The Melting Pot - Austin - Northwest Ratings and Reviews
We had a very friendly waitress who gave us great recommendations on our choices. We were there for a Teacher Appreciation Dinner (thanks for the free chocolate fondue for later!) We were disappointed and confused by the extra charges (for cooking styles) that appeared on our bill. We were unaware that choosing different cooking styles was extra - which btw, I don't think it should be.) After talking to the manager, she kindly removed the charges. Thanks! The food was excellent and it's such a great experience. You can have some great conversations as this dining experience can take 2+ hours!
I had an amazing time here. It was my birthday and everyone there made sure to tell me Happy Birthday. It was so thoughtful. I got candles on my pound cake, free chocolate strawberries and free champagne! Our server Dani was great. So nice and joyful. My friends and I come semi-regularly for girls nights, but this time was really memorable. Thanks to everyone there!
I come here all the time, one of my favorite restaurants. Although, this time we had a new waitress whom was not comfortable or knowledgeable of the menus or pots. We had to get another pot because the oil got too hot & was popping all over the place & on us. However, we made the best of it, the love martini was the best part.
My husband and I went to the melting pot since we had been craving fondue for awhile. We had not been there in at least 10 years and had a wonderful time!! We will not wait so long between visits next time. We had a great server and they treated us so well, very attentive. The food was great and the whole experience was very fun! Just keep in mind that it does take awhile to work through the courses if you go the 4-course route, although the time definitely flies when you're having fun! :)
I haven't been to The Melting Pot in years, and it was way better than I remembered it to be. Our waiter was great, as well as the other staff, who were all very attentive to our needs. We brought our teenage children for the first time and I was worried because they can be picky eaters, but they enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. I was very happy with the four course meals that we had, and everything tasted delicious!
First time coming here and I loved it. Came for my boyfriends birthday and they gave him a box of complimentary chocolate covered strawberries which was very nice. We each had four courses and were pleased with each. Our server explained how everything works and we had no problems. I’d definitely come back next time my family comes to visit, I look forward to trying more options out.
Lackluster. The cheddar cheese course was bitter and didn't taste like cheddar. Our main course was fresh and delicious. Chocolate course was great. Service was very slow at first, and then, as we were one of the last people there before we even got to our chocolate course, was rushed. "You guys are STILL cooking?" Well, yes, when you spend almost $200 on a meal, on your anniversary, you don't eat it the way you'd eat a happy meal at McDonald's. Our plates were being picked up as my husband was still eating! It was incredibly awkward and short-sighted. If we come back at all, it will be for dessert only. We won't be dropping that kind of money for that again.
Sadly the service was poor. The server was very nice but would leave for long periods of time without returning and our dinner took 2 hours as a result. We were only one of a few in the restaurant so there was really no reason for not being better served. I even had to get up and go looking for him at one point.
The food is good but $104 for three (only one bar drink) was excessive. The carpet next to our booth was worn and had tears as did the booth across from us showing the restaurants age. All in all not the best. I would have likely said something but I was treating my daughter and her boyfriend for her birthday and didn't want that to be what they remembered. Disappointed and likely will not return.
The over all experience was absolutely amazing! Our waiter, Gino, was great. My friends and I had gotten together for our friends 20th birthday, of course a group of girls are going to get kind of loud at times, he dealt with our craziness so well and even chimed in from time to time. He made our over all experience 10x better!
I frequent the melting pot, and had a great server who made our night fun. He brought champagne and chocolate covered strawberries for my friend as it was her birthday. A nice touch. Service was a little slow, however we enjoyed our time to talk to one another. Thank you very much for a fun evening! I can’t wait to take my boyfriend here.
The Melting Pot is an amazing fondue restaurant - with amazing service! If you've never done such dining - YOU MUST TRY IT! It is perfect for "that special occasion"! By far, my MOST favorite part was the dessert! Dipping brownies, fruit, and other goodies... BOOM! DYNAMITE!
Weekends can be very - very - busy. We went on Tuesday night - with 5:30 reservations. We arrived at 5:15 and were seated within 3 minutes!
I recommend visiting!
Dinner for five seemed terribly expensive, not to mention the three hours it took to get our food, cook it, and we did not even get dessert! Worst of all, we were put in a back corner Booth that had no ventilation with other tables cooking oil around us. There were five people in our party and at any one time at least one or two of us had to leave the table because our eyes were burning so bad! Not sure how this place can stay in business with no ventilation and all this grease cooking at the table!
We had a very bad service experience. Our waitress seemed uninterested in providing a friendly or enjoyable experience.
We ordered a drink with some changes that were ignored and sent the drink back to have an equally bad one replace it.
Ordering was slow and difficult. The food was delivered by a gentleman that was much more service oriented than our waitress. We would have had a much better evening if he had been our original server.
Ultimately our time was so bad we opted to cancel the dessert fondue and go home as our dinner was ruined.
Incidentally, the dinning room was decorated with Veuve Clicquot bottles, however it was neither on the menu or available.
second time to eat at Melting Pot in N. Austin. first time, 10 years ago for my birthday and 2 nights ago for my 2nd Anniversary. food was phenomenal, as always, ambience was soft and romantic, & service with Destinee was amazing! at the end of the night, 2 glasses of champagne with strawberry hearts on the rim were brought to our table & of course, it made me cry. had never had such a special experience. every bit of the 4 course experience is worth every penny that you spend. oh! & the Deep South Tea is ABSOLUTELY to die for!
We went for the couples special, we asked if it applied to everyone at our table since we had an uneven party due to a friend’s husband being away. It was implied that she would get the same promotion, but when it came time to order she was told she would have to pay full price. Had we been notified beforehand we would have declined to dine on this occasion.
We have been Melting Pot customers for a very long time (fondue club member), since this Austin location opened actually. We love the food and the ambiance but I was a bit disappointed this time. We came to celebrate our son's 21st birthday (pretty special birthday) and the server didn't even do anything special. Usually, the birthday person gets a special plate with Happy Birthday written on his dessert plate. This time, nothing. The server kept forgetting to bring us what we asked for such as more wheat bread for the cheese fondue, refills on iced teas, extra marshmallows for the chocolate fondue. When we finished our salads, the server had to ask us to repeat our order for the entree again because either he didn't write it down or the kitchen lost the order. He did told us it was very busy that night (Saturday night) but this is not a new restaurant and they are usually busy on a Saturday night anyway so that's no excuse.
My husband and I always consider this restaurant for special occasions and we are never let down by the food or the wait staff - both were great this time. However, the hostess was very rude and did not acknowledge me after I gave her our name for the reservation. Instead, she had an argument with whoever was helping her out about where to seat us. Also, we were seated in a high traffic area where everyone passed the table and that detracted from the experience considerably. Our fellow guests seated at the tables near us were also quite loud and I got to hear them read the menu out loud and provide every opinion that ever crossed their mind about everything they had experienced in life. I love the concept and the food but these types of experiences make me think twice about coming back.
We love the Melting Pot for our anniversary and birthdays! We don't get to go out much with two little ones. I definitely prefer the San Antonio one as they make your anniversary feel like a special day and the Austin one did nothing to acknowledge it. I also am a club fondue member and they didn't have any strawberries made and that's one of my favorite things about Melting Pot. It was good just nothing over the top like it usually is.
Not for casual meals; not for quick meals, not for sodium restricted - our dinner (okay 3/4 of our dinner) took 2 1/2 hours from the time we were seated to the time we left. Part of it is the restaurant (you have to cook your own food/food is cooked at your seat) but part of it for our visit seemed to be our food not being ready - at one point we had to turn down our broth because it was boiling off without anything to cook in it! Don't know if it was just the way the restaurant is or if it was poor service that evening. So we were too tired of the ordeal (after 2.5 hours!) to eat our dessert, but at least we got vouchers for them.
So plan to spend time here if you want to eat.
I've been to Melting Pot's in three different states and keep coming back for more. It's great for the full four course meal. Although it you're looking for something not as expensive and just as filling I highly recommend the dessert and wine menues! Our server was awesome and gave us honest opinions. Also, it was a great place and experience for my friends and I to get together.
Our service was great and the food was excellent. This was my husband's first time here and I haven't been for years. Our server was very knowledgeable and made great recommendations. She also made some accommodations due to diet restrictions. We enjoyed it and will be coming back.
The food is amazing. Our waitress was extremely friendly and when she got busy the manager came over and had no problem serving our next course to us. I saw the manager walking around talking to multiple tables making sure everyone had what they needed. Everything was perfect.
We celebrated my 60th birthday and enjoyed the full brunch! It was our first visit and the entire staff was friendly and explained the process well! Drinks from the bar were yummy! Fondue was amazing! Meat fondue delish! But the chocolate fondue was amazing and so fun! Highly recommend for special occasions! It's a little expensive but well worth it! I want to go back!
Service was pretty bad. Cheese fondues were cold. Oil wasn't hot enough, and we kept having to ask them to turn up the heat. It was my birthday. I put that it was my birthday in the reservation notes. I didn't get a complimentary prosecco, small dessert, or even someone sing to me. It was pretty pitiful and disappointing. It will be a long time before I return! Not cool, Melting Pot.
