The Melting Pot - Duluth Ratings and Reviews
This was my first visit and I really enjoyed it. The menu options were a little confusing because of the mix of “four course meal” options and ala carte options. As a result of the confusion my wife didn’t get her salad. But I all-in-all I really liked it and will definitely try it again!
I was very disappointed in the decline of this restaurant. I have been a number of times before but it has been several years since I've been to the Duluth location and I was shocked at the difference in decor and ambiance. It has obviously been re-painted and all around the tables and corners of the walls you could see the old paint showing through. The bathroom had holes in the walls where previous fixtures had been and had not been patched or painted. The lighting at all Melting Pots I have visited has been dim and romantic. This had glaring light even though it was late evening by the time we finished dinner. I will not be visiting this location again.
We were at MP for Christmas. It was very warm in the restaurant for the first 30ish minutes, however, it was quickly attended to as other guests were mentioning the same. We prefer the Duluth location to Mansell. We prefer the classics and Duluth staff/management are happy to accomodate where Mansell staff simply says we don’t even have that available anymore. ie...kirschwasser liquor for the classic alpine. Two of us only use green goddess to compliment our entree. When we ask for only that (explaining no need to waste others that we don’t eat) and extra of it, Mansell will still bring out all of them and one small extra ramiken of green goddess (that has happened twice). Lastly, the last two times we went to Mansell (had to because we booked too late and Duluth was not available at the time we needed). The cheese course was “gummy” and was told by a manager that it was because too much flour was added to the cheese. It tasted fine but had an odd texture.
Took my mom there for Christmas dinner. Neither of us had been there before so we weren’t sure what to expect. I was very pleased and chose this restaurant because of the vegetarian option, which was absolutely delicious. The food was great, the atmosphere was calm and pleasant and my mom and I enjoyed it very much. It’s definitely a special occasion kind of place!
We dine at this restaurant several times a year....love Melting Pot. We enjoyed dinner here as a couple Christmas Eve and had a fabulous meal. To be honest, we have had issues during previous visits and the manager and staff went out of their way to make sure that our previous issues were addressed and they made sure we had a great meal/experience. The Big Night Out (4 courses...cheese fondue, salad, entree and dessert fondue) is the way to go but go hungry...the portions are nice sized and you will definitely be full! Bottom line...this restaurant did the right thing, met our concerns head on and rectified them. Couple that level of commitment to their customers with incredible food served by a delightful and caring server (thank you Chanade!) and it made for a great experience. Do yourself a favor and go...you won't be sorry!
We have always loved eating at any Melting Pot. The food was amazing, as always. We celebrated our 29th wedding anniversary and were welcomed with a beautiful rose and rose pedals at our table. Our reservation was at 5:00 pm and we had a concert in the area afterward at 7:00 pm. Even though we told our waiter several times that we needed to rush things, we still arrived late to the concert at 7:30. Next time, we will be sure to make our reservations earlier!
Not enough dippers/veggies. Also not enough dippers for the dessert to use all the chocolate we ordered for the size of our party. Had to ask for more to finish the chocolate. Salad size also seemed much smaller than in the past. Otherwise food and service was great and had a nice evening.
Arrived early for our reservation and seated promptly. Unfortunately, they seated us in a back room that looked more appropriate for a storage area. The other table in the room was a large table with a large family including infants. The room seemed brightly lit unlike the rest of the restaurant that had nice ambience. We requested a table more appropriate for the occasion- somewhere quiet with nice lighting more fitting with the type of restaurant . Once moved, we had a nice table and a great server. Food was excellent, service was wonderful. Had a great time.
I had heard good things so I had high expectations. However I was disappointed in the overall experience. The hostess clearly hated her job and had a poor attitude. It was a very poor value. Extremely expensive for what you get. On the bright side, the food tasted good, our waiter was excellent and the manager checked in with everyone.
I have been to multiple Melting Pot locations in a number of cities, and unfortunately I was underwhelmed. The atmosphere is very dull and lackluster. If you’ve been to other locations, you will not be impressed with this location. With that being said, the food was very good, but the experience could use improvement.
The wife and I go to the Melting Pot every year for our anniversary. It has always been a delightful experience. This last time, while the food was good and the service was excellent, there was a couple that had brought a very small child. The child was not more than 2 yrs old and screamed most of the time. I wish there was a age limit or something. This is a nice place, it's romantic but screaming kids kind of kill the ambiance.
Both the food and service was outstanding. Not only was our waiter attentive but the manager came by multiple times to see if we needed anything. They're currently raising money for St. Jude. A $10 donation gets you a $20 gift card. The food was incredible, definitely go for the Coq au Vin preperation. All the food was great but I particularly recommend the teriyaki and garlic and wine marinated steaks.
Another special occasion visit to the Melting Pot Duluth. Always count on them to make the day special. Taking the time for a long dining experience and a tech detachment is the best is what makes for a perfect night here. Spend time talking to each other and experiencing the meal is what it is all about. Thanks to Alexander for fantastic service all night.
I recently had to go gluten free and was worried about how that would impact my dining options here. I shouldn’t have been worried at all! They have tons of gluten free options on the menu, including their drink menu, and the entire staff was well trained in this area. I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. We had a great dinner!!
