert was delicious. We had the smore's fondue. There was a selection of scrumptious odds and ends to dip into the chocolatey fondue like rice krispy treats, cheesecake, poundcake, marshmallows and fruit. Our server Danielle was exceptional.
Frankly, the fondu was terrific despite trying a little to hard to be special (they add so many silly little ingredients to it trying to make it seem like it's something for the ages).
That wasn't the problem though, neither was the waiter who was friendly and had fully memorized his speeches. Nor was the atmosphere which was also nice and hard table setups that afforded you privacy.
It was the overpriced main course. They give you some broth and a couple of pieces of meat to cook. Barely any food and wildly bland so they try and get you to dip them in overly spicy sauces. Just terrible food and 3 times as much to buy as the fondu.
Go! Check the place out! But just order the cheese fondu and call it quits while ahead!
This was not my third time at The Melting Pot, but it was my first time getting a dinner meal there. As usual, the chocolate course was delicious, as was the salad. However, a member of our group was a vegetarian and requested her own pot to cook her dinner in. The waitress was a little annoyed that we made this request and wasn't sure she could make this work for us. She eventually found a portable burner for the second pot, but kept commenting throughout the meal that we needed to have requested a two burner table for this. All of the other times we've eaten there, they have always been able to put two pots on the burner, and even put our two chocolate pots on the burner. We were unsure of what the issue here was.
My wife and I went for Long Island Restaurant Week. We were glad that The Melting Pot was participating. The additional charge for the fondue appetizer was well worth it. The portions were good size and the desert was out of this world. So many different choices! We left feeling full but not overstuffed. As always, the wait staff was great. Our server, Tex, was very good about checking on us and our drinks. We're thinking of going back again next Sunday.
