The Mebane Downtown Table
We wanted to stop here for lunch because I had a previous excellent experience at the restaurant. Sunday is a brunch menu. My husband had the steak and eggs. I had the eggs Benedict. Outstanding meal. The steak was to die for. The eggs Benedict were over a beautiful crab cake. It was delicious. We topped it off with dessert. We chose the coconut cake and it did not disappoint. It was a perfect share plate. We left stuffed and determined to dine here again.
We very much enjoyed an elegant, quiet Sunday lunch with our Elon college student. The ingredients were unusual - hearts of palm with a suggestion of tarragon (maybe?) in a plentiful crab salad that wouldn't throw off the calorie count. We are definitely recommending The Table to friends and hope to try the serious cocktails when we return!
Great experience!!Always enjoy tThe Table!!
Mebane is lucky to have this great restaurant in town!!
We enjoyed our 10 year anniversary visit on 10/5. Food was delicious but service was lacking.
We had friends visiting us from NYC on the way to Charlotte and we picked Mebane Downtown Table off I-85 so we can meet for lunch. The location was perfect and it was easy to find a parking space on Sunday. The restaurant was very nice and the food was good. It just took long to get our food otherwise everything was perfect.
After lunch, we also stop by the Tanger Outlets to do some shopping
Fantastic food and dining experience in the quaint town of Mebane, between Greensboro and Durham, NC. Went for brunch and to celebrate a birthday. The crab cakes eggs Benedict, shrimp and grits, and Argentine steak and eggs were fabulous. Servers and staff all very personable and attentive. Definitely recommend!
Very enjoyable brunch. Service was excellent and friendly. Charming dining room. Menu was small, but offered a variety of options that should cover most tastes. The croissant with pimento cheese, egg, and thin sliced country ham was outstanding. Will definitely come back when we are in the area.
Somewhat limited menu, but what the made was excellent. Pleasant and efficient service without being pushy even though we were the last seating. Well crafted cocktails as well. Will definitely return next time in town
The service was great! We were seated promptly For brunch and our waitress was table side shortly to take out drink order and tell us about the specials. I ordered a Bloody Mary and it did not disappoint. The Mebane Downtown Table has one of the best Bloody Marys I’ve ever had. We ordered the green eggs and ham as an appetizer and we were not disappointed. The eggs were delicious and the honey- sriracha sauce put it over the top. Not too hat but a good kick. I ordered he steak and eggs. Everything was perfectly cooked and delicious! My wife ordered The Table Burger and could only finish half of it. We enjoyed the rest of it that afternoon for a snack. Outstanding service, food and ambiance.
Brilliant meal and fabulous cocktails. Service was impeccable. A really marvelous experience.
They have such good food but I get disappointed when I have something I love and then the next time I go, it's not there!! I've never been disappointed with anything I have ever eaten there :)
The food was amazing, we can’t wait to come back.
First time back with the new chef. Food was delicious and the presentation was lovely. Looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us as he settles in and the seasons change. Heartfelt welcome to Chef Irving!
Made a 10 30 AM Sunday brunch res.
Welcomed by a nice hostess, dressed beautifully with a nice smile. Seated and beverage order taken. Coffee wad excellent. Owner has a great coffee shop across the street (Reeds). Wonderful biscuits brought out.
I had Blackened Shrimp and grits very good. My wife had The Table burger. She said it was great. We each had a salad. Mine had cornbread croutons. Nice!
We took bread pudding dessert home. My wife is the expert on that. She said it would have been better at the restaurant. I thought it was good. One of our favorite restaurants. We've eaten there several times over the years. Their new chef is from New Orleans.
First, let me say the service was OUTSTANDING! Our server Brad was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. The ambiance was great. The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated, the lighting is gorgeous and it gives off a very classy and romantic vibe. The food however.... was extremely underwhelming. My husband ordered the prime rib ($38, I think) and I had the shrimp and grits. His prime rib was cooked in a way I have never seen prime rib cooked before. It seemed like it was thrown on the grill the same way you would a rib eye steak. It wasn't even served with Au Jus or horseradish! The baked potato was over cooked and hard... and the zucchini was practically tasteless. My shrimp and grits was more flavorful, unfortunately though, the shrimp were WAY overcooked and tough, and maybe it is a personal preference for me, but I hate when restaurants leave the tails on... It just makes a mess and more work for the customer. We were truly hoping the dessert would be their saving grace but even the Creme Brulee was sad. No toppings, no fruit, no whipped cream... I have to say as someone who has worked in the service industry and has traveled and eaten at some great restaurants, The Mebane Downtown Table has great service and the ambiance is fantastic but if you are going to charge high end prices, you better make sure you serve high end food that not only looks good but actually tastes worth the money you are spending. As great as the service was and as charming as the atmosphere is, I doubt we will be back for dinner. I may give them a try for brunch simply because we still have some gift card left to use, but once that is done, we won't spend our money on overpriced and underwhelming food.
It was quite the nice discovery and we appreciate all of the effort that has obviously gone into the menu. The gluten-free and vegetarian options are so thoughtfully presented. We’ve been twice now and while we aren’t local, we hope to visit again soon. Evening ambiance could use some adjustments such as dimming the lights and keeping the candles lit on the tables. Ours was burned out most of the evening and it kind of felt like last call in there with the lights on bright. But otherwise, the food is incredible and I'd definitely visit again.
We love MDT. It's our go-to place for a nice meal or for special occasions.
What a nice, refreshing oasis in the middle of downtown Mebane! This was our first time eating here, but definitely not our last. We met family for a late Sunday brunch. We were the last customers of the day, but the staff never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable. The angus burger was the best I’ve ever eaten! Props!!!
New chef in the kitchen, and the food is still good with more choices for vegetarians & pescatarians. One appetizer was very slow to arrive at table, otherwise great service. Nice place for dinner, and quiet enough for easy conversation.
The service was very slow. Their are approximately 10 items on the whole menu, but they had run out of a few of them. Our food was cold when it arrived. So cold that the butter would not melt on the potato. We spent about 2 hours in the restaurant to eat only an entree because everything took forever.
The new Chef from Louisiana is superlative! Under his leadership this restaurant should develop into a destination for area foodies. Decor's not too pretentious, but softly refined and complimented by very professional service. Nice sized portions and the cost is very reasonable. My wife and (Greensboro) I are planning to go back and take some friends! It was definitely worth the 40 min drive. If you go, you won't be disappointed.
Food was delicious ! Chef was accommodating to my diet restrictions. I appreciate good local restaurants that know how to create beautiful and delicious food.
It was the new chef's first night and we were a party of 6. So we know they were all still figuring it out. The wait time for the appetizers and then the entrees was long. Fortunately, our table of 6 hadn't seen each other in awhile, so we ordered drinks, chatted, and caught up with each others' lives. When the food came, it was absolutely delicious! The chef hails from New Orleans, and my blackened catfish was wonderful. Another of our party said the salmon was the best she had ever had!
This is the second time (and will definitely not be the last time!) we have been to Mebane Downtown Table, and loved it! We have been here for lunch and a birthday dinner. All our entrees, appetizers, and desserts were outstanding and just delicious, as were our cocktails. The staff is super nice and friendly, the ambience is warm and pleasant, it is very neat and clean, and we are so happy to have found it, as we are fairly new to the area. I feel the prices here are also very reasonable considering the high quality of food and service we have received. We will be back as often as we can, and hope to take friends and family here when they are in from out of town.
This is such a great place to dine. I love it. I highly recommend it.
Excellent food, prompt service, and good drink service.
We had a very nice birthday meal at the Mebane Downtown Table. My salad was a bit underwhelming but my shrimp and grits were delicious. The wine list was good and we had an opportunity to try a varietal we don’t see often. Service was attentive. Over, it was a good if not memorable experience.
We always enjoy going to The Table and have eaten there for brunch and dinner. The food is always very good, but when I checked the menu before going I saw that it was the same items they have had for some time and I was disappointed that they had not changed it and offered something new and hoped they had an interesting special for the night. To our pleasant surprise they had about four special appetizers and main dishes. I had a wonderful salmon dish that was out of this world. It had a cajun type seasoning that was perfect, not overpowering, and the sauce it was surrounded with was incredible. Needless to say I had a clean plate. Our waitress said there were new items coming to the menu in a few weeks and I said I hoped that dish was on it because I definitely would get it again. Now I am excited to go back in a few weeks and see what new dishes the chef has for us. So glad The Table is in Mebane!
We've never been to The Mebane Downtown Table before and found it to be a nice surprise in the middle of Mebane! The ambiance is very nice, with tablecloths on the tables, quiet atmosphere, we were there for an early lunch. The food was excellent and our server, Natasha was very forgiving for our lack of speed in deciding what to order and a very good server. The only glitch was a different server giving us our bill before we had an opportunity to order dessert. She said the menu would be changing soon as they have a new chef so time will tell if the changes are positive or not. I would recommend this restaurant if you are looking for something different than the usual chain restaurants.
Great meal and atmosphere as usual!
Limited menu, but good. A few minor changes to our order were well received and well executed.
Excellent food and service. The table we were initially seated at was under a blowing air conditioner vent. Waiter very kindly moved us to a different table.
Only had three entrees shown on menu and slow kitchen.
Terrible service! Restaurant was not even that busy. Server not properly trained.
The Table is a nice space, nice people, and a desire to be a first class restaurants (reflected in the pricing). Unfortunately, the food overall was quite disappointing, and the servers, while lovely people, were not well trained. I hope that they can up their game....
Always before, YES. On Thursday night, just after 7, they had sold out of 4 entrees and 3 apps...leaving little choice. Very disappointed as we selected based on prior visits for a special occasion.
My friend and I enjoyed a delightful lunch. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I highly recommend TMDT if you're in Mebane.
Too many flies. Wilted flowers on table. Most meals were great, fish tacos were dry. Cobwebs on chandelier. Clean restroom.
The new Blush, Peach Schnapps Mimosa was fantastic.
