Food was great . Most disappointed in the wait staff . Not very knowledgeable or enthusiastic compared to visits over the past 5 years. Appeared that they have really cut back on the serving sizes for cheese fondue dippers. Maybe to prevent waste but what we received for a party of 3 was very skimpy. Asked for milk chocolate fondue received semisweet don't think the waiter knew the difference.
We were seated at 7pm and were not served anything other than a single drink when we decided to walk out at 8:15pm. Service was terrible. If I could rate the food a zero I would as we never were served any. Manager offered us a comp meal when we complained but I woud have only accepted if he had offered to buy it at the Chinese place across the parking lot. My first, and definately LAST, visit to The Melting Pot.
We figured it would be crowded on Mother’s Day but we thought they would bring in extra staff to accommodate. The service was slow and poor and despite having a reservation we still had to wait for a table. We had to wait for our first round because the ran out of bacon. Which caused our salad and main course to arrive before we finished our starters. We were only given one fondue fork each so it took 2x as long to eat because they “ran out of silverware”. We felt rushed from one course to the next despite only having 1 fork each. Also the cooking oil temperature was too low so everything we tried to cook in it was soggy. Our waitress tried to “test” the oil by pouring some of the tempura batter into the oil and two separate occasions she used her finger to wipe the rim of the glass clean and wiped her finger back into the glass. I know the oil would kill any bacteria but seriously... what server thinks that is ok? We go every year for the past 12 years for my daughters and wife’s birthdays and Mother’s Day. We usually have great experiences and at $250 with no alcohol you really should. But this time it was a huge let down. And for the price there are many other places to go. Not sure if we will give it another shot or not.
We were there for Mother’s Day. I had requested to increase the reservation to three by phone . I was not able to do it on open table. It kept saying site was down. When we showed up they only had us at a table for two. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. This is a fine dining restaurant with poor quality food service. Two broken tables with multiple dirty tables. They ran out of silverware. Our meal was over $200 and would not repeat the experience. There are a lot better fine dining restaurants to spend our money.
Our server was great even though it was a busy Mother’s Day. We had a party of 6 and we were settled quickly, but never felt rushed. Our server thoroughly explained everything.
This is a tradition in our family for Mothers Day. It is a Ladies time with daughters and Mothers getting together
We dont go out very much, because we have small kids, but we have been going to the melting pot for mothers day for the last couple year. Unfortantly this year i was a little disappointed. Being a server myself i understand when your busy, but this was a more than that. We saw our server only a couple times. The rest was other staff, who were friendly. We asked for extra sides and we never got them. Our server wasnt friendly. She didnt explain anything about our courses. She dropped it and walked away. We ended up asking the bartender for drinks for my kids. Sad to say that it makes me nervous to go back to the one in columbia.
lovely Mother’s Day brunch
A little pricey but well worth it. Perfect Mother’s Day.
Fun concept but this place is run down and borderline dirty
The melting pot is my daughter's favorite place, and it is considered a treat, because it is pretty expensive. We had a party of 7 adults, celebrating a graduation this time. We splurged and got full course orders, extras, and bottles of wine. The cheeses were made very runny, and thin. The salads tasted wilted like they were stored premade in a fridge, but the worst part was that we were there for 5 hours!!! This was not a voluntary decision. The service was SO SLOW it was outrageous. If we didn't have guests with us, we would have walked out. It took literally hours between courses, the wrong food came out for the meats, so had to wait some more. Took forever to get anything requested, then it took 45 minutes after dinner was well over to get dessert going, then another 45 minutes to get a check. It wasn't even all that crowded. I paid for a special package to get a picture in a little card stock frame, and they said their camera was broken and couldn't do it, but didn't credit anything but we paid for that. We we will go to Towson if we even do melting pot again.
We love this location. It’s pricey but always a special time!
Absolutely amazing. Perfect date night to show her how much she means to me. Service was incredible, the flowers and balloons made her night! I cant thank you enough for such a memorable experience.
Had a great time. Our server was awesome!! Had 5:00 reservations, but our entire party arrived a little early, and we got seated early. It did take about 3 hours for our group of 7 to complete the entire 4 course meal, but we all had such a good time, we didn't realize how long it took. Will definitely eat there again.
Always a great experience. Service was excellent.
I have been to the Melting Pot several times and each time i come I can't wait to come back...excellent service, food and specials
The food and service were great, but the restaurant seemed somewhat old and worn. The paint was chipping and did not have clean lines. The carpet was worn. The feel was that it needed a makeover. Also the noise from other guests was overwhelming, you could easily hear your neighbors conversations. For our first wedding anniversary I was hoping it would be more intimate but it was better suited for just a date night or girls night. We ordered alcoholic drinks and that took a lot of time to get them.
Our server, I think his name was Eloy, was fantastic.
Nice birthday celebration with the girls
Love the Melting Pot. Make sure you say whether you love onions or garlic as that can make a big difference on the seasoning of your fondue. The gorgonzola port sauce is so yummy with steak. We tried the yin yang chocolate this time and the white & dark chocolate were great with the dessert dippers.
Justin our server was fantastic. Our table was ready within within minutes of our reservation time even on a Friday evening . Once again our server Justin was fantastic even with it being my dining companion first time, Justin was patient with explaining the menu I would certainly recommend this location and this restaurant again
The manager was super attentive and the waitress was very nice! My son and I had a great mommy-son date! The food was fresh and very filling! Cocktail on point - best bartender ever!
The staff was nice and the food was good. But the price and what you get is pathetic. So over priced that I don’t think I will return.
It’s really not my thing. I like cheese and bread. I like fruit and cake with chocolate. But meat cooked in a vat of broth just isn’t my thing. Dripping wet steak, chicken, etc is just very meh.
I always enjoy it, sometimes they are a little slow, but going there I'm never in a hurry, I always expect at least a couple of hours. If I had a complaint it would be the menu, I don't like how they "dumbed it down", I like the old menu layout. Also this time I was there with someone who had never been and they were totally confused by the menu (another reason I liked the old menu, it was easier to follow), but that's just me.
The Melting Pot in Columbia was everything I hoped it would be - good cheese, good food, and a great time. The food was delicious from the cheeses we chose to the entrees we cooked ourselves. Even the cocktails were exceptional. My friend and I only wished there was more cheese in a pot. With two of us at the table, we ran through two cheese offerings before our entree came, and then a third with our entrees. We probably didn't need that much cheese, but it was so good we wished there was more!
The best part was how amenable the staff was. In addition to providing recommendations and help with ordering off the menu, when we told our server we wanted to order 2 cheeses, she moved us to a table with two burners to accommodate us. Our server was very friendly and fun, and definitely added to the delightful night. Highly recommend!
Our server got bogged down by a 10-top birthday party also in our section, so me and my guest were nearly forgotten throughout. We waited for a water refill for 10+ minutes, and then for the check for another 15+ after we were finished dining. It's just not what I expect when dinner costs $125/2 people... Sort of fun as a once a year restaurant, but not likely to visit this location again.
The service and food is EXCELLENT, from the time you walk in the door until you exit. The Owners are there a lot and when they are there, they walk around and make sure all is well. The servers we have had, every time, are attentive and friendly. The food is amazing from cheese to chocolate and the variety of choices is awesome. We love the setting for romance, bringing family for a fun evening - any age.
Thank you to all at the Melting Pot in Columbia, MD. You keep doing what you're doing and we will keep coming back. We love it there!!
Quite pricey for everyday dining but very reasonable for a special event.
We made a reservation for The Melting Pot earlier in the day for 8:45 PM. We arrived 10 minutes early and did not get seated until 9:10 PM, while there were a dozen tables open as we walked through to our seat. We had never been to the melting pot before and the server didn’t explain the options well; it seemed like she didn’t feel like having to explain everything. It took 2 hours for us to get our food and it was mediocre at best. Probably will never go to the melting pot ever again and if I do I will not go to this location.
The food was amazing gave me a foodgasm. The staff was amazing too🤗
We go to the Melting Pot once a year for a special occasion and changed to the Columbia location 3 yrs ago due to a dissatisfaction with another location. Looks like we may just go to the movies next year. There was a string of service problems that just left a bad taste in our mouth. The food was excellent and the owner was very apologetic and tried to make things right but other overall result was a disappointing evening.
We did the Maryland experience and it was AMAZING!! It was a mom and her 2 adult daughters and we all had a wonderful time.
I love the Melting Pot. Celebrated my husband's 50th birthday Friday night. Requested balloons on the table and they were there when we arrived. Eloy was very attentive to our needs and even surprised us with a plate decorated with Happy 50th Birthday in gel icing & a piece of cake. They never disappoint.
Our server was either new or completely disinterested in her job. We had to request things multiple times, correct her on menu pricing as well as having to ask for the food to be served in its entirety. Food quality wasn’t bad but wasn’t great.
One of my favorite places to eat and chat. No rush and long meals. All the food is delicious!
Sat for almost 40 minutes before we had food. Then another long delay for the next course.
Amazing restaurant! Phenomenal food and great atmosphere. 10/10. If you ever get the chance to go, GO.
Took son in law for his birthday, everyone enjoyed the meal and the experience.
I went to the melting pot with my family because I received a gift card. The food was delicious, however the restaurant was loud, hot, and our booth was cramped. (The noise was from talking and laughter, the heat from the stove on the table, and there was very little space between the seat and the table.)
I was really looking forward to a martini. Although the drink was beautiful, it had little flavor which was disappointing.
I would choose to go somewhere else.
