Great food. Live music.
Service was excellent. Food was really good. My wife's lamb dish was really tasty but the sides had a little too much salt. Overall I would highly recommend and will return.
My wife and I had a very pleasant meal here before the Symphony. The evening was nice, and we enjoyed sitting outside. Two excellent specials: a wild rapini side dish, and a tempura fried soft shell crab, plus great fries, quail, and the raw tuna appetizer. Somewhat limited list of wines by the glass, in comparison with some AVL restaurants, but adequate.
Third time we have eaten here and it was just as good as the first two. It is a place that stays quietly in your mind, but that is excellent in all respects. The brunch menu was interesting and varied and reasonable in price. I need to come back here more often, and for more than the brunch. I also love, though, that the brunch is on Saturday as well as Sunday.
Birthday date night. Food was excellent! Definitely lived up to its reputation. Mixed cocktails were some of the worst we have ever had. Definitely going to order beer next time.
Everything was perfect. Food and service was on point and amazing. We both enjoyed every dish that came out!
Everything was excellent. The Market Place continues its tradition of being one of the best restaurants in Asheville.
Waiter was very nice and provided good service. The food was pretty good, but the setting was strange - cavernous, more like the space for a nightclub than a restaurant.
We had a wonderful meal from beginning to end. The Mac and cheese was fabulous for a split small plate. My husband had the duck special and I had the lamb. Both dishes were over-the-top good. We could not have asked for better food or service.
My girlfriend and I stopped here during our visit in Asheville. The food was great and the service was good but the price is high. I imagine the price is high because the quality of food was relatively greater than surrounding restaurants. However, the plating was phenomenal, which we enjoyed.
The room at The Marketplace was classy, but comfortable. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. The music was not way too loud - jazz and some traditional blues - we were able to converse easily (nice). There were small and large plates offered. We had a variety of small plates; each was delicious and unique, while at the same time being a bit familiar - i.e. french fries with truffle seasoning, pear and blue cheese salad with fruit infused vinegar, and balsamic infused pear bits as well as fresh pear. The clams were especially delicious - nothing out of the ordinary, just SUPER Perfect!
Excellent meal, everything very fresh. The waiter was very knowledgeable and so nice and friendly. Very nice live music the night we were there.
3rd trip ...nice restaurant, courteous staff, good service, delicious meal...would suggest that they consider furnishing some type of nice fresh baked bread with the meal...
Wonderful meal... wonderful staff
Brunch. Scallops. Grits. Biscuit. BLT. Delicious. I took a very satisfied nap afterwards.
Brunch, Easter Sunday. Menu was under whelming, food not much better. Lack of any creativity especially on a day like Easter where brunch is a staple. Wasted reservation, drinks over priced and adding things like a beet to a Bloody Mary does not justify their exorbitant over pricing. Too many other choices in Asheville to waste dining here again for brunch.
It was really wonderful experience! Beautiful atmosphere and the food was delicious and expertly plated.
Great food and service. Recommendations by Dalton were on point!
We had a wonderful experience at "The Marketplace." The food was of top quality, the staff were very personable and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and plan to frequent it in the future.
Great atmosphere and awesome menu! Definitely try he Mac and cheese.
Family dinner in Asheville. The food was not cheap but is what you would expect from a nice dinner. Since it was so good, thought it was worth it. We had two teenagers and my husband and me and everyone ate their entire dinner. Sometimes it is hard to please an entire family but this place delivered.
Visited on a Monday evening. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal. Great combinations of flavors on all the items ordered - salad, entree and desert. Very good service that was paced well. Definitely enjoyed and would not hesitate to come again and again.
I came with a group. Collectively, we shared a good portion of the menu. Every dish was delicious!
Great service and food. Highly recommend. Very accommodating.
A friend and I were visiting Asheville for several days. We read reviews on The Market Place and made reservations. We were not disappointed. The food was very good,
Currently my favorite restaurant in Asheville- the subtle details to each dish make this a great venue. Why can’t everyone cook like this?! Delicious
Superb. All compliments, no complaints.
Yum! Loved everything about this place!
Honestly, it just wasn't that flavorful. I'm not sure why its reviews were so high. There are some truly incredible restaurants in Asheville, and this falls squarely into the "good not great" category.
We went for brunch. Should have gone back to Tupelo honey
Stopped in for saturday brunch on our way out of town, yummy menu very seasonal. They also had a good brunch cocktail menu, a little pricey for the portion size but great food and drinks.
A very nice experience. We were seated on the mezzanine promptly when we arrived. We really appreciated the low noise level. It’s hard to find an Asheville restaurant with live music where you don’t feel like you’re yelling at your date. The musicians were perfect for a romantic dinner.
Our server was attentive, conversational, and knowledgeable. Very professional but suitably informal to match the setting.
I had the pear and blue cheese salad followed by a double order of scallops (4). My date had the mixed greens salad and PEI mussels. Glasses of Chardonnay paired nicely. Everything was cooked to perfection and artfully presented. We finished with the chocolate cake and coffee.
Market Place is now in our top 3 of the highly competitive Asheville market
Our experience was close to a perfect 10... everything about this dinner was great, the wine, mussels, entrees- quail, salmon, steak, and scallops... desserts were incredible, I would have liked an extra scoop of ice cream on my apple crisp dessert but everything was close to perfect. We went with our 2 boys who loved it too.
I love this restaurant & even chose it for a special anniversary celebration. I do wish they would change up the menu a little more often.
Excellent food, service, ambiance, drinks, and desserts! Fantastic experience !
It's funny how we get locked into a routine. It's been several years since we last visited the Market Place ... not because it wasn't good but because of our routine. Shame on us. We felt the Market Place should rise to the top of our dining list . Everything about the place was "top drawer". We will be returning soon again.
Very nice place
A little too much lights
Music was live
Everything from the food to the service to the cocktails was incredible! We loved every minute of it.
