The Melting Pot - Albuquerque Ratings and Reviews
The food wasn't as good today as it normally is... the chocolate tasted almost like there were chemicals in it... the service wasn't great. The Melting Pot is usually amazing. I left disappointed this visit. It was defiantly NOT worth what I paid for it :-(
Honestly, if we had better service, our experience would have been better. We could hear the other servers being helpful and checking in with their tables, but our server was MIA. We waited excessive amounts of time for water refills, plates, and courses. We probably won’t visit this Meltinh Pot again, but we will visit others.
Came in with my family and they sat us next to a group meeting room. Food was mediocre. Garlic should be sautéd in butter before the wine is added. This was not the case this time, and the garlic was very bitter. The wine should have been cooked before the cheese was added. This was not done properly, either. Our server dumped it all in and then sprinkled nutmeg on top, rather than adding it to the melt. Nutmeg on top is strange and unappetizing; but we mixed it in and ate it because it's cheese, of course.
I felt like the waiter was attentive to us and he was very helpful with the menu, but he needed better training from his supervisor. No culinary skills and no understanding of what makes a good flavor. He brought the Coq a Vin out already put together (by someone in the kitchen?) and it was very good.
We had a reservation for a party of 7 and got seated in a separate room. Floor was dirty, it seemed it had not been cleaned after multiple seatings with food and crumbs all over floor. Table surface felt dirty as well. We visited for the experience than the actual food but for the high end prices we hoped to have found a cleaner establishment.
For the amount of money that you are going to pay for dinner the service was subpar. The server was highly unattentive along with essentially having to beg people to bring you drinks overall the experience was pretty horrible. Needless to say this will be the last time I will be visiting.
The burner at our table ran too low in temperature.
We were here for Christmas Day, with a fixed menu. The cheese course fondue, was warm not hot so the vegetables cooked only slowly. The cool cheese was clumsy. The chocolate course was tepid. It was like a cool chocolate sauce and not even warm. I expect on a cold winter day to have not food. We had to call the server back to heat the bullion to boil so the food would cook. I think for safety reasons she was instructed to keep the temp too low...and folks do not know any better in Albuquerque. I will try this location one more time, but I will not continue to give my patronage if the fondue can not be heated appropriately. The St Clair flight those was very good. They also were very good at accommodating my gluten free needs. Our server was very personable and attentive. At the end said she she believed the burner was faulty.
We went to celebrate a birthday. We took our two girls 4 and 8. We all had fun with fondue eats. Great for couples but the nature of fondue multi-course meal is a bit long for children. We all enjoyed ourselves and the service was fantastic. Absolutely recommend just keep in mind the timeline if you take kids.
First time visit and an anniversary celebration.
Notified restaurant when reservations were made of the anniversary.
Our waitress was not attentive. Noticing that we needed assistance, we received great service from another server Matthew who would ask us if we needed anything.
The food was good and the fondue experience was fun. But it will be a long time before I drive from Santa Fe to ABQ for a dining experience with poor & indifferent service.
I hadn't been to the Melting Pot for a long time and found out what I was missing on Thanksgiving Day! It was just great! Alonzo, although he said he's fairly new, was superb: personable, helpful ideas, professional and friendly--a definite asset! I will be back soon and bring my son and his family!
I made a reservation for my husband's birthday, a very special occasion. We arrived on time and were seated in an area that seemed to be a cave. There was hardly any decoration, and we were isolated. I asked the man who seated us if that area was a utility room, and he laughed and said no. My husband got up to see if there were nicer seating areas, and came back saying they were all the same. We thought of leaving but decided to give it a try. We knew we would be cooking our own food, but thought it might be a fun experience. The menu is pretty difficult to figure out. We sat there and watched as a waitress went to another table and served the people bread and chatted with them. No one greeted us or offered a drink. After 20 minutes of waiting we left and went to Artichoke Cafe where we had a wonderful meal and excellent service. I would never return to the Melting Pot.
This was our first time here. We were celebrating our daughters 17th birthday. I was called prior to our reservation and asked if we wanted to add a teddy bear, roses and chocolate dipped strawberries. We wanted all of that, but the teddy bear was not there when we arrived. I really liked the private room we were in, but would have also preferred background music. There was none, so all we could hear if we weren't talking was the waiters/waitresses walking and talking. Our skewers were a bit crusty. The cheese and chocolate fondu was delicious. Our entree was ok. Was not expecting to cook my own meat. I guess for the amount of money they charge, I was expecting so much more. I would like to go back, but only for the cheese and chocolate fondue. Also, the Blackberry Sage Lemonade was awesome!
I've been dining at the Melting Pot for over 30 years at different locations. Fondue is a nice change from most restaurants and cooking your own dinner gives you an excuse to spend a long time over dinner and enjoying company and conversation. Once upon a time, the dinners would have so much food that we would overeat. I actually was still hungry when I got home this time. We are relegating The Melting Pot to our "Once in a Blue Moon" category.
The Melting Pot is proof that high price doesn’t translate to high class/quality. The dipping veggies looked old, the fruits had brown spots, and the our waitress seemed super unhappy to be there. For $60 per person, skip this place and head to Vernon’s or Antiquity- true high class dining.
Brent was the best waiter hands down I have ever had! He made my wife and I feel comfortable and he made this experience amazing! We will be back! I would recommend Brent as your waiter! Our 1st year Wedding Anniversary was made very special because of him!
The Wisconsin cheddar cheese never seemed to get up to temperature, and was a little beery which I didn't care for. For my entree I ordered 'The French Quarter. I swapped the Cajun shrimp for extra Cajun chicken. I didn't much care to the sausage, but the Cajun chicken and steak were phenomenal. The table decided on smores chocolate for dessert and we added the extra plate with cheesecake, creme puffs and rolled wafer things, that I forget the name for. I wasnt sold on the cheese, but the entree and dessert more than made up for it. Definitely going back.
My 10 year old twins picked this resteraunt for their bithdy dinner. Our waiter was a nice guy, however he ruined our cheese, the time between courses was way to long and I mentioned 3 or 4 times it was their birthday and he never acknowledged it. We were sat in a room all on our own and it felt like we were forgotten. It was not special for them and I will not return.
