The Market Place Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Fabulous dinner with friends during restaurant week. Three course dinner was superb. Pear and blue cheese salad with shaved root vegetables was inventive and the contrasting flavors were fantastic. Sunburst farm trout was exquisitely prepared and served over smokey lentils. Wildflower honey creme brûlée was fabulous.
WE came with a group of 5 girls. Our waiter was excellent and the hostess even went out of her way to find a phone charger for us. Our food was delicious and delivered expeditiously. Would definitely return if I was in Asheville
This is a great place with both small plates normal dinner plates. Everything was delicious and fantastic. Service was impeccable and the food was absolutely great. This was our first time here and we are looking forward to returning!
This vist we had a large group of 8 people. The round table and moderate noise level allowed for everyone to effortlessly engage in group conversations. Our server was accommodating, friendly, and attentive. Everyone seemed to enjoy their various dishes ordered. My own meal of the Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese Angolloti was delicious! However, I have to comment on the odd plate presentation of my meal. The food was placed off to one far side of the plate instead of in the middle. So much negative space looked as though there was a key component of the meal missing.
Overall though a very enjoyable experience I would highly recommend to others.
The Market Place use to be one of my favorites in Asheville, but it seems to be slipping. You really have to stay on your game in a town with as many great restaurants as Asheville. We had the Quail and it was pretty boring. The Pork dish was better but I felt like I could have made it at home. Dessert menu was terrible. We went to another restaurant for dessert. The waiter was ok, he did his job. Overall it was ok which is not something I like to say about a restaurant I paid over 100 bucks for a meal.
The table was ready right on time but unfortunately we got there a bit early so we had to wait. Luckily there was plenty of room downstairs to wait by the bar. We were seated upstairs, which has its own bathroom. I️t took a bit of a delay for the waiter to get our drink orders but after that I️t was relatively prompt. Food was great. Would recommend.
I am very impressed with this restaurant, not only do they have sustainable practices, safe food, and locally sourced food, but it tastes great too! It is sometimes hard to get the whole package and The Market Place delivered. The dishes were plates beautifully and the flavor combinations were creative and worked well together. We truly had a great dinner.
We make a point to come to The Market Place every time we are in Asheville, and it never disappoints. The food and service are wonderful, and the live music is just the right volume that allows you to enjoy the music and dinner conversation at the same time. We are excited they are opening a restaurant in Charlotte!
We were there for New Years Eve. Unfortunately they had a lot of cancellations due to weather. However, the staff was more than accommodating at getting us in earlier. Everyone was upbeat and the service was great with perfect recommendations. We had a number of their small plates and the food was outstanding.
We were visiting Nashville and looking for a restaurant with in walking distance of the hotel. We called and were able to get a table. Our server was attentive but not over bearing. The ambiance was great. Our food was creative, delicious, and served hot. If we lived in Ashville, The Marketplace would be a favorite. I recommend this restaurant. One will not be disappointed.
We had traveled to Asheville for a long weekend to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were looking for a less hectic brunch option and none of us had ever been. The spot has a nice clean, modern feeling decor. I got the scallops, which are sort of their take on shrimp and grits, and they were delicious. I had a pickled mary, which was fine and probably one of the better old fashions that I have ever had. My partner had the steak and eggs, which was probably the only bummer of the experience. The steak could not have been more than 3 ounces. It would be worth paying a few dollars more for twices as much meat. Otherwise, it was a good experience and the server was very friendly and helpful. Would go again.
I am extremely fussy when it comes to restaurants and expect a good quality establishment like the Market Place to be excellent. We've eaten there once before and had a perfect evening.
This past Thursday, however, I was a bit disappointed. Traffic was bad and we were 15 minutes late for our reservation. I regret to say they gave away our table and offered us either the community table or a small bar table for our dinner.
We chose a bar table with a bar stool that was broken. I had to switch chairs myself, as well as go back to the hostess stand to get menus.
After they quickly served us an appetizer with a salad, we had to ask for silverware.
But, I have to say EVERYTHING we ordered was absolutely delicious! The salad was fresh with a delightful dressing and the entire meal was fantastic. Service was quick as well.
Even though I had some complaints, I highly recommend Market Place and will go back - this time arriving on time so I can enjoy their terrific food at a real table!
One of my favorites in Asheville. Oldest farm to table restaurant in town and still hitting it out of the park with flavors that meld and satisfy. The bison was terrific. Good wine list with some hidden jewels and value wines. Service was first rate. I'm going back next trip.
I am hoping this was a one off. I have been going to the Market Place for years (first really good "fine dining" restaurant in Asheville, and it remains one of the best farm to table like restaurants in town- I hope.
Appetizers (charcuterie board, tuna tartare and mushroom special) were delicious. Main course roasted Indian cauliflower just not good flavors (and I like both cauliflower and curry and Indian food in general); the roasted beet & goat cheese agnolotti very mediocre, and the hand cut pappardelle just okay.
Service was excellent.
Great food for reasonable price. My wife and I enjoyed the dinner. The muscle are to die for. Excellent service by Stephanie. The only little "complain" for us was the background music. Did not match the restaurant and guests...but the music was not our taste. However, we recommend this restaurants and will come back.
What a nice surprise! Our first time and plan to come back. The pumpkin soup, bison, quail were so delicious. Our server was great. I like the options of tapas and full size meals. As well I really liked the ambiance of the restaurant. Nothing but good things to say.
