We had a lovely table overlooking the pool area and the ocean.luis was our waiter and the service was excellent. I had the lamb and my husband had the seafood paella - both were excellent. A special meal and well worth the extra dollar.

Our server, Rachel, went out of her way to help us celebrate a fabulous birthday breakfast. Superb food and breathtaking view. A must-stop for us when we’re in La Jolla

We enjoyed our first Thanksgiving dinner in Southern California. This restaurant had a terrific buffet that featured an excellent mix of traditional Thanksgiving food as well as other items that were fantastic.

Additionally the service was top notch and live music really made the evening.

I would highly recommend The Med for any special occasion.

We went for Thanksgiving dinner. The price was higher than posted on Open Table, and the food was just so-so. Disappointed. Maybe their regular menu is better.

This place is fantastic. We stayed at the hotel and ate breakfast here every morning. A+ on every aspect. And the view of the Pacific is world class.

Absolutely love the ambience. Mad a reservation and took about 20 minutes to be seated. Service slow. $28 for basically seasoned cauliflower for the vegetarian entree was underwhelming and overpriced.

Surprisingly, the WORST experience I and my work colleagues have ever had at a business dinner, especially at an expensive restaurant like this. We waited 1 1/2 hours after we were seated before ANY food was served (we had to ask where the food was at that point), and then the food, across the board, was either overcooked (scallops rubbery), average or worse tastewise, and/or ridiculously small portions for the price. Had to ask for a discount for entire table twice. So disappointing, as we were all really looking forward to this dinner. Beware of this restaurant - way overpriced, and worse than overrated.

Can't beat the view of La Jolla shore. Perfectly cooked and very tender flank steak. Charcuterie plate great as a starter for two. Relaxed. Quiet.

We reserved this restaurant for our anniversary. It was lovely. Even though it was a little windy & chilly, they provided blankets to make us more comfortable. The food was very gourmet and elegant. I would recommend it for a romantic evening.

It didn't appear as if the greeter read my special instructions. I had told her that it was my friends birthday and I hoped she would save us a spot outside. However, she did mention that people just weren't leaving their spots.

The food was pretty good though, decent ambiance from the inside. The window was open so we had some fresh air which was nice.

Disappointment. That's the word. We made reservations a month in advance for my husband's birthday. That afternoon, they confirmed the exact location of the table (next to open window looking out to patio where our favorite band was playing). A large party came in and we were forgotten. No more table next to window so we can hear the band. But, never fear, the patio has open seating. They put 4 of us at a table that seats -- what for it -- 3 people! But then said the table next to us was leaving - just move there when they go. So we did. Then the manager comes by and tries to bump us back to the 3-top table so he can squeeze 6 into our newer, bigger table. We refused. Our waitress, Kate, was very nice (she saved the evening). Unfortunately, I think she had the whole patio to herself and was overworked, so we didn't even order dinner until 90 minutes after arriving. We don't intend to return.

We went to the LaValencia hotel to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The hotel is wonderful but we were very disappointed in the food at the Med. My husband's fish was good but my steak was tough and the prawns were over cooked. It was very expensive for the quality and portion size. ☹️

I took my staff here for a celebration lunch and it was lovely. We sat out on the balcony patio and the view was spectacular. We waited a long time for a server to approach our table but once he did the service was great - leisurely but attentive. The food - from appetizers to dessert - was amazing. All of us were impressed with every dish that came out. It tasted sublime and it was plated beautifully.

I will definitely come here again. What a gem!

We've been comin here for years. The atmosphere is really nice; in La Valencia hotel, with large glass windows that look out to the ocean in the distance. But unfortunately the view and interior are the only thing this place has going for it. The food is very pricey, yet the quality is low. I ordered a salmon salad. Although I asked the waiter (2x) to make sure not to overcook it, it showed up overlooked and totally dry. It was also super small (4 bites worth!). They redid it and it was still overcooked. Also the Caesar dressing was definitely bottled and not made fresh, which is ridiculous at these prices. The service was non-existent (there were 8 of us so a 20% gratuity was automatically added - guess they new they were getting their money so they could go ahead and ignore us. Waters not refilled and no one was crazy about their food - and felt the portions were super small. Also, When I made the reservation I mentioned we had 2 birthdays we were celebrating. They never acknowledged this. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I have only onle claim; i was with my husband and my babay on sunday 3 septrmber 2017 and i asked the person responsible for reservation taht their are some persons whi left a table on the corner and i prefered to sit there; he responsed that it is reseved and it was not.

Restaurant was SO nosiy with screaming and terrible live music outside. Very expensive for what you are served. Boiled cauliflower was $28-00 😳 Octopus good but redpepper nage SO overpowering, took away from the dishes flavors all together!

My cousin and her husband was visiting San Diego for the first time and La Valencia Hotel was the perfect, perfect place to introduce the beautiful La Jolla Scenic view at :).
They were extremely accommodating for my super anxious dog as well.
We visited them for Sunday brunch and it really was lovely. We took the in door table, but I'm sure we would have enjoyed the patio just as much (especially with the view).
We enjoyed every dish as well as drinks (variations of coffee). I definitely recommend this place :).

Ambiance is fantastic. Patio table overlooking the ocean. Appetizers were very good (tomato soup and yellowfin gazpacho). Entrees were awful! Brick chicken was very fatty and presented in a smothering cream sauce. Salmon was burnt to a crisp on the outside and raw on the inside. Several pieces of crispy skin were touted as an enhancement. Who wants to eat fish skin anyway? Vegetables were grossly over-cooked. The food only portion of the meal was $125 for two. I don't mind paying that for outstanding food. Once we got past the appetizers the rest of the meal was an overpriced disaster.

I love the Sunday Brunch at this place. The food is great and very reasonably priced and the view on the patio is just beautiful. I eat here at least once a month and have never been disappointed with the food or service.
Everyone from the Hostess to the Busboys to the Waiters are very friendly and professional.
Highly recommended!
