The noise level is absolutely way beyond a comfort level for conversation. I've periodically been to the Med over 20 years but as a spot to allow discourse it's not supportive
Growing up in Boulder I thought it would be great to celebrate The Med`s 25th anniversary & also take Mom out for Valentines day at the same time.
Upon arrival the Hostess had our reservation but rushed us to the back of the restaurant to sit in a dark corner even though at 1:45 the restaurant had few people.
We asked for a table with more daylight. She seemed annoyed we would even ask & then disgruntedly marched us to the bar area to an incredibly small 2 top. Even though many other tables were open. Slapping down the menus & running off to the hostess station where no one awaited her exuberant return.
Our waitress finally showed up 15/20 minutes later, giving us no name & seemed equally as rushed but only having 3 tables including ours at that time. We ordered drinks & stated we`ll order food when she returns. Much to our chagrin even those took another 15 minutes to deliver, Bar also not busy.
We ordered appetizers & proceeded with our hurray up & wait experience. Our entertainment became Watching the Chef or Sou Chef hand deliver every entree to 2 young women sitting at the table next to us. At first we thought how professional to make sure the patrons are enjoying the food. Only realizing he never did make it to any other tables becoming obvious he was either dating one of them or a sadly cheeky attempt to do so. Being as one of them declined a filet Mignon's he brought, not even having ordered it.
Meanwhile our appetizers grew cold sitting on the bar, within view but sadly without a server to deliver them to their destination. Finally the waitress dropped them off & was on the run again. Luckily before she was out of ears reach we called to please bring some bread.
The entrees arrived 45 minutes later which would have been acceptable had it not been both were entree salads requiring very little prep time. All in all it took 2 1/2 Hrs to complete our meal. Leaving a lasting but unpleasant aftertaste to a restaurant once exceptional.
It was amazing for Valentine’s Day
My first time to the Med and they did not disappoint. We got an awesome table. They gave me a rose. We ordered like 10 things off their tapas menu that is super long and affordable. Service was great as well.
I was rather disappointed in where we sat. Here was this new section, and they placed a group who fine dines regularly in front, then next small children. It felt like Chucky Cheese. My food was fair at best. We had a sweet waitress- she may have been the best thing about this place. However, I’m not sure I’ll be dining there again.
The Med has been our favorite go-to restaurant in Boulder for all 25 years it has been open. A reliable standby for great tapas and happy hour drinks. Because they extend happy hour prices to 6:30 pm, it's a frequent choice for us. Service is always friendly and almost always prompt. Food is eclectic and excellent.
It is such a fun place to go and the food is always great. We had two babies with us and the waiter couldn’t have been more helpful.
We went for Happy Hour and the overall service and their food/drinks were very good. Absolutely satisfied.
We had a delightful time. Food, wine and service were excellent. We came for the small plates - a variety of tastes and flavors and had a good selection. It was somewhat noisy, but we could hear each other.
Devin is a wonderful server and was very attentive and extremely accommodating! We had a great experience
