The Melting Pot - Darien Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I enjoyed our time at the Melting Pot. The environment is outstanding and we love going there for our wedding anniversary every year. The service and food was outstanding. We also appreciated the entertainment with having the magician stop by our table. We'll be back next year for our 6 year!
We always enjoy ourselves, but am almost always blown away when the bill comes. Total cost for family of four with NO Drinks (only water) - $205!!
We basically go because the kids love it, although I cannot justify why cheese and chocolate rack up the price to $50 per person
Had such a great time! My boyfriend and I went for our 2 yr anniversary. They gave us a hand written card upon our arrival congratulating us on the anniversary, also put our name up on a TV screen that specifies every customers' special occasion they are celebrating. They really are personable and sat us at the perfect corner booth which was very romantic! Such a great dinnee and atmosphere!
I took my two daughters ( 11 and 13) and my daughter's friend for birthday dessert. It was a place my 13 year old had been dying to go to try their chocolate fondue. The were kind enough to seat the birthday girl and friend at a separate table from us. I have to say, Rachel, our server, was the most incredible server I have ever had! She was extremely informative, upbeat, enthusiastic and patient. She made my daughter and everyone she talked to feel special. I can't express enough how impressed I was with her service and overall personality. We will return because of her! And the chocolate fondue was fantastic! The girls were more than thrilled at the flambé and talked about everything for the remainder of the evening. Thank you for making this occasion even more wonderful!!
We usually really enjoy going to the Melting Pot to celebrate a special occasion. This time we felt rather rushed- the server dropped off the check right after he brought us the chocolate fondue. We felt like we were supposed to hurry up and leave so that they could seat another couple. The food was delicious as always, though.
setting was really nice romantic and intimate. loving atmosphere first time here. wait staff was not very attentive and seemed to not like the fact that we couldn't decide on the many options available. I asked a lot of questions because its a very interesting concept wait staff seemed annoyed and started being sarcastic. EXPENSIVE but worth it if we had a better waiter. rose petals on the table made it extra special overall great experience and delicious as well.
Went with my teenage son on a lark. We both agreed that the restaurant had the feel of being on a cruise, or perhaps a Disney restaurant - nice looking enough but some how gimmicky.
We ordered the steak lovers 4 course. The cheese course was tasty, but the salad very bland. The meat had very little taste or texture after cooking in the pot. The chocolate dessert was good, but we paid extra for "special dippers". The price tag at the end was not worth it. Don't think I'll return, but I think young kids would enjoy it. They even had a magician!
Everyone from the manager to the wait staff were super helpful and polite. They made you feel so special there. My boyfriend and I will spend all of our Valentine's Day dates here from now on. Absolutely had a blast! Thin mint cocktail was out of this world!
We go to Melting Pot at least two to three times a year. I know that's not a ton, but we lead busy lives and live all the way in Wallingford. So we make the over hour trek to Darien because we love doing fondue as a family and the food never disappoints. The last three times we've gone to this location, the service has went down drastically. On our last visit (the night before Valentine's Day); our experience was terrible. We had to find our waiter several times, ran out of things more than once, sat with empty drinks for quite a while, our salads came our after our meals, and there was never an apology or explanation. Now both my husband and I work in customer service. He runs a restaurant and I own a hair studio. So we know how important it is to give the best costumer service possible. Unfortunately, I don't know that we'll be making the long trip up there and spend over $200 (for 3 people) seeing as we've received subpar service on our last three visits. It's very unfortunate because we love everything else about this restaurant.
Our first time and we were very impressed with the food, the presentation, the fabulous table side magician, and especially the top notch service by Dave at the Darien CT location!!! It was my husband's birthday and he, our daughter and I couldn't have been more pleased! Dave even remembered a candle in the dessert because I briefly mentioned it.
Plenty of parking place and location easy to acces for main road
Comfortable and relaxing
It was the first time for a birthday celebration. Menu a little confusing to understand. Staff is friendly and food is well presented
It is a good place to share food and conversation with friends or family and kids
Melting pot is a place to cook and talk
The Melting Pot has gone down in quality over the years. They no longer prep the cheese in the kitchen, now it arrives pre shredded in bags and you can taste the difference. The staff isn't as knowledgeable about the cheese nor do they make it It with the same consistency. Lately the cheese has been runny and sometimes I have to ask the server to add a bit more cheese. They have actually wanted to charge us for extra cheese. Also, miss the beautiful pewter plates & bowls as well as the low lighting and music which is more appropriate for the atmosphere (we listened to country played way too loud) . I have been going to the Melting Pot all over the US since 1987 and as one of my favorite restaurants I so wish it was becoming classier or at least maintaining the level of quality from the past.
We were there for a birthday dinner as a family of 4. We were one of the first people there that evening, but it took 2.5 hours from start to finish. I am not sure if that is normal for this restaurant, but we were constantly having to stand up and walk around to look for our waitress, who was nowhere to be found, as it grew later and later. In the end I paid the bill on the iPad they gave us, and waited for the receipt. No one came back, with the receipt or to say thank you for coming. I finally hunted down the servers' station, saw my receipt sitting there, ripped it off myself, and left without encountering one server or hostess on the walk through the restaurant to the door. Kids loved the fondue concept but we will not be back unless they beg to go.
Went to eat for a birthday dinner. Staff had a nice birthday card waiting on the table. Server did an excellent job of explaining the menu and fondu process. Attentive to our needs with the kids and ensured we had plenty of things to dip. Child friendly and tasty!
I thought the meal was delicious overall. We were a table of 4, where one person ordered the "4 course experience" and the rest of us just ordered an entree. Upon time for desert, the one person who ordered the 4 course experience order their desert, making an extra (comical) point that he was not sharing with anyone because it was just for him. Shortly after, the waiter came out with dippers for 4 people, not just him. The person with the 4 course experienced then asked, this is all for me? The waiter looked confused, but smiled and said yes. After when we received the check, we found out we were in fact charged for all 4 deserts, which was not what we asked for. I think that was very, very misleading and was very disappointed in the restaurant because of it.
