The Market Place Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I am extremely fussy when it comes to restaurants and expect a good quality establishment like the Market Place to be excellent. We've eaten there once before and had a perfect evening.
This past Thursday, however, I was a bit disappointed. Traffic was bad and we were 15 minutes late for our reservation. I regret to say they gave away our table and offered us either the community table or a small bar table for our dinner.
We chose a bar table with a bar stool that was broken. I had to switch chairs myself, as well as go back to the hostess stand to get menus.
After they quickly served us an appetizer with a salad, we had to ask for silverware.
But, I have to say EVERYTHING we ordered was absolutely delicious! The salad was fresh with a delightful dressing and the entire meal was fantastic. Service was quick as well.
Even though I had some complaints, I highly recommend Market Place and will go back - this time arriving on time so I can enjoy their terrific food at a real table!
One of my favorites in Asheville. Oldest farm to table restaurant in town and still hitting it out of the park with flavors that meld and satisfy. The bison was terrific. Good wine list with some hidden jewels and value wines. Service was first rate. I'm going back next trip.
I am hoping this was a one off. I have been going to the Market Place for years (first really good "fine dining" restaurant in Asheville, and it remains one of the best farm to table like restaurants in town- I hope.
Appetizers (charcuterie board, tuna tartare and mushroom special) were delicious. Main course roasted Indian cauliflower just not good flavors (and I like both cauliflower and curry and Indian food in general); the roasted beet & goat cheese agnolotti very mediocre, and the hand cut pappardelle just okay.
Service was excellent.
Great food for reasonable price. My wife and I enjoyed the dinner. The muscle are to die for. Excellent service by Stephanie. The only little "complain" for us was the background music. Did not match the restaurant and guests...but the music was not our taste. However, we recommend this restaurants and will come back.
What a nice surprise! Our first time and plan to come back. The pumpkin soup, bison, quail were so delicious. Our server was great. I like the options of tapas and full size meals. As well I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Nothing but good things to say.
The Market Place Restaurant was outstanding. The food was creative, delicious, and artistically presented. The service was just right. I was impressed at how our table could have a nice conversation without talking loudly. This place gets high marks all around.
We arrived at 8:00 on Saturday night after watching the SEC Championship game for our 8:30 reservation... we were seated at an upstairs round table for 8 people at 8:15 ... we’ll done on the quick seating!
They were no negatives. Service, food and drink were all above standard and the value was good.
Would recommend highly!
We tried too many dishes to list in a review. Leonardo provided exceptional service and took cues from the table on the pace and plating. I always add pepper to enhance flavor and I can say I never even considered using pepper...not even sure if salt and pepper are offered at the table. My only negative comment was around the portion size for the tuna tar tar. It was close to half or a third of the size I would have expected for the price. Everyone got pleasantly stuffed, so please understand this was one out of 15 dishes. I look forward to our return to Asheville and The Market Place will definitely be one of our dinners. No question.
Jordan was an excellent waiter. He helped lead us to some astonishingly good choices from the menu. Don’t miss the lamb, it was truly exceptional. We recommended this establishment to everyone that asked where to eat a nice dinner.
Excellent! We were visiting Asheville from New Jersey and I chose this restaurant among many to sample the local farm-to-table fare. We were greeted warmly, our server was professional, lovely and informed. Our meals were INCREDIBLE and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. Overall, great experience and we would go there again if we happen to be in the area.
No bread served with meal. Had to buy for $4. Even then was ridiculously small amount, not enough for table.
Wanted to bring in birthday cake and told on the phone " we discourage that, but if you decide to bring it will cost an extra $4 per person to serve.
This was our third visit in as many years and our first disappointment. We were seated late despite a reservation made a few days in advance. For our party of 4, two had fish dishes which were both overcooked. Steaks were just adequate. Except for the fabulous bartender and his amazing old fashions we will probably not return for dinner.
We live locally and try to avoid hotel restaurants as they are pricey and not as good as Asheville's independent locales. This restaurant has always been good, and we can highly recommend it for Sunday brunch. The bloodies were as spicy as we requested, and the steak and eggs were perfectly prepared to order. Don't leave out the house made donut holes!
Delicious food, great drink selection, our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The staff was very helpful. We had a few of the small plates and they were all amazing. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant.
