The Market Place Restaurant
Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and very friendly! Our appetizers (truffle fries, mussels and fried shrimp) were amazing. The seared scallops, snapper and tortellini were the entrees ordered at the table and they were absolutely outstanding! Will definitely be on the list to do eat at when we visit Asheville.
The food was good but the portions vary. Overall a good spot to stop for dinner in Asheville.
Fantastic all around!!
Great place to celebrate a birthday. All five of us loved our meals!
The lamb papardelle was fantastic! My wife ordered risotto but neither of us knew what peri peri was, so she was surprised that it was spicy hot. She doesn’t do spicy so had to send back.
Food was good, but not outstanding. Service was not great - very slow and not attentive. We heard, from someone who lived in Asheville a few years ago, that it was amazing. It was just okay to good food (some dishes we ordered better than others) for a bill that was on the level of what you’d expect to pay for outstanding food.
We reserved a high top and we got there a little early. I couldn’t really understand what the hostess said regarding our table...she pointed at the high tops in the bar which were so small we wouldn’t be able to eat at them and she said we could sit at the bar where the space for eating was much larger...of course we opted for the bar. I ordered a couple small plates, the octopus and the shrimp. Both were very good. My daughter ordered the papperdelle which was a large portion so we ended up taking some back to our hotel. The food was delicious. If I was to return to Asheville I would return but would not reserve a high top.unless they have larger high tops in the dining room.
Excellent farm to table fare. Pork shoulder and mushrooms au gratin were especially good. Service a bit slow
The restaurant was quiet and our waiter was very attentive, however the food was subpar. Would not recommend. We were disappointed.
Excellent farm to table food, prepared with high quality ingredients and a creative flair. We were a large party and our server was attentive and fun. Would recommend and return. There was some mix-up with the salads or would give five stars.
The Chicken of the Woods special we got was outstanding! Our server was also awesome.
Scallops were great!! I have had better pappardelle, despite the great ingredients list.
We had fantastic food and incredible service. My wife had the Lamb Pappardelle and I had the Pork Shoulder. Both were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The appetizer was one of the best I have ever had with Chicken of the Woods Mushrooms. Our waiter, Dalton, was exceptional. One of the best we have ever had. This restaurant is one of the best and one that is not to be missed.
Food was very good. Vince, our server, worked hard. Extensive wine list. Pork shoulder was very, very nice and the quail was meant for eating with your fingers.
Appetizer of NC shrimp or pumpkin soup are excellent.
And the jazz trio added to the overall experience of being in Asheville.
We eat here often and never disappointed.
Sat outside and had great service despite some very large parties. Food was truly outstanding. Live music was nice. Had chicken of the woods for the first time, a mushroom dish that, you guessed it, tasted just like chicken. It’s a relative of the better known hen of the woods. Both are free range, of course. The octopus was sublime and the snapper was excellent.
Fabulous meal and evening with some dear friends. Cassie, our server, was wonderful. Mushroom appetizer, scallops and pork dinners were scrumptious. So delighted we discovered this Asheville restaurant!
Food was great. The staff were not very friendly. The manager and staff seemed preoccupied with other guests.
We were taking a long weekend visit to Asheville, our first. I think this is one of the best meals I have had since dining at Husk in Charleston a couple of years ago.
Heirloom salad was delicious.....
Everything was incredible. The food was really amazing and we were pleasantly surprised by the bacon infused old fashioned.
Never had a bad experience at the Market Place. Great, creative food and friendly, professional staff.
The food was great, we had the grilled octopus and fried shrimp appetizers, and a few glasses of wine. But as soon as we said we weren’t ordering entrees, our waiter basically rushed us out of there. It was a Monday night and pretty empty so it’s not like he needed to turn over the table that quickly. We were there maybe 50 minutes tops and felt rushed to leave the entire time. We would have ordered more drinks but we honestly didn’t feel welcome to stay longer. Spend your money elsewhere in Asheville!
We went for Sunday brunch and loved it! We ended up sitting in front of the restaurant on the patio because the inside was freezing cold. Their music was a little strange so that threw off the vibe for us. But the server was great and the food was AMAZING! Highly recommend for brunch.
The service was great. The staff was attentive and very friendly. . The space felt cozy and private. I loved the small plate options which the 4 of us shared. The cocktails were unique - loved the Monte Mule and the Peach margarita. Our table was ready at our reserved time. I will definitely go back when I visit again and highly recommend the Market Place.
We ordered a bottle of wine which took some time for them to find it but otherwise the place is real nice inside and the food was good. We had 8:30 reservations since this was the only time available and ended up being the last table in the place by 10:00. If we went again we would get an earlier reservations or go someplace else.
I had the mahi and it was prepared just right and with the grilled okra, had a unique flavor. Wife liked her quail. Others in our party enjoyed the snapper and scallops. The brownie with cinnamon ice cream was delicious. Beer selections were great - the Oktoberfest beer on draught tasted great. Our server was attentive and honest with her suggestions, which ended up being excellent. Noise level was comfortable until the end when a couple of bachelorette parties started getting a little loud.
Varied, creative menu that is wonderfully prepared. My salmon with bourbon glaze was perfect medium rare and delicious. Crispy Brussels sprouts were excellent. The fish tacos were packed with tasty cod and loads of yummy dressing. Our waiter, Matt, was absolutely terrific. By the way, this is an old jail with old brick walls and lots of charm! Great bar, as well.
Delicious food. Great service. We went for brunch and we were not dissapointed. We will be back!
Everyone was so nice to us and the food was perfect.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday with friends and it was one of the most underwhelming evenings we have experienced all year.
Excellent food, very fresh, prepared well with great flavors. Beautiful decor with live music not too loud. I would definitely recommend this place for foodies and anyone looking for a great meal.
Always enjoy Market Place. Great menu selections, wine list, service. Made server aware of my dietary restrictions, Chef created an entree for me.
Excellent, great menu & service, highly recommend. Nice wine selection
Met up with friends at the Marketplace.
We were quite early for our reservation but we were seated right away. Great food - wonderful octopus. Salads were well-received. Great beer and wine selections.
This is a fabulous place for dinner. It was clearly the best meal we had in Asheville during our three day visit. There we options on the menu for anyone.
Drinks, salad and entrees were exceptional!
Over the top experience!
Their were for people in our party and each of us thoroughly enjoyed our food and the overall experience. From appetizers that could have been main dishes to very flavorful dishes to great service, The Market Place is exceptional.
39th Anniversary - brought a friend with us. Excellent service from waiter and supporting staff.
