The Melting Pot - Charlottesville Ratings and Reviews
It was better than we anticipated... Me and my husband were celebrating our 12th Anniversary... They literally put us in our own private section... We had never seen this before... We loved it... It's definitely a once every year or two type of restaurant... Hubby loved the fact that I took initiative and made reservations... Love love love thia place... Highly recommend...
Absolutely loved it. We had reservations at 7pm but arrived early due to coming from Lynchburg and they took us early. No wait at all. Atmosphere was great. Our waiter was very educated on the menu. He recommended drink options and did an excellent job!!! Will definitely come back!
The alpine fondue was almost authentically Swiss (lacked a shot of Kirsch), and the service was very good on a busy night. We were seated right away at our reserved time. Our table was by a busy hallway (just where the staff headed in and out of the kitchen AND near the restrooms) which detracted a little, but it did get us plenty of attention for refills and dish clearing. Overall, this experience met our very high standards and we will be back.
A fun and different dining experience. Share a fondue pot with friends. Cheese fondues are nice with a variety of breads and veggies. A near-boiling pot of a savory boullion provides the at-table cooking of bitesized bits of meat, shellfish, vegetables, and more. The boullion is common to the table, but each person can order their preferred items to put into and retrieve from the pot. Most morsels take about a minute to cook, and each bite is hot and delicious.
Dessert is a chocolate fondue, dipping bites of pound cake, fresh fruit and the like. Our server was attentive and energetic and the wine list was quite nice, with options over a wide price range. The Melting Pot is not a cheap place to eat, but a good choice when looking for a unique and delicious experience.
The food was okay, but it definitely was not worth the price point. For two people it was over $120 for two of the four course meals, and one alcoholic drink per person. The "salad" was literally a wedge of iceberg lettuce with two tomatoes and not much else. I think if you are going for dessert or for just the cheese fondue it's okay but still not worth the price. The meat you have to cook on your own and to me that's not really a great idea because not everyone knows how to cook or when the meat is done, I also feel that if you are going to charge a minimum of $40 a person then you should at least cook the meat for the customers. For the price that the bill was, I don't think it was the same quality food. The best part of the experience was probably our waitress, she was wonderful. It was also really hot in the restaurant and the table was really small. It's a cool idea just very over priced.
Stopped by for chocolate fondue you fix me for Matthew West concert. Had a great time with my co-worker. We thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was impeccable. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Would absolutely come again when I had more time to enjoy several courses. Great job Melting Pot!
The door to the restaurant was opened by an employee and we were greeted the moment we walked into the restaurant. We were celebrating my grandson's 13th birthday and he was congratulated and made welcome also. (Just not the adults.) Our server was beyond great. He was friendly, advising on how to do the process of fondue and friendly.
The food was absolutely wonderful! Plenty of it and very, very tasty.
I stopped the manager as he walked by our table at one point and told him what a wonderful experience we had. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the food.
This was possibly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The food was great and the service was even better. We were greeted by every employee and wished a happy anniversary. The flowers I ordered were waiting for us when we got there. The staff even left a wonderful card for our date. Our waitress explained every step to us and gave us her recommendations. She was funny and attentive. We had the perfect little room reserved for us. We were treated so well and I intend on going back over and over again. Thank you so much melting pot for making our anniversary an unforgettable one! :)
The cheese course was excellent! If I could I would go there often just for that!!
But it was a meal deal and the rest was quite a disappointment. They give you some potatoes, broccoli and your choice of proteins for the entree. It takes the potatoes 10 minutes to cook but the rest take 2-4 minutes. So Ideally if you want to eat the potatoes, you have to sit waiting for them about 8 minutes then add the rest of the items. You either starve, eat half raw potatoes or eat everything very well done. I do not care for my broccoli to be cooked to death! My husband was really unhappy with the meal because the meat he selected was tough when boiled in the fondue broth. So we were just not happy. But the service was good. The waitress explained everything so w knew what we were getting, we just did not like what we got!
Really nice back-to-school date with the 11 yr old. She really enjoyed "cooking" her food and the whole presentation. We got a cozy booth out of the way that was really private. The owner came by and introduced himself and the service was fine. The marshmallow chocolate fondue dessert was amazing--highly recommend!
