The Melting Pot - Arlington VA

We went to The Melting Pot for a special date night. Our individual server was fantastic and personable. The remainder of the staff was ok. The service and ambience were a bit lacking for the type of dinner and price. When going to The Melting Pot in Atlanta and elsewhere, there seemed to be more personalized and deliberate effort placed into customer service. All in all, it was a decent experience and good food.
Made a reservation with Open Table. Left very late from my house. Encountered traffic and was nearly 1 hour late for reservation. Fortunately, the hostesses were very accommodating and there were plenty of tables available. The rest of the evening was Melting Pot fabulous!
Food recommendations were okay, but I went for my anniversary during restaurant week so the value to food quality was fine. Had I paid full price my expectations for service and food quality would have been much higher.
This eating experience was everything I could ever want and more. You eat slowly, and every course is well sized. Mike was a joy as our server. So incredibly glad we tried this for restaurant week.
Good food, good service. All around great experience.
Loved waitress Tamara! Great personality and fun to talk to
We love the Arlington Melting Pot! We feel like we are always treated special and the food, hands down, BEST of any restaurant we go to!!!! Great service and management. We could not have had a better experience or have been more satisfied!
very unique restaurant and dining experience. xxxx
Five of us had a nice time. It is all about the company and the time shared with food.
We had a great time and the food was delicious as always. Our server, Steve, was fantastic and he even gave me a birthday surprise which was very much appreciated :-)
Great momma daughter dinner. Friendly service and fun experience. Lots of choices.
Server was incredibly slow. It took over 3 hours and we had to skip the desert course. It wasn’t busy at all. She just spent a lot of time at each table telling stories and chatting to the detriment of all other customers. When we tipped only 10%, she asked what was wrong. We told her service was too slow and she threw a fit. Actually tossed the bill on the floor and commented that she didn’t even want to clean our table now. I steered my young daughter away quickly to avoid seeing it. Food was amazing and we may return but would not accept same server.
Always a great meal and experience.
put instructions to do flowers and picture for an extra 25$
they did none of it
and waiter visited our table a whole 2 times all night
lucky I always tip good
Would not recommend. Food is only eatable and not worth the price you pay.
The server was amazing . This was birthday celebration and the birthday boy had never had the melting pot before. However the grill idea is horrible . It’s just unseasoned dry meat.
Always a solid choice. Good service. Excellent food. It's a lot of fun.
Great Experience and date night
Great food, great service. This is always a favorite. It is getting more expensive. $200 for three people is higher than I would like to pay. Great for special occasions, but spendy.
I have not been to the Melting Pot in over 10 years and was excited to go back, but sadly it has gone downhill.
One of our appetizer plates had not been washed well and had chocolate all over it. Then my brother’s salad had a metal bracket in it (!!!) Thankfully he saw it before biting into it but the waiter didn’t apologize. The manager DID later come back and apologize and told my brother that his drinks were on him, but when the bill came his drinks were still on the bill. The table didn’t have enough cutlery and we didn’t see our waiter very often so I had to get up and get a roll of silverware from the next table. The food was good but not good enough to make up for the rest of the experience.
Just hot, and the food is pretty lame. Japanese steak houses are a better show and less expensive.
Our waiter was amazing, very kind, and attentive. The food was delicious! It is pricey but so fun for a special occasion.
It was great for a nice Tuesday night bday dinner. Great waiter.
I go to the melting pot every year for my birthday and it has never disappointed me! Will keep coming back for many years to come!
We couldn't have had better service from the moment we walked in and with our waitress constantly providing the best service. Food was delicious.
Food was great. They have this new grill, where you can grill your foods right there. Since we were a big table, we were able to grill and boil our food. The grill was a big hit; my husband said that it gave him ideas on how to grill at home. The service was really great. The server was attentive and offered us extra dippers for each course. The event was to celebrate my Mom’s 78th birthday. It was a wonderful surprise for her with the balloons, Candy wafers, and birthday cake. We often visit the Melting Pot for special occasions and this time was just as nice as all of the other times.
Great service and outstanding food. I always enjoy the Melting Pot and this location was no exception. The servers were awesome, drinks were on point, and the food was marvelous. I highly recommend.
Disappointed in the level of service. Our server was pleasant but we were a bit rushed which was ridiculous because they were empty! Also there was zero explanation of the process, coming here used to be an experience where the server talked you thorough the process as they were making the cheese fondue, gave you instructions on how long to wait before digging in, Gabe the mushroom cap recipe with the green goddess stuffed and then battered. None of that. The batter for the meat/veggies was also different, too liquid and zero taste. We won’t be coming back sadly. I can see why they have to resort to groupons.
The Groupon did the job of getting us to return - we used to come fairly often but for some reason, Melting Pot had fallen off our radar. We love the slow pace, time for companionship and conversation. In fact, we first spent some time at the bar where John, excellent barkeep, made lovely drinks for us (the martinis had little slivers of ice skimming the surface, perfect). Once at table, we were served by the most delightful young woman, Tammy. She was knowledgeable about the selections available, she was attentive, and her pleasant attitude added to our enjoyment of the evening. The food was fresh, nice salads to begin (and cornichons can be had if you ask - a must in our opinion for a classic cheese fondue). The wine list was quite good and wine flights were available as well. Parking is convenient, right under the building, and costs only $2 with restaurant validation. We will definitely return.
Service was fantastic, although a little slow after we finished the main course--probably because of a shortage of servers (we were there at an off-time). The cheese fondues were wonderful; just enough beer or wine to add those flavors, but not so much as to overpower the delicate cheese flavors. No one was overly fond of the sweet potato or squash dipping options--we would have prefered regular potatoes (we only got two pieces of those) and/or carrots or cauliflower during the main course.
The server forgot to turn the burner in for both the cheese and the meat courses, which significantly delayed our time in eating. He rarely came to check in on us - I had to go and find a manager to help get the temperature fixed for the meat course. I wish he would have checked in on us again later. I am going to assume they were short staffed because of the holiday, but service was extremely slow for us and the tables around us.
We were disappointed because we made the reservation here to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. When making the reservation on Open Table, it asked if we were celebrating anything special. I indicated that it was our 10-year anniversary and ordered the Romance Package (for an extra $10). When we got to the restaurant, the hostess quickly seated us at a non-special table and there was absolutely nothing that looked special about the Romance Package. About a third of the way through our dinner experience, I said something to the waiter... and he said that he DID see that we were celebrating our 10-year anniversary, but he didn't see anything about the Romance Package. He said he could "run and grab some rose petals and throw them on the table" if we wanted, which we politely declined at this point. He never apologized, nor even wished us a Happy Anniversary. The food was good, but the experience certainly deflated our special celebratory night. We should have gone to a restaurant where employees worked a bit harder to make a special evening special.
Food was great but the service was a little slow for it not being many people there eating. Overall still a great time and would definitely return.
We had the best waiter, Steve attend to us all evening. He was very personable, polite, attentive and funny. The food was amazing and fun to cook, especially with 2 pre teens who thought it was the best ever to cook your own food! We will definitely be back again!
I love the Melting Pot. We go here for almost every special occasion because it's my favorite. My boyfriend and I were out for a date night for the pay the date special on the 30th. I was a bit disappointed with the table we were placed at because it was kind of in the middle of everything and very busy - hard to talk and pretty much no privacy at all. On top of that, our server seemed to be very flustered with the 3 tables he had and was unable to provide pretty attentive service because of it. We had to wait a while to get our initial drinks and then even longer for our second round of drinks. The food came out in a pretty timely manner though as the manager (I believe) brought it out. Overall, not the best experience I've had here but I will likely come back because as I said - it's my favorite.
Always a great time. Always a great meal. Good food. Good service. From start to finish, it's great.
Skip the chicken breast, don't skip the chocolate fondue, and be aware that the food here is incredibly rich. You will go home and spend the rest of your night laying down rubbing your belly, but it will be worth it.
We took our 7 and 9 year old kids out for a special treat. They loved it.
