The Melting Pot - Columbus Ratings and Reviews
We went to the Melting Pot for my boyfriend’s birthday. Neither of us had ever been so we wanted to try something new. We got the Wisconsin cheese and were not disappointed! Everything from the salads to the meats were delicious! The amount of food given was more than I thought and we were both stuffed at the end! Our waiter Bill constantly was checking on us and if we wanted more bread he was on it! I was surprised there was a good size selection for the chocolate fondue.. we went with the s’mores and were not disappointed! You are given a huge selection of things to dip from bananas, strawberries, pineapple to marshmellows, brownies, pound cake and more!! The booths were high so it added privacy where you felt like you were the only ones in the restaurant! We can’t wait to go back!
Upon our check-in, we were told that we would be seated shortly. The restaurant was not busy and they apparently forgot about us. After about 15 minutes, I approached the bartender and asked if he knew what was the hold up. He promptly ran to the front desk and checked. We were seated immediately after. Drinks were strong and prompt. The pace of the courses were spread apart. We were given ample time and didn't feel rushed or feel like we were waiting long periods between courses. A little pricey but overall delicious and fun.
I was at Melting Pot 4 years ago and had a delightful experience. I was so disappointed this visit. The cucumbers for a hot cheese appetizer is a horrible idea and combination. The service was average and the strawberries I downloaded for signing up for the Melting Pot club wasn't ready. It truly put a damper on my special occasion dining experience
The portion size was meniscal when considering the absolutely outrageous prices! The prices are totally absurd!!!! Indeed it was presented as a four course meal but regrettably after spending almost 190.00 for a party of 4; we spent additional money buying more food within hours of leaving. The experience was certainly unique however, impossible to justify regardless of the occasion! Taste, portions and costs, absolutely wasn't worth it!!!!
We were a quartet of older people who find the full four course dinner just too much to eat. We ordered salads and two different sets of fondue appetizer (one after the other). The salads were fine. The fondue comes with various things to dip but in both cases the dippers far outlasted the fondue. We would like enough fondue to use up the dippers! We also wish we could have an option of just getting a nice big pot of fondue and as much good baguette type bread as we need.
The Melting Pot is usually one of our favorite restaurants. But, that wasn't the case tonight. The food (what we ate) was good as usual, but this particular visit, we had horrible service.
We refused the main course and asked to speak to the manager after waiting for 20 minutes after our pot of cooking broth came to a boil. In fact, one waiter walking by, asked if we were finished since the pot was nearly empty. The couple seated next to us arrived 10 minutes after us and completed their main course by the time our waitress finally showed up to start ours. Typically, I would over look the slow service, and write it off as the restaurant being busy, but this wasn't the case. I had to ask for our upgraded appetizers twice and inquire about my missing cocktail. When it finally arrived, it was not what I had ordered.
After waiting for the manager to arrive at the table, for the second time in the evening, she apologized for the terrible experience, and removed our drinks from the bill and provided us a $50 coupon.
My wife and I work most weekends and had waited weeks for the opportunity for a date night at The Melting Pot after a day of shopping at Easton. (we live 4 hours from Columbus) I was very disappointed and don't' feel like she did enough. I don't know how quickly we'll trust the Melting Pot again for dinner with one of the few weekends we have off.
Our experience was, as usual, great! We had not been to The Melting Pot for some time, but it was just as good as our previous occasions. The unique menu and style of dining makes it stand out, and the relaxed pace of a four-course dinner makes it easy to have conversation and engage with those who are with you. The selections were sufficient to cover our different food preferences, and it was nice to be able to substitute a non-alcoholic base for the fondue cooking segment (although, it would be nice to see a couple additional non-alcoholic choices included on the menu). The server was very friendly and did a good job of providing the right amount of service at the appropriate time, including bringing the bill when requested in order to make our following entertainment for the evening on time. All in all, an enjoyable dinner and we will be returning in the future.
Our waiter was VERY patient with us, explaining the dining options for two old fogies celebrating their anniversary. The food was good, but the Wisconsin cheddar cheese fondue was too plain. It needed some spicing up. Dinner with wine (modest quality) came to $135 plus tip. Quite a bit on the expensive side.
Food was great! The service was poor. We had to ask for drinks multiple times. Server did not come to table other then to bring our food to the table. We went for a special occasion and the server had to ask what the the occasion was multiple times. This was not our first time at the melting pot and we have always been impressed with service, but not this time.
We celebrated an engagement at The Melting Pot and everyone loved it! The cheese fondue (bacon & jalapeno) was delicious and just the right amount of warmth. Everyone loved dipping the veggies in addition to pieces of bread. Nice salads, and a perfect size. Everyone chooses their own entrée - from all steak to all seafood, plus one veggie only. We used the oil for cooking and it was fun and delicious. Then wrap the whole thing up with a 'turtle sundae' chocolate fondue and we were in heaven! The quality was amazing, service fantastic, and we consider it good value for everything you get!
The service was great! Everyone was so friendly and willing to help make our dining experience the best. The food was delicious and we loved the hands on experience of cooking our food at the table. Everything about the melting pot is amazing, from the food to the atmosphere.
On an all around basis I would not recommend the Melting Pot. NONE of the food was over the top. For about $100.00 we could have had outstanding seafood or steak. The cheese fondue was pretty good except for the big fat hard carrots you get for dipping. The bread for the fondue was good but when the waiter took the cheese he also took the bread which would have been good with our salads. The salad was excellent. The entrees and dipping sauces were mediocre.
It takes more than two minutes to cook the meat if you have several in at once.
The chocolate fondue was good. The fruit and pound cake were perfect for dipping , not so much the sweet items.
The booths for two were perfect.
The service wasn't too bad until it was time for the chocolate fondue. We waited quite a while and finally a manager showed up with the final course.
All of that being said, nothing was really bad or disgusting just not that good.
My opinion, go where someone else can do the cooking and the quality is better!!
Had a great time with my fiancee! Wanted to try this place with her, and surprise her to a new dining experience. The four course meal was great, and definitely was a cool experience with the fondue. A little pricey compared to traditional places, but definitely worth the experience, and a great date night for sure!
