The Market Place Restaurant
One of our go to places when we have company in town. Quality food, reasonably priced. We can have conversation and still have that AVL vibe but with an adult twist.
ve market place for brunch or dinner. i often gop laces for brunch because the food is great and it fits my budget better. great food her and a good selection of adult beverages. mornings the sun pours in the windows at the back of the dining room and makes you feel like you are outside. they have nice outdoor space weather permitting. this is a fabulous place for any occasions. it is quiet which is a rarity with restaurants in this town. services great and they take reservation. a plus here since every season is. tourist season. and it is common to have to wait in line 30 minutes to an hour to get inside a popular place. maggie. Food is always innovative and flavorful service is outstanding
Brunch with the hubby. This place was amazing.
The food was good, not amazing. The cocktails (especially the gin and tonic) were great. Server was not pleasant OR unpleasant. It was fine overall, but I felt like, for the prices, the entrees should have been better seasoned and less greasy (particularly the quail and the lamb pasta). The steak was fabulous. The scallops were a little gritty. The shrimp ravioli special was flavorful, but the pasta was very thick.
Really neat restaurant and great food! We were celebrating our anniversary and had hoped to have quiet romantic setting, but were seated next to 2 large parties that were very boisterous😏 Guess that’s just bad timing. It would have been nice if staff had acknowledged our anniversary with a special little “something”...a glass of champagne with chocolate and/or strawberry would have been a really neat gesture. Just a suggestion for future😊 The salmon was amazing and we experienced our first charcuterie board which was very unique and yummy. We were happy with our evening!
Delicious farm fresh food. We had the pork shoulder and braised lamb with pasta dinners. Both were perfect portions and tasted great. Highly recommend to all.
We celebrated my sister's birthday here. The food was fabulous -- there was a special appetizer -- roasted Hen of the Woods mushrooms that was superior! Everything else was very good as well. Our waiter was attentive. I was a bit surprised that although I indicated this was a special occasion when I made the reservation on OpenTable, no one acknowledged that with even a mention.
Unbelievable food quality. Great Value for brunch
The service could use a little work, other than that I love this restaurant!
Gumbo Sunday brunch special was amazing. The sauce was perfectly browned and had deep flavors of traditional gumbo. Poached egg cooked to perfect temp placed on top of gumbo. Service was very attentive as always! Best brunch food and service in town!
The quail was incredible. So flavorful and filling. The steak dish was not good. Too tough and chewy and the squash was undercooked. Definitely try again but not the steak.
Had a fantastic Birthday dinner with my wife. Everything was spectacular. Food, service, the band all were excellent! We will definitely be back!
Unfortunately the food was not even room temperature. Too cold for our liking
Not as described and no flexibility.
Manager did step in but just not thrilled
Great restaurant! The food was wonderful, service was perfect. Elenor Underhill player and it was perfect.
Friends and family visiting from out of state. A wonderful time was had by all.
We had a great time celebrating my husband’s birthday. The food was good and our server was very knowledgeable on their wine selection.
Food was good, but very small portions. Service was outstanding. Everything is farm to table. The bar has a great selection. Interesting taste pairings.
Incredible experience from start to finish! I will be back the next time I visit Asheville.
The quality and selection of the food was excellent. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful, and very nice. They had a 3 piece band playing, so the noise level was a little high, but it added rather than detracted from the experience. It was our first time visiting the Market Place, but will not be our last.
Good food (excellent lobster mushroom appetizer), service was very courteous and efficient. Nice place for a special dinner.
I love the food and the drinks. My friends love the food and the wine collection. Happy all around.
We’re all local so return periodically. Yum.
Had a great customer appreciation dinner while in Asheville this past week. Phenomenal service, great food and perfect location.
Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and very friendly! Our appetizers (truffle fries, mussels and fried shrimp) were amazing. The seared scallops, snapper and tortellini were the entrees ordered at the table and they were absolutely outstanding! Will definitely be on the list to do eat at when we visit Asheville.
The food was good but the portions vary. Overall a good spot to stop for dinner in Asheville.
Fantastic all around!!
Great place to celebrate a birthday. All five of us loved our meals!
The lamb papardelle was fantastic! My wife ordered risotto but neither of us knew what peri peri was, so she was surprised that it was spicy hot. She doesn’t do spicy so had to send back.
Food was good, but not outstanding. Service was not great - very slow and not attentive. We heard, from someone who lived in Asheville a few years ago, that it was amazing. It was just okay to good food (some dishes we ordered better than others) for a bill that was on the level of what you’d expect to pay for outstanding food.
We reserved a high top and we got there a little early. I couldn’t really understand what the hostess said regarding our table...she pointed at the high tops in the bar which were so small we wouldn’t be able to eat at them and she said we could sit at the bar where the space for eating was much larger...of course we opted for the bar. I ordered a couple small plates, the octopus and the shrimp. Both were very good. My daughter ordered the papperdelle which was a large portion so we ended up taking some back to our hotel. The food was delicious. If I was to return to Asheville I would return but would not reserve a high top.unless they have larger high tops in the dining room.
Excellent farm to table fare. Pork shoulder and mushrooms au gratin were especially good. Service a bit slow
The restaurant was quiet and our waiter was very attentive, however the food was subpar. Would not recommend. We were disappointed.
Excellent farm to table food, prepared with high quality ingredients and a creative flair. We were a large party and our server was attentive and fun. Would recommend and return. There was some mix-up with the salads or would give five stars.
The Chicken of the Woods special we got was outstanding! Our server was also awesome.
Scallops were great!! I have had better pappardelle, despite the great ingredients list.
We had fantastic food and incredible service. My wife had the Lamb Pappardelle and I had the Pork Shoulder. Both were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The appetizer was one of the best I have ever had with Chicken of the Woods Mushrooms. Our waiter, Dalton, was exceptional. One of the best we have ever had. This restaurant is one of the best and one that is not to be missed.
Food was very good. Vince, our server, worked hard. Extensive wine list. Pork shoulder was very, very nice and the quail was meant for eating with your fingers.
Appetizer of NC shrimp or pumpkin soup are excellent.
And the jazz trio added to the overall experience of being in Asheville.
We eat here often and never disappointed.
Sat outside and had great service despite some very large parties. Food was truly outstanding. Live music was nice. Had chicken of the woods for the first time, a mushroom dish that, you guessed it, tasted just like chicken. It’s a relative of the better known hen of the woods. Both are free range, of course. The octopus was sublime and the snapper was excellent.
Fabulous meal and evening with some dear friends. Cassie, our server, was wonderful. Mushroom appetizer, scallops and pork dinners were scrumptious. So delighted we discovered this Asheville restaurant!
