The Melting Pot - Buffalo Ratings and Reviews
Just a fair value at $50 pp for 3 people sharing 2 of the 4 course dinners (including 2 wines and a soft drink)
Service was really attentive, friendly and certainly explained the menu and routine for ordering.
Food is OK and a novelty, but it gets boring to eat after a while.
OK once, but wouldn't return
I have not been to this establishment since it opened, and I was very disappointed. The food was subpar, skimpy and dull. Veggies were stale and were not presented in a manner that reflects the price. Bread was hard, not the freshest. Fruit was not very fresh, apples were not crisp and strawberrys were mushy. I was very disappointed in the presentation, and wish I would have went to another restaurant to spend my money. Very disappointed as it was a special occasion, and we left with a bad taste.
We came for our 3 year anniversary, we’ve been to melting pot before, always love it. The waitress recommended a wine for me, it was delish. The waitress was nice and friendly, her name is Shaunua or Shauna.. can’t read how its spelled, all in all it was a good time.
We got the anniversary special so it was a good value for the amount of food we got. We had a reservation at 6:30 but they were able to sit us early at 5:45. Not many people in the restaurant esp for Christmas Eve. Our service took three hours would be my only complaint. I know it’s a longer meal time but with a toddler and an infant I would have hopes to cut that time in half. The waiter was very polite and knowledgeable but he was forgetful and slow.
I have to say I was really disappointed Again. I dine here A lot and the last 2 times I went there were screaming kids so loud that I couldn't hear myself talking. The cheese and chocolate fondue was burnt and our waiter was not very friendly and attentive. This place is expensive to eat at and I would expect a much better quality atmosphere for dining.
There was no tap beer, only bottled beer. For all the beer lovers not a great option. The food is cooked in the clear broth they can do better food with better sauces provided. The cheese option is good. The food is to be had with different sauces served separately, it is not worth the price. The service was good, the beer selected was not available. For people who love flavor and taste you can't get it here, it is just boiled meat. Not for us.
We had a lovely time at the melting pot. Our server right from the beginning was very helpful and professional. It was two of us dining and they gave us a lovely booth in its own private section, very nice and private! Once moving onto our chocolate fondue she surprised us with some writing on the plate in strawberry sauce which was so nice of her! We did the endless fondue and it was great we were definitely full by the end of the night.
We always have a fantastic time at the Melting Pot. Servers and staff are super friendly, have fun with the guests and help create a great experience.
One aspect that you cannot control are the folks that bring young children/babies to the restaurant. Often this results in listening to screaming, crying, and I must believe in some cases burned fingers or worse. Certainly not an appropriate dining concept for kids under 12. Due to the nature of potential injuries, I personally would institute a policy that does not allow children under 12 due to the potential hazards of fondue dining. At a minimum (our Melting Pot has this) - please put all families with young children together in the separate dining room.
Food was very over priced ....just was not for us not much food for the price I really don't think this is a kid friendly place either it was like boiled meat we were eating ...just not for us very diaspointed :( and it was my 40th bday I was not happy by time I left and I have been wanting to come here for ever at melting pot
Went to the melting pot pre- shopping. Knew we were going in for just cheese and salads. There were only 2 of us. The Wisconsin cheddar was good, but we had so many more dippers than we had cheese, I almost felt as if we were shorted on the cheese amount. Usually, we run out of dippers! Our salads were good, but very overdressed. With tip, our bill was close to $60. A bit high for not really eating much food. There was one cocktail, but that was it. The salads are pretty small also.
The food was fabulous ! We all had something different for the main course and everything was amazing. I loved the cheese fondue the best. We will be back for sure because we all want try something different.
The service was excellent. Went above and beyond and her kindness was appreciated.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was perfect. We were celebrating a 60th birthday after a long day of shopping and just wanted something relaxed and casual. Never did we feel rushed to finish.
An excellent choice all round !!
I’ve been to the melting pot several times and it’s usually pretty good. This time, our order was screwed up, we received green bell pepper in our cheese fondu instead of jalapeño, had to ask the waitress twice for a military discount thatbis advertised, and waited a long time for drinks from the bar. I am disappointed that The Melting Post doesn’t offer more than a 5% discount for military personnel, especially on a military related holiday, considering they offer great deals for everyone else (teachers, nurses, etc).
Our waitress was inctedibley nice. Our booth was partially walled in, so it was very intimate (which we appreciated). The food was absolutely delicious
My only critique was that it was very dark and very warm...we started to get very drowsy
Overall, a great date
I attended for the Girls night special and was not disappointed! The cheese was wonderful as always, the salad was delicious and the chocolate was heavenly! Our waitress was also amazing! She was bubbly and very attentive! She also had good wine reccomendations as pairings to the cheese! Not my first time there and will not be my last! Outstanding!
The Melting Pot is not a bad restaurant, but the server really followed the "script", which we did not appreciate and we felt rushed out.
We were asked for our cheese fondue selection prior to placing our drink order, we were asked for our dessert choice while eating our salad, and we were asked if we wanted our bill when dessert was first brought to the table. I understand that servers are to follow protocol and are probably given small sections in order to provide good service, but I felt like we were being rushed out so they could get more tables in. Food was okay, not worth the value TBH and I felt like when we decided against the 4-course option, the server looked down on our choice.
Next time we are down to visit Buffalo, I'm not sure we will be visiting here.
We visited from outside of Toronto ON. We were away on a girls shopping weekend( to celebrate my sisters birthday) at the Walden Galleria and had reserved a table at The Melting Pot for dinner. Our service was outstanding, the food was incredible. we were not rushed whatsoever. The wine list is extensive (we enjoyed a couple of bottles of Mezzacorona Pinot Grigio - it complemented the all three courses wonderfully - its crisp and clean finish was a delight.) We started with the Wisconsin Trio for our cheese course, the Bourguignon for our main (I wish they'd have given us the option to turn the last of it into a rice dish - that broth was divine after cooking our veggies and chicken, ravioli and filet mignon... *sigh... just thinking of it... mmmm... we ended our meal with 'making our own' dessert - dark chocolate and grand marnier - fantastic! Its a fun and interactive experience. (We will definitely make the drive for The Melting Pot again!) - Tip - check their website out for their events, we lucked out - during our visit it was the end of restaurant-week and so we enjoyed our menu for around $31.50 USD each. Cheers! Thanks for the memories Melting Pot!
This is a nice mix of cozy and intimate or great for a group depending on where you sit. I came for my birthday with my husband and this is one of the most romantic restaurants I've been to. We walked past a main dining room with a large group, and walked through a maze of smaller rooms to our table where I couldn't see another diner. The tables are situated in a way, that while in your booth, there isn't any other people within view. It's very cozy and romantic. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful and the food was really good. I would go again.
