The Melting Pot - Ahwatukee Ratings and Reviews
Hostess was absolutely terrible. One of the worst I have ever dealt with at a restaurant. We might as well have been at Taco Bell. In and Out staff rate higher on energy and customer service. But our waiter CJ was more than fantastic and really helped to make our dining experience an amazing one. We were a big group with hangry kids and CJ was accommodating and fast on his toes to meet every need and request. Loved him!!!
We have dined at The Melting Pot for many years. We decided to go there to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary after seeing a movie last Sunday.
We arrived before our reservation time and waited at the bar while our table was prepared. My husband ordered a bottle of Bud Light (which was on display). The bartender brought him a can. My husband prefers bottled beer. The bartender had none of the bottled beers available that were displayed. He settled for a canned beer in a glass.
We were seated at our table fairly quickly. Our server, TJ, greeted us and ask us if we were celebrate a special occasion.
After looking over the menu, my husband and I decided we must have eaten too much popcorn and weren’t as hungry as we thought. We don’t like desserts, so the four course meal isn’t for us. We decided we just wanted cheese fondue and a salad.
TJ seem unhappy with our decision. He prepared our cheese fondue, brought us our salads and my husband had another beer.
My husband and I were visiting and reminiscing at our booth. The music playing was a Daughtry song, we commented to each other that we felt like we were at Applebee’s not The Melting Pot. The “fine dining” ambiance was missing.
TJ flew by and without stopping commented that he would get us our check. We hadn’t ask for it, we were thinking about another drink but okay we will leave.
Overall, it was a disappointing evening and not the place we remembered.
Our food was great. But what I can't stand is when you have a waitress that talks to you like she is reading off a script and you feel no one on one. Felt like she was speeding us out of there. We have been going to the melting pot of years for our anniversary and enjoy the melting pot.
The manager was combative and rude from the time we arrived. Service was extremely slow. The manager came to out table and was argumentative and rude. We left before we got to eat due to the poor service and attitude of manager Victor Felix. Do not visit this location as they do not care about the customer at all.
It was an exceptional first-time experience. The service was outstanding, I always felt tended to and they answered every question I had, with ease. The food was second to none, everything was absolutely delicious and presented in a fun way — I love the unique meal prep and such that can only be found at The Melting Pot.
The server was great, the hostess was robotic, the appetizer and desert fondue great, the meats all tasted the same, like the broth cooked in, nothing special. This would be something you should do once but I don’t plan on returning for a actual meal. I would prefer JC’s Steakhouse in Gilbert for an exceptional food and experience with friends and family.
We have been a regular at The Melting Pot of Scottsdale for many years. After recently moving to Chandler we decided to try this location. It was not a very good experience. I understand our waiter was probably new but to start off with, he brought the wrong bottle of wine. It was not even close to what we ordered. He did a very good job cooking the cheese fondue. However when he brought out the oil and the food, the oil came out very cold and not even close to cooking temperature. We waited about 10 minutes until we saw him again and asked him if he could please turn up the temperature on the oil. He did so and then left. A few minutes later we were both forced to vacate the booth because the oil or something started popping and was spraying oil on the table and the pan was actually popping off of the burner. I jumped up and found the control on the table and turned it down. This was witnessed by the people across the way and they wondered what was going on. I have no idea what was wrong with the oil but something really was. I inform the waiter when he returned to the table. We did not eat a lot of our meal as it was taking very long to cook. When desert came, of course the chocolate was absolutely Stone stone-cold and barely melted. We waited about 10 minutes for the chocolate to heat up before beginning to eat our dessert. It was quite a disappointing meal. And considering that it was a special day and the only thing that could be ordered was the 4 course feast which we were made aware of on the day of our reservation, we probably should have cancelled our reservation and just come back at a less busy time. I could only give this particular meal a 2 at best.
First off we have been to Melting Pot many times and this last time, was the worst and will be the last time. The server was nice, but very uneducated with ingredients, cooking times etc. The food was subpar literally we were served brown apples, crusty dried out celery, wrinkled dried olives and meat that smelled less than fresh (which we didn't eat). We wont be back, spent over $200 and left feeling disappointed and disgusted by the experience.
A very dark and unfriendly ambience. You can't see other guests as you sit in a closed off area.
A confusing menu but the server -an excellent one- explained it to us.
The four course menu is too much food. But we enjoyed two fondue choices. No consistency in the presentation of the tray with the veggies, bread and meats.
The second tray was quite different from the first one.
It's also not easy to find the place if you go for a first time. Very poor signage outside that is barely lit.
All in all, a rather disappointing experience for us.
We go there regular for birthdays, but haven’t been in awhile and it will probably be awhile again, bc the server was just a bit on the frantic side and kept forgetting stuff, much less offering. If that was my first time I wouldn’t return, but people have off nights, and the past has very good.
This is a great place for a romantic dinner or a fun dinner. The fondue is great and the staff makes it that much better. It can get loud in the main dining area, but not too bad. However, they do have private tables with curtains for those special dates or just a quieter experience.
The Melting Pot is a place to go if you want more than just a meal, it is a real dining experience. If you order the four course meal expect to be there for several hours, although it won't seem that long at all. The food is fresh and high quality, and since it is prepared right at your table it is always hot and cooked to perfection. The participatory nature of fondue cuisine sparks great conversation, you won't see people staring at their cell phones. I can't think of a better place for a date night or group outing. It is pricey, so we generally only go on special occasions.
Some recent reviews of the Melting Pot Ahwatukee caused us to second guess our reservation... the restaurant was excellent to us in the past, but sometimes great places devolve into not-so-great places after years of operation. But after our most recent visit... this place still impresses us.
My wife and I finally had time for a date night. When we arrived we had a slight wait for a table, but were seated right before our reservation time (we did get there about 20 minutes early).
We were used to their traditional menu, but they have fund raiser menus that they regularly run. The Entree portion of these menus offer never-ending portions of meat, fish, and vegetables. We decided to try the special menu, and were presently surprised by the quality and quantity of food we received... especially the spinach and scallops... they were cleaned extremely well, no grit or sand at all.
The service was fantastic, prompt, checked back often, had everything setup for us to enjoy the evening with minimal fuss.
I highly recommend this for a date night, expect to spend around $160 for dinner, drinks and an 18% - 20% tip.
We went here for our 1st wedding anniversary and we were not too impressed .... they are very expensive for mediocre food. While it's a neat idea to cook your food in the fondue pot at your table the food was very mediocre.... at best. We waited at the host stand for 7 minutes before we even saw 1 person working and the service is very slow. They also sat everyone in the same section which yes might be easier for them but most people are going for a special occasion and want a little privacy. If you insist on going I would say only go for dessert.
We enjoyed our dining experience tonight for our 9 year olds birthday. Victor the GM was very hospitable and checked in with us several times to make sure everything was satisfactory. Stevie, our server as very sweet and paced our courses just right. We had a wonderful time together as a family and our daughter loved the experience. Thank you Melting Pot for a great dinner we won't soon forget.
No recomendations. Very lacking on intimate seating. Bar closed, more than half the restaurant closed for the evening. Rushed to table despite being early for reservations. Host was rude when we said we wanted to have a glass of wine at the bar. Slow wait service when escorted to table early. Seemed a lot of confusion, even when ordering the non four course meal we confused our waiter. As well the standard Swiss fondue was a challenge to be made. Burner not hot enough, difficult getting constancy, too thin. Been here many times as well the melting pot in other states. Will not return to this location, has really let itself go. Considering, most likely not attending another melting pot again. Bad review but honest. Thanks.
