The Market Place Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent! We were visiting Asheville from New Jersey and I chose this restaurant among many to sample the local farm-to-table fare. We were greeted warmly, our server was professional, lovely and informed. Our meals were INCREDIBLE and the price was reasonable for what we ordered. Overall, great experience and we would go there again if we happen to be in the area.
No bread served with meal. Had to buy for $4. Even then was ridiculously small amount, not enough for table.
Wanted to bring in birthday cake and told on the phone " we discourage that, but if you decide to bring it will cost an extra $4 per person to serve.
This was our third visit in as many years and our first disappointment. We were seated late despite a reservation made a few days in advance. For our party of 4, two had fish dishes which were both overcooked. Steaks were just adequate. Except for the fabulous bartender and his amazing old fashions we will probably not return for dinner.
We live locally and try to avoid hotel restaurants as they are pricey and not as good as Asheville's independent locales. This restaurant has always been good, and we can highly recommend it for Sunday brunch. The bloodies were as spicy as we requested, and the steak and eggs were perfectly prepared to order. Don't leave out the house made donut holes!
Delicious food, great drink selection, our server was very knowledgeable and attentive. The staff was very helpful. We had a few of the small plates and they were all amazing. I would definitely recommend and return to this restaurant.
Very accommodating to my severe dairy allergy. There were three of us dining and all had an amazing meal (trout, salmon, and pork entrees). The garden salad was not your ordinary salad! Delicious and beautiful presentation.
My wife & I had dinner there this past weekend. Excellent service, delicious food and great vibe. Very much enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend as a go-to place in Asheville for a nice dinner.
I have also been here in the past for a larger business dinner and was equally impressed.
The service was prompt and the server's recommendations for the entrees were spot on. The main course was completely our own choice and was the least favorable part of our experience, but that had more to do with our own judgement and tastes. The prices were a little steep but not atypical for downtown Asheville. When the quiet and tasteful ambiance and pleasant and prompt service are taken into account, it is money well spent.
Don't waste you time with a reservation if you are bringing a dog. Come to find out the tables outside are first come first serve. Would have been nice if someone would have let us know so we didn't waste our time. It was noted in the special request section.....not worth a hour wait!
Seated us near a party of eight inebriated young women who shrieked throughout brunch. My Bloody Mary was great. However, the poached eggs in the Benton were undercooked, with runny egg whites, and garnished with greasy greens. My husband's goat cheese omelet was very bland. Things seemed hit or miss, and we couldn't understand why the restaurant is so popular.
Enjoyed our small plates meal very much. Especially the scallops and grits were exceptional. Highly recommend the food and dining experience. But, my husband asked for a margarita and the waiter suggested something similar made with local juices. He enjoyed it so much he ordered another one. Much to our surprise they were $13 each. That's a bit more than we like to pay for a cocktail but it was outstanding. We would definitely return.
We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end! The ambiance was great, especially having a DJ supplying the music, which was completely unexpected. The menu was so good that it made it really hard to choose, the wine list was extensive, and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back again.
We were in town for a weekend and got a reservation on line. Whole process was seamless. Great waitress. Good choice of wines by the glass as well as by the bottle. These are not the wallet buster types of wine and the ones we had were true to varietal and priced reasonably. We all had different dishes(5 of us) and all were well done and tasty. Totally satisfied with the experience and would go back again.
