The Melting Pot - Columbia
Need to book at 8:30 PM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Katie was amazing!
I made the reservation for two for total of $98 however once we got there we were shown a Valentine's menu for $150. After I discovered this I went to go talk to the person at the front desk to explain to them that my reservation was for people can have a four-course meal for $98 if that was not the case that we were going to leave. The person at the front desk made an exception this time and let us continue to dine there. I felt like this was a bait and switch. Not very professional
Will not return. I made my reservation nearly 2 months in advance. The day of, I arrived at 6:50 for my 7pm reservation. We were not seated until 40 minites later. Staff at the desk were clueless and useless. They did not greet guests, get them checked in, etc.. Servers/management kept asking why empty tables weren't seated. Meanwhile, the lobby was full of guests. The 2 girls working the front desk kept walking in an empty back room to sit and use their cellphones. We ended up missing our 9pm activity planned for (and already paid for) after dinner due to the delays. Also, we weren't informed in advance that there would be no menu options. The only food option was a 3 course fondue for 2 for $150 - which actually tasted pretty good. However, i would've preferred to substitute something for the first course, since I'm allergic to raw vegetables. I tried to upload pics, but the site won't accept the default size. Anyway, this was my last visit to melting pot. I've enjoyed them in Annapolis over the years. But service has slowly declined all around.
First time at The Melting Pot. Wife wanted to try it. It was a unique experience. It’s not place I think we would frequent often, but it’s a fun experience every once in a while or with another couple. Glad we went.
The speed of service was DEPLORABLE! It took almost 30 minutes between courses for the food to come out!! That makes absolutely no sense, especially when the restaurant is moderately occupied and the meat coming to the table is RAW! We spent $200 for a dinner that took THREE AND A HALF HOURS to complete. Manager never came to apologize or even acknowledge the delay, and we were charged full price. Unacceptable
We went for restaurant week. At first we had a hard time with the server not allowing one of my guests to have restaurant week and not order vegetarian food. Once we asked to see a manager everything was great!!
We had to ask for a different table because they now have table side grills and the smoke was causing issues with members of the party. This was effecting other customers as well.
Food and service were great, as usual. Ambiance got low marks because the restaurant was so cold we didn’t take our jackets off the entire meal.
Worst melting pot I've ever been. Service is non-existence, and ambience is just a mess where you can't even talk to other people because of setting. We were there for three hours yet we didn't even get to finish the meal. At one point, we were waiting for 45 minutes without any service. We felt like we were imprisoned, and we just wanted to get out of there.
Consistently great food. It’s always a fun experience and they always bring me more bread and apples to dip in my cheese.
Was placed at a table that was know for the pot to take a long time to warm up. Waiter left several times with out considering moving to another table. Hour of sitting around waiting was finally moved to another table
Delicious and fun experience
Cant give zero stars, which is a shame.
Arrived five minutes early to a 715 reservation and we were told they were running late. 25 minutes later a young woman from the bar area approaches the counter asking how much longer and noting that she had a 715 reservation and only has a sitter for another hour and a half. She is told "soon."
Another couple that came in after us asks when they will be seated. The hostess, frowning, says "Your reservation isn't til nine, I made it myself." They inform her they went on opentable and now had a 715 reservation. HOW ON EARTH is this place still giving out 715 reservations if they are running over a half hour behind and it is PAST 715 at this point? The hostess, flustered, looks them up and sees that they indeed now have a 715 reservation.
We finally get seated after almost 45 minutes of waiting. And we had a reservation since that morning.
We finally order. Ten minutes later my husband is told they are out of one of the entree items. They didn't bring us back a menu, though, so we awkwardly try to recall what the other vegetarian options were, then give up and ask to stick to what was already ordered. I order a glass of sauv blanc. Five minutes later our waiter shows up with two dewy bottles of pinot grigio physically in hand, and informs me they are also out of sauvignon blanc. I decline the replacements since I dont like PG. At this point my mood is pretty sour, and it's already 820. We have been here an hour, and no food yet.
When we finally get served, the food is all fine. Normal Melting Pot fare, no better or worse than other locations. But given meals here already can take up to two hours, the delays and poor management are stark and ridiculous. Don't have opentable if you can't manage your own reservations.
We had a great New Years experience! They decorated the table very nicely and our server was amazing. We were also celebrating a couple big things and they had everything ready for us when we got there. It was prefect.
New Years Eve.
Made reservation through OpenTable. No indication restaurant only had a extremely limited menu with only two food choices to make at a much higher price than normal. Included a glass of champagne whether or not customer could drink it - to include minors. No choice of entree or salads. No choice for vegetarians. One high price with no choice on menu.
Talked directly with restaurant about the reservation also and no indication of limited menu.
Server was friendly and very apologetic.
After dining at both Annapolis and the Columbia location, I would recommend Annapolis. Eventhough the food was excellent at both locations, the service and overall experience at the Annapolis location far exceeds expectations. At the Columbia location, the service was a bit rushed and there was no explanation of what was happening during the mixing process and the experience wasn't inviting and warm. I had such a great experience in Annapolis and wanted to share it with another group and chose to visit the Columbia restaurant. It just wasn't the same.
Reservation at 730 not seated till 830
Bar packed but only 8 chairs. 7 full and bartender never offered drinks.
Food was brought that belonged to another table
John the owner is a class act. Always talks to the customers. One of the best places in Columbia.
Everything was good but the best part was our server she went above and beyond to make sure we had a nice and special meal by being attentive without lingering around and respecting our privacy.
My boyfriend and I had a great time eating fondue together. The cheese salad and chock we had we plenty. We left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. Will definitely come back again.
Wonderful birthday dinner with family. Lots of fun!
The table was improperly setup due to the burner not being setup properly. It took a hour to get the cheese course and during this time we were not even offered the salad course. Another long delay between salad and main course. Had to continually leave our seat and search for staff to get service items such as water and utensils. The manager complained about refilling second helping of the unlimited entree course. There was an hour delay between the first and second entree courses with us sitting unattended for greater than 45 minutes. The meal took greater than 3 hours and we had to take our dessert course to go. This was the worse Melting Pot experience that we’ve ever had.
Excellent service and delicious food as always.
Always a great experience! The manager checked in mid-way through to make sure everything was perfect. Delicious as always!
Dj our waiter was incredible
The host sat us down within minutes of arriving for our reservation. The server was knowledgeable and had great suggestions. The entire dinner was an awesome experience.
The food was absolutely fantastic (as always). However, the service was quite disappointing. When my wife and I arrived, there was not a host present and we waited 5 minutes to be greeted. It then took another 6-7 minutes for our table to be ready. That normally would not have bothered us, but the restaurant was not busy. Our server was nice and professional, but she rarely checked on us. We had to wait an unusual amount of time between courses. My wife and I have always had pleasant experiences at this particular restaurant. I’m leaving a review this time because having such a disappointing time was way out of the norm.
We had a truly excellent experience at the Melting Pot. The food was great and our service was some of the best we've ever had (yay Cheyenne!). Overall, just a great time. We can't wait to come back.
Service was very slow, asked for a water, an hour later our waiter came back with our dinner but no drinks. Asked again, 15 minutes go by. Nothing. Asked again at that point we were done eating. He finally brings them. This point we are eating our chocolate. So got seated at 730, no drinks until 8:45-9. On top of him sweating to death, wiping his face then touching the plates he was giving us. Have been many many times and have never had an issue...
The service was great at first but then really
Poor service, mediocre overpriced food, dated and run down decor, perhaps the worst dining experience we’ve ever had. And we go out a lot.
Service was slow. The whole experience took 3 hours
Good was great. The waiter was a little slow in serving the courses and didn’t ask us about food allergies so when got to dessert, we realized we never had a chance to tell about the allergy to bananas and pineapple. Then he forgot to ring up the flowers and balloon and had to announce to the table the cost of it.
I have been to the melting pot many times and have always had wonderful service. Tonight however my service was terrible. Our server was absent from our table for 30 minutes while we were waiting for our entrees first that entire time.
We had a Groupon and had to make a reservation to use it.
Our server was very busy (Saturday night understandable), but did their best to make sure we were taken care of. Our server was a little curt and in a hurry.
We had to wait a good 15+ min in between courses but it was ok. Once our server asked other people to come refill our drinks but they never came by. Our server did get our refills though.
We got a table where the switch to the heating plate was on the floor. Thankfully, it was just the two of us, so we moved to the other side of the table so we wouldn't kick the unit on accident.
Most of the food tasted like it was in the refrigerator for at least a day. Not super fresh, but still pretty fresh.
When you have a restaurant where you cook the food yourself, you need very good ventilation. However, there were no units with a pull down vent or anything. A lot of steam and smell of food ended up on me at the end of our experience.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. This night we were celebrating our anniversary and had a great time. I would highly recommend The Melting Pot to anyone.
Birthday family dinner! Great service and food.
Brittany was awesome!
The staff was knowledgeable and the experience was fulfilling
