The Melting Pot - Castleton Ratings and Reviews
We went for the first time and loved the different dining experience. The lower stars are because we didn’t realize we cooked our own entree and we were there for longer than at other restaurants because you have to wait for things to heat so you can cook it. The food was delicious and the waitress was excellent at helping us with the menu /answering all of our questions. Over all, we had a fun experience but probably won’t do this dining style again due to cooking our own food for the price you pay.
We came for my birthday with my husband and three kids (10, 12 & 15). It is pricier than the restaurants we usually go to, but we enjoyed our three courses over two and a half hours. We never felt hurried. The kids really enjoyed the food and experience and we all enjoyed spending this relaxing time together.
My husband and I went to The Melting Pot years ago for an anniversary. It was such a wonderful night. We have three teenage girls. We wanted to do something special for the girls this Valentine's Day so we thought chocolate at Melting Pot would be it. Our schedules didn't allow for the 14th so 13th worked. The reservation was for 9:00.
The hostess was borderline rude to them after they had to wait at the front. It took 15 minutes for the server to get to their table. The chocolate was wonderful and they enjoyed it but the service was far from stellar. With tip the bill was still $75. When you pay this for chocolate you expect service and atmosphere to come with it.
I worked for the Melting Pot 20 years ago. I have continued to come back because I thought it was a quality operation. It has done nothing but improve over the years. As usual the food quality was excellent. The show stopper was the duck. It tastes like Christmas. Everything was well presented and very fresh. It is obvious that someone cares about the food that comes out of the kitchen. We sat in a private booth which is great for a date night. Low lighting and quiet make for a relaxing ambiance. Our server was excellent. I was happy to see gluten free options as I am very sensitive. Our server pointed out all the items containing gluten and made suggestions for substitutions. There was even gluten free bread for the cheese fondue. I never eat bread or bun at any restaurant because they do not have the option. I walked out with no issues. We dine at the Melting Pot every Valentines day and anniversary. We have invited other couples to dinner and they are always impressed. I have never had anything but an excellent experience. The Melting Pot continues to be my favorite special night out.
Took 10 mins past reservation time to get a table as we watched a couple in after us with a reservation get seated. We were then asked if we would like to sit in bar area. After getting to table took 15 minutes for server to come by to take drink order then he left and took another 20 minutes to come back with drinks and get food order. We didn't get food to the table until 8 o'clock with a 6:45 reservation. After that it was a typical dining experience. I would only recommend you go here if not all that hungry and wanting to try something different. Defiantly not worth the price.
We were at the Melting Pot for an early Valentine Dinner. Service was slower than normal. We usually eat at the Melting Pot 3 or 4 times a year, so we noticed the difference. We loved the food and atmospheres. During this visit, we found a server who remembered the salted caramel dessert. The salted caramel was the highlight of the evening.
My husband and I and our friends got together to celebrate my birthday and just being together again after not seeing our friends for a long time. It was wonderful from start to finish. The bartender, the hostess, our waitress were all very friendly and professional. We spent 3 hours eatting , drinking and having a great time! Thank you all for such a great night!
This was the first time my wife and I have ever been to your restaurant. We really enjoyed it and will be back. The food, atmosphere, and experience were wonderful. My only complaint is the roses I ordered. I ordered a dozen for $50. The roses were wilted by the time we got home. They were in a vase at our table without any water in the vase. My guess is they were without water for some time. My wife tried to help them when she got home with water and food, but it didn’t work. I guess my concern is $50 for a dozen of roses that lasted a few hours. I look forward to your response.
The experience was just very ok. The server was ok. The entrees were ok. Our table was by the kitchen door and an empty room- there were several tables seated in another room but we were off by ourselves in an area where the staff congregated to eat and talk. Dessert was by far the best part of the meal.
I used to love dining at The Melting Pot, but my last 2 Visits in the past 8 wks will more than likely be my last. The experience is no longer worth the cost to dine there. Salads have shrunk to 1/4 of what they used to be & the small cup of veggies vs. the bread for the cheese fondue is out of proportion. Our waitress messed up our cheese fondue during our December visit & gave us barely Luke warm chocolate for our dessert, had to ask twice for her to turn it burned up. To top it all off, we ended up with her again this past weekend...bottom line, for price, if I’m not happy after my meal, then there is a problem.
I have been to the Melting Pot restaurants in Denver more than a dozen times, and it has become my favorite birthday dining experience. I live in I Diana now, and The Melting Pot in Indianapolis fell FAR short of what I've grown accustomed to. The food didn't taste as good at all...the cheese was runny and didn't taste rich and decadent like usual, they were out of several wines and I had to settle for a mediocre type of whatever they had available, and the service was poor. We weren't well attended to. Dinner should go fairly slow, but we were barely checked on even to refill drinks. Then, they only gave a scroll that had a typed birthday wish. Usually they have a rose or even put a candle in dessert for the occasion. Sadly, l'll be coming up with a new special occasion restaurant. This one fell short.
The Melting Pot was very good and what I expected. The prices are relatively high, $40-$50 per person but the food and experience is excellent.
Our server was wonderful but we went during Restaurant week and they were very understaffed. It took us almost three hours to eat due to the long wait times.
I wish the ambiance was a little more upscale but it is perfectly reasonable.
I would go again and I would recommend it to a friend.
It’s all about the experience. The food is, of course, regular food choices. It’s the way that the food is served and self-preparing. That’s what it’s all about.
Quiet, high class, nice atmosphere. It’s the type of experience where you don’t want to feel rushed. And you don’t. This is always our first choice of a nice restaurant for that special occasion. (This time was for my daughters 14th birthday.)
The food was delicious but our service wasn’t the greatest. Our server forgot our salads and then when this was pointed out to her (we were halfway into the meat course), she insisted that she had brought them. After all four of us reiterated that she had not, she brought them out. We were at our table 40 minutes before we received our drinks — it was a good 10-15 minutes before our order was taken and maybe 30 minutes after that before we got them. Our server also left dirty dishes on our table instead of bussing them. Lastly, our server made it known early on that she wanted to leave work by a certain time that evening. I can’t see myself going back for quite awhile after this even though I loved the food.
I make it a point to come to The Melting Pot during Devour Indy because of how incredible the deal is! Coming with a group is always so much fun, and everyone leaves full! This is not the place to come for a quick bite, plan on staying for 2 hours for a full 4-course dinner. The atmosphere is perfect for a date night or for a girls night out.
