We had an unfortunate dinner at the Marsh Tavern for the Easter holiday and it has changed our opinion of the restaurant. The dining room and menu has been redesigned and there are some definite misfires with the new design. The club chairs that they have at all the tables are about three inches too low with high arms and a slippery seat cushion that kept sliding out from under us. My son can't eat gluten, and ordered a GF pasta, which was underdone and crunchy. It seemed like an afterthought. My wife's sausage and lentil stew had no discernible sausage in it and was a tasteless broth. My chicken was overdone and dry with a lumpy, watery mash of something and burnt root vegetables. We ordered a scallop ceviche, which looked quite nice, but was almost tasteless. The menu redesign is awkward and limited in scope and left us wondering what exactly they are trying to accomplish with it. We have been at the Marsh Tavern a number of times and have had memorable meals there. This one was memorable as well, but not a memory that we wish to keep. It's an unfortunate misfire on many fronts. I help that they work things out with their redesign of the space and menu.
The menu at the Marsh Tavern offered something for everyone. The options were unique and presentation was beautiful. Even the complimentary bread box had a unique twist with carrots and pepper jelly. The decor and lighting has recently been updated and was very soothing and comfortable.
The only negative to the dinner is something that the restaurant has very little control over. there were several families with children who apparently do not know how to dine in public or the parents believe that they are vacation from parenting.
Very nice location. Service was great. A bit noisy due to being the first night of a vacation week.
Love the ambiance of this old historic tavern. The bread and crudités platter that starts the meal is amazing!
Staff was great and so was the food. Great end of day meal relaxing at the fireplace.

This is a beautiful hotel - resort but this was not a good experience in the tavern. It seems clear there are staffing and management issues. The room was busy, and the single bartender was also making drinks for the formal restaurant. Management clearly needed to shift someone else to the bar to assist, but that did not happen while I was there. It made for a rough dining experience.
I thought it was over priced for 2 small crab cakes I think it was $19 it looked more like an appetizer than an entree. And there were kids running all over the place just because they are staying at the hotel doesn't give them the right to run around while others are trying to enjoy their dinner.
We eat here every year we're in Vermont. It never disappoints!
Great tavern menu. Everything is delicious. Waitstaff very friendly and the inn is gorgeous with all it’s beautiful Christmas decorations!

Come here every time we stay at the Equinox. The servers are friendly and the food is great nice, relaxed atmosphere.
The food was good but the noise from the bar was loud. It is probably a great place for pub food and beer- but there are better fine dining options nearby. Wait staff was nice and pleasant but poorly trained. Expensive for the quality.
What a lovely restaurant. Been wanting to dine here for a long time. Definitely make the time to explore the town!
Sorry to say that we can’t make it to the Equinox more that once a year. But that being said 3 good friends getogether and have dinner there. Ambiance is great, and we sat by the roaring fire. For the first time we all felt the waitress was rude, took plates away without asking , never asked if we want coffee or tea and altogether disinterested. There were a number of tables with unruly/ very noisy children. I blame the parents for that. Our meal was good, love the before dinner board.
I have been going here for years. The food is solid. I have not had a bad meal in the Tavern. The service is sometimes spotty, but overall it's a nice cozy spot on a cold day!
Really nice meal, food better than I expected. I ordered meatloaf, which was amazing (and a huge portion ), my husband had short rib, which was really tasty & expertly done.
We started with heirloom tomato salad, perfectly done.

Our server, Jessica was the best part of the evening. She was gracious,funny, and professional all at the same time. Glad we decided to go.
The service was great and the food was delicious, even though the choices on the main menu were quite limited. I ordered from the tavern menu. The whole resort has gotten very casual and it shows by the way people eat. Don't think that this is the fine dining it had been over 10 years ago. Also, some parents dump their kids in the dining room and the kids act as if they are in their school cafeteria. Why does the restaurant allow 5 middle school aged girls to dine without adults and to carry on and distract the other patrons?
The online menu was not current, so items we had planned to try were no longer available. Be forewarned: tables in the "tavern" are really in the lounge/bar area and have zero ambiance with very minimal service. The chicken pot pie was watery, more like chicken soup with a phyllo pastry perched on top. Overall, a very disappointing experience, especially for the money.
The night my husband and I dined at Copper Grouse, the air conditioning was on full blast. We changed our table , but wasn't much better. Subsequent diners all did the same, kept moving around to find a warmer spot. Some went out to car to get jackets. Food was mediocre at best and very pricey. The hotel is lovely, worth a look see.
Bad experience- service slow- menu reflected on line was not offered at hotel. Management was not customer friendly. Basically hotel food priced accordingly. Was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. I would not recommend this resturant to anyone.
Never disappointed. Service, food, atmosphere all perfect. We will be back for sure. Always stop here when in Vermont.
We had dinner here and it was a disappointment. I ordered halibut and requested it not be overdone. It came out extremely overdone. I sent it back and it came back cold and uncooked on top of the same potatoes which were now also cold. I sent it back and skipped dinner. Won't go back, not worth the aggravation. My husbands's sheppards's pie was good but a chef should know how to cook fish. The waitress was very nice and tried very hard. It was not her fault that I had bread for dinner.
Service was very good but the quality of the food was pretty poor and the prices were high.
We have always enjoyed eating at the Marsh Tavern (we had our wedding reception at the hotel and decided to dine there for our wedding anniversary) but had a pretty bad experience this time. We made reservations but had to wait for our table to become available. This would not have been an issue except that the hostess was frazzled and rude and openly arguing with the bartender. She could have suggested we get a drink at the bar and wait for our table but instead just left us standing in the entryway. When we did get to sit down at our table (which was right near the very noisy kitchen) we waited quite a while for our server who was rude and possibly intoxicated (or just really incompetent or both). It took way too long to just get waters and place a drink order. We received our bread and cheese plate right as our appetizers came out (it should have been brought out right away). We were blown away by how terrible the service was, especially when the food and drinks are quite pricey, and left feeling very disappointed. This was not the type of experience we typically have at the Marsh Tavern.

Very good restaurant. We set on front porch and had a good view of church and courthouse across the street. Good waiter and of course good food. We would return there if we're in Manchester again.
Our meals were delicious! Service was good although an amuse bouche or bread basket would have been a nice touch at this price point.
We were disappointed with the Marsh Tavern. The service was very good, but the food was not. The chicken pot pie seemed to have only dark meat, and the pieces of chicken were so large that they had to be cut up with a fork and knife. The five grain risoto served with the halibut was flavorless and dry. At least the beers were great.

We actually switched to the Chop house, which is attached to the Marsh Tavern. The food there is much more high end than in the tavern. The tavern does have very good food, but if you want real high-end steaks & seafood, the Chop house is the way to go. Richard started with the wedge salad which was very good, but he's had better. I had the Caesar, which was excellent. For mains I had the 14OZ. chop cut Filet Mignon. It was very good. Only issue I had was they need to give you a "proper" steak knife. Otherwise it's not that easy to cut even Filet Mignon. Richard had the salmon which was a generous portion that was cooked just right. For dessert we split the "Lemon Mousse Bomb". This was very good, but probably would have liked it a bit more tart.
Overall, our dining experience was very good. We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess was able to seat us outside immediately since the restaurant was almost empty( 6 pm Sunday evening). Chose food from the tavern menu since the regular dinner menu can be a little pricey. Tavern menu selections are numerous and priced fairly for portion size. Food is slow from the kitchen so be prepared to wait . This was ok due to nice weather and enjoyed cocktails. We would go there again.

Unfortunately the night we were there, there was a very large, very noisy group at the restaurant bar which is open to the dinner tables and then they moved into the Chop House in the next room, continuing the noise. Even after dinner it was too loud to sit in front of the fireplace in the library as they continued to party again in the other adjacent bar, this time doing party games and singing. They should have been in one of the conference areas or where weddings are hosted rather than disturbing the other guests who were talking quietly in front of the fireplace.
Good food but be prepared for a longer dinner especially when it is busy

we had gourmet tater tots with bacon and local Vermont cheese - definitely one of the tastiest appetizers EVER! will be craving them!
the menu is excellent mix of light items and full meals. local ingredients are a highlight! breadbox of superb assortment starts off the meal.
