Our experience was close to a perfect 10... everything about this dinner was great, the wine, mussels, entrees- quail, salmon, steak, and scallops... desserts were incredible, I would have liked an extra scoop of ice cream on my apple crisp dessert but everything was close to perfect. We went with our 2 boys who loved it too.
I love this restaurant & even chose it for a special anniversary celebration. I do wish they would change up the menu a little more often.
Excellent food, service, ambiance, drinks, and desserts! Fantastic experience !
It's funny how we get locked into a routine. It's been several years since we last visited the Market Place ... not because it wasn't good but because of our routine. Shame on us. We felt the Market Place should rise to the top of our dining list . Everything about the place was "top drawer". We will be returning soon again.
Everything from the food to the service to the cocktails was incredible! We loved every minute of it.
We ate here after receiving a recommendation from family members. We both loved it. I had a steak that was cooked to perfection and was the perfect size. It came with delicious fries and aoli. My husband had quail, I think served on a bed of greens, and he loved it. We had eaten a late lunch so that's all we had but it was very good!
Great atmosphere and the food was fabulous! Live music added to the atmosphere!
Experienced and friendly folks and outstanding food and drinks. We’ll stop in again and soon!!
It was fine, nothing special. We went for brunch, and honestly, fine is the best summary i can give. Nothing terrible, but nothing at all special about the food either, and in Asheville, you tend to expect to have at least one person's meal to wow you. The service was below par- empty coffees, water, etc. I will say the live music they had was spot-on, perfect ambiance, not too loud. I wouldn't say don't go here, I'd just say there are so many better choices to take advantage of.
Best restaurant in Asheville! It will be my new go to restaurant when in the area and I suggest everyone try the Market Place!
Brunch was good. A bit overpriced for quality of food. Tailored more towards a dinner setting. Would go back.
Our dinner was perfect from start to finish! The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite! Really, who ever heard of wrapping a salad in a cucumber!? I got to try this. The service was also impeccable. They had live music which we enjoyed very much. Definitely a go back Restaurant!
Great visit for our anniversary! Strip loin steak was absolutely incredible and our waiter was excellent.
We were on a daytrip from South Carolina and went to Market Place for dinner. Everything was wonderful! The bartender was friendly and we enjoyed 2 beers, one was a special $3 draft, and both good. Our servers were friendly and prompt and helpful. One even wrote down the ingredients for the olive oil I was curious about. Our dinner was fabulous, we had 2 small plates: the mussels, and scallops and pasta large plate. Also shared an apple crisp for dessert.
Great place, food and service.
The food and service was absolutely perfect. We will be back anytime we are in Asheville. We had several small plates and several entrees between our group and nothing disappointed.
We just wanted a good meal. We split 3 apps and an entree. It was perfect. We had a great waiter.
Extraordinary..friends we were with live in the area and have eaten at many Asheville establishments but this was their first time and they were blown away by the food. And it was so very quiet..you could actually carry on a conversation without yelling. Music was good, service exceptional..will certainly go back here again.
I have enjoyed a few meals here and have enjoyed the meals. The wine list is also excellent. It is usually quieter upstairs.
Exactly what farm to table food is supposed to be. Perfectly executed dishes that are authentic and creative, yet unpretentious. Local farms and farmers utilized by the restaurant are listed throughout space, and the staff are extremely knowledgeable and can tell you about each one. The cocktails are inventive and well thought out, and the wine list is a perfect match for the cuisine. Lighter, acid driven wines that pair perfectly with food and very reasonably priced. You can't go wrong with the house made charcuterie and local cheeses, and the goat cheese and beet agnolotti may be the perfect pasta dish. There is no better place to eat in Asheville, and the value is out of this world.
Food was awesome! Loved the scallops and brisket. Good drinks, dinner music and great atmosphere.
Lunch with 3 girlfriends. Lovely, all around.
Really good food presented well
Our waiter was very pleasant and attentive and the food was delicious although a little heavier than expected.
Great food and ambience
Exceptional server! He knew the wine pairing very well. And he was very attentive. We were the last table of the night and they did not rush us out of the restaurant. Definitely plan to return when we are in Asheville.
Excellent food and service. I would recommend it to people who like innovative food and preparations, but not necessarily for the meat and potatoes only guy! It was an excellent meal and reasonably priced for an upscale Asheville restaurant.
Delicious food and great service. The cocktails were unique and so very tasty. (I recommend the Bentons Old Fashion.) You will not be disappointed.
Service was timely orchestrated, food was mediocre, wine was delicious and Wednesday 1/2 off glasses was most fitting. Quiet setting for conversing. May choose more ethnic type menue choices in the future.
One of our favorite restaurants in Asheville. Always a pleasant experience. The steak is the best I’ve had in Asheville. We always enjoy our visits to Market Place.
The food was wonderful! We saw a ton of reviews on the Mac and cheese app so we had to get it and OH MY GOODNESS it was wonderful! Highly recommend!
We came with our friends to The Market Place for dinner before the Symphony and enjoyed our meal very much. Each dish was beautiful and delicious. The decor is restful. Our server was pleasant and accommodating. Very nice overal.
This was our first stop in Asheville for a birthday celebration. The atmosphere was so cozy with the live band playing in the background. And the food was excellent! We even came back on Sunday for a pre-brunch drink and if we hadn't already had a reservation elsewhere we would have had their brunch too! I can't wait to come back!
Another excellent meal at Market Place. We live in downtown Asheville and have found Market Place to be consistently excellent. We usually sit at the bar and have small plates. The service is always friendly and accommodating. This particular time we sat in the dining area with a friend. Again, a wonderful meal was enjoyed by all.
Service was excellent. Steaks were delicious. We had a person in our party with a fish allergy and they specially made her food to keep it away from any kinds of fish. I was very impressed by that.
I had 2 of the 'small dishes'. The pear & cheese salad was not very good at all. The scallops were good, though salty, and only two ( I understand it was a small dish, but since the salad wasn't good, I didn't get much to eat).
We've been in Asheville for 3 years now and somehow missed this gem. The food was delicious, the service was wonderful, and the ambiance is enchanting. There is a very nice bar downstairs. On the night we visited, there was a wonderful singer and banjo player.
It was fine, not great or notable in any way.
We started with a charcuterie board which was very good. The trout and lamb entree's were creative and worthy of 5 stars. Very good wine list. The staff was informed, engaged and attentive. There was a trio providing live music the evening we were there. We have eaten at nearly all the top rated AVL restaurants and this one is worthy of being on those lists. Definately a place to return to and for those staying downtown as we were, easily walkable from the downtown hotels.
Exceptional service and food quality
