Great place if you don't mind the hustle and bustle of downtown Boulder, especially crowded if the CU Students are out and about. Definitely get a reservation and get there early to try their happy hour tapas and drinks.
Great experience! Food was delicious and fairly priced at happy hour. Our waiter was awesome—even gave us a free dessert since it was our first time. It’s perfect for a date night or a family dinner (it’s loud in there so no one will hear your kids if they’re loud).
Great until dessert. Cancelled after 20 minute wait for a scoop of sorbet.
The food was excellent. The service was not - after being seated and waiting to order for half an hour, I had to flag down a passing waiter to see who was supposed to be serving us. No one had even come to our table to offer us water, bread, or to take our food or drink orders. To make matters worse, we got there during happy hour and wanted to order our food during happy hour, but since our waitress didn't show up until after happy hour was over, we got charged the higher (non-happy hour) prices. So basically we got charged extra because of extremely late service by the wait staff.
Good menu and flavors, can get a little noisy Paella was excellent.
Had a family get-together and shared the tapas. Tried several of them and everything was amazing. This restaurant is a definite must try.
It was lovely
Another fabulous evening. Great food and wonderful service. Thanks Carlie :)
The food at the Med is very good. We were there on a Saturday night, which was quite packed. The noise level is exceptionally high, so if you have someone with any hearing challenges in your group, try a less busy time. There didn’t seem to be enough servers for the number of people there. Our server was friendly and responsive, but we just didn’t see him enough. From the time we were served our entree to long after we were done, he never checked on our table. Not a major deal, but it didn’t inspire me to the Med either.
It was fine. Not good, not bad, fine.
Our family has been celebrating life events at the Med for 18 years! It never disappoints and we all love it. Celebrated a son’s birthday on the most recent visit.
Fantastic service and great food in a comfortable atmosphere.
We love this restaurant! We go here quite often with our kids and most recently with our grandson! Very nice menu and we love the staff!!
The Med was amazing as always! We've been going to The Med since it opened, we've never been disappointed!
5 of us gathered for lunch, some from out of town, and had a wonderful time. My favorite part was that they very kindly let 2 of us linger for hours as we chatted and worked on drawings. That was the best!!!
Great Happy Hour— Caleb is an excellent waiter and paced our tapas very well. The chicken in phyllo was very tasty as were the mussels — always the best in town.
The menu has something for everyone. Our group of 8 teenaged girls had a great time and enjoyed their food. Since it was a birthday party, we arranged to pay ahead of time, and the hostess handled those arrangements perfectly. The only complaint we had was the noise level. It was so loud (with very loud intrusive music) that the diners could not hear one another easily, even with their young ears! Otherwise, a fun spot for a night out.
The noise level is absolutely way beyond a comfort level for conversation. I've periodically been to the Med over 20 years but as a spot to allow discourse it's not supportive
Growing up in Boulder I thought it would be great to celebrate The Med`s 25th anniversary & also take Mom out for Valentines day at the same time.
Upon arrival the Hostess had our reservation but rushed us to the back of the restaurant to sit in a dark corner even though at 1:45 the restaurant had few people.
We asked for a table with more daylight. She seemed annoyed we would even ask & then disgruntedly marched us to the bar area to an incredibly small 2 top. Even though many other tables were open. Slapping down the menus & running off to the hostess station where no one awaited her exuberant return.
Our waitress finally showed up 15/20 minutes later, giving us no name & seemed equally as rushed but only having 3 tables including ours at that time. We ordered drinks & stated we`ll order food when she returns. Much to our chagrin even those took another 15 minutes to deliver, Bar also not busy.
We ordered appetizers & proceeded with our hurray up & wait experience. Our entertainment became Watching the Chef or Sou Chef hand deliver every entree to 2 young women sitting at the table next to us. At first we thought how professional to make sure the patrons are enjoying the food. Only realizing he never did make it to any other tables becoming obvious he was either dating one of them or a sadly cheeky attempt to do so. Being as one of them declined a filet Mignon's he brought, not even having ordered it.
Meanwhile our appetizers grew cold sitting on the bar, within view but sadly without a server to deliver them to their destination. Finally the waitress dropped them off & was on the run again. Luckily before she was out of ears reach we called to please bring some bread.
The entrees arrived 45 minutes later which would have been acceptable had it not been both were entree salads requiring very little prep time. All in all it took 2 1/2 Hrs to complete our meal. Leaving a lasting but unpleasant aftertaste to a restaurant once exceptional.
It was amazing for Valentine’s Day
My first time to the Med and they did not disappoint. We got an awesome table. They gave me a rose. We ordered like 10 things off their tapas menu that is super long and affordable. Service was great as well.
I was rather disappointed in where we sat. Here was this new section, and they placed a group who fine dines regularly in front, then next small children. It felt like Chucky Cheese. My food was fair at best. We had a sweet waitress- she may have been the best thing about this place. However, I’m not sure I’ll be dining there again.
The Med has been our favorite go-to restaurant in Boulder for all 25 years it has been open. A reliable standby for great tapas and happy hour drinks. Because they extend happy hour prices to 6:30 pm, it's a frequent choice for us. Service is always friendly and almost always prompt. Food is eclectic and excellent.
It is such a fun place to go and the food is always great. We had two babies with us and the waiter couldn’t have been more helpful.
We went for Happy Hour and the overall service and their food/drinks were very good. Absolutely satisfied.
We had a delightful time. Food, wine and service were excellent. We came for the small plates - a variety of tastes and flavors and had a good selection. It was somewhat noisy, but we could hear each other.
Devin is a wonderful server and was very attentive and extremely accommodating! We had a great experience
The hostess at the front desk was friendly and helpful. I found the host next to her to be rude and condescending. He told us that our table would be ready at our reservation time. (We arrived 5 minutes early!)
we were just able to order a drink at the bar before we received a text saying to come back to the host station.
The food was not as reliably good as it has been for the past 25 years that I have been coming to the med to celebrate and meet friends. Not sure I would like to come again.
Friday night is perhaps the worst time to try a meal at The Med. It was packed, it was loud, our waiter forgot orders, it took longer than it should have to receive tiny little plates of tapas that were greasy and subpar. It bewilders me that this place received "top date night" and "top lunch" spot in Boulder's free weekly. It's a factory cranking out just acceptable food. Nothing more. But - maybe a great hook-up joint (?) Not great for a few family members getting together on a Friday night, yelling at each other to be heard over the din at a small table. There are so many better restaurants in Boulder - disappointed with the wasted calories.
Excellent meal; great service; noisy but that is always the case.
Great as always. Still our favorite restaurant in Boulder to go to and always great to bring friends to. Consistently good, great value, and delicious!
The 1993 menu was fun. Our server Madison was wonderful. Please bring back spaghetti Del Mar to the menu! It was great to have this dish again. Delicious!
We came for the Med’s 25th anniversary celebration. Still one of my favorite restaurants.
The meal, rice and shrimp in a skillet was BURNED BLACK, adhering to bottom of skillet. When mentioned to server, response was "Oh, a little crispy for you" in a patronizing tone. NO, offer to correct it, apologize or take item off our final tab!
The Med was celebrating their 25th anniversary, so we wanted to share in that. We ordered tapas and drinks as well as dessert and had a great time. As busy as the place was, our server did an excellent job!
Very nice waiter and in a timely matter he attended us. Went to celebrate "The Med's" 25th Anniversary since we have dined with them a lot over the last 25 years!
I love the tapas menu for a casual meetup with a friend, so many things to try. Plus the vibrant but low key ambiance. Reservations are a wonderful option for those of us who come from Northern Colorado, as is easy parking.
Supposed to be 1993 prices. Ha. Only 2 glasses of wine at $3
Loved the tapas style approach to middle Eastern food. Portions were small letting us try out more plates. Definitely recommend this for a casual night out.
I am surprised that The Med has such great reviews on Yelp and Google. I would say it is mediocre - nothing was wrong with our food or experience, but I could have cooked better food myself and the atmosphere did not make up for the lack of food quality.
