The meal was excellent my girlfriend and I really enjoyed our time there. It wasn’t cheap but we knew that going in and it was really excellent food. So I wasn’t too bothered. Highly recommended from me.
Don't order the risotto. Drinks were good. Attentive server. Other food items were very good. Went elsewhere for dessert.
Everthing about this experience was great and we live in Asheville!
Had several small plates, sat outside which was great. Not overly crowded on an early Sat eve which was nice. Server was attentive, good conversation and suggestions.
Food was fresh, good flavors, not a fussy presentation—just good food and drinks. No complaints. Enjoyed the casual atmosphere. Would return!
Beyond disappointing. Flavorless food and lazy plating. The pappardelle was lasagna noodles with the ruffles cut off and cut in half with a strange mouth feel. The "strip steak" was a cheap cut of meat with no seasoning, and the advertised toppings were non-existent. The server seemed bothered by our presence. Just don't go.
The parpadelle was delicious, great melding of flavors. The roasted chicken with carrots and turnips were just as good as the parpadelle. Will definitely return on next trip to Asheville.
Terrific drinks and food.. great presentation and outstanding flavors!
Pork shoulder was out of this world Service first-rate. Rather drab decor.
Food was excellent. Waitress was very good and attentive. Enjoyed the experience. Wish we could have eaten outside.
Small portions but fairly priced. Delicious. Good service.
I felt like I was in Europe. We sat outside, great food, good music, I would go back.
The best and largest PEI mussels our table had ever enjoyed. Other items were very good, although the strip steak had a lot of fat on it.
Food is farm to table, local, and unique choices. Wait staff courteous, knowledgeable, and very helpful. It's a challenge finding close parking, but the Wall Street parking garage isn't far from the restaurant. Definitely worth a visit!
My husband and I had a delicious meal here on Mother’s Day evening 2021. The Wood Grilled Joyce Farms Chicken was especially delicious. The chef elevated an ordinary chicken breast to a new level. We ordered several dishes, all of which were interestingly presented and perfectly prepared.
The front of the restaurant is deceiving because you walk into a bar area, but beyond the bar is a lovely restaurant area with soothing colors and windows. The servers were attentive and gracious. We will definitely look forward to a return visit.
Pretty amazing experiencing. Food and service (Katrina) magnificent. One of my favorite places.
We felt cared for and the meal was an excellent Mother's Day meal. The seating was relaxing while outside even while an occasional gust of wind came along. I'd easily go again.
Mother's Day Brunch was fantastic; food and service were exceptional.
Great service with Cleo! Had a great time celebrating a friend’s birthday!
Graduation from college
We visited The Market Place for dinner on a Saturday evening. Even though it was fairly busy it was still very quiet. The bar menu was great - plenty of options to suit a variety of tastes without being overwhelming. We ordered the charcuterie plate and the pickle trio, all of which was amazing. Our only regret was not also ordering the cheese plate. I had the scallops and they were quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. My wife had the rabbit tortellini and it was also amazing. We loved that the portion sizes were just right - we were able to enjoy every bite without feeling stuffed by the end. The service was also just right - perfect balance of checking in at the right times without seeming to hover over the table. Will definitely plan on returning on a future trip to AVL.
The mussels and scallops and trout were terrific! Thank you!

Exceptional service by John
He anticipated everything perfectly.
Great evening. Could not have been better
Dalton is an excellent server. Friendly, knowledgeable, & attentive. I had the scallops with grits, which were delicious. Scallops were perfectly cooked & grits were creamy with crispy strips of Benton’s bacon &a hint of jalapeño. My friend had the eggs Benedict over house made cornbread, which she loved. We started with pickle juice bloody Mary’s...yum. We both had the strawberry rhubarb pie with basil vanilla ice cream...heavenly! I have eaten here several times and am always very impressed!
Steak overpriced for the quality, 3 scallops at over $30 not a great value. Called the restaurant for a late dinner resy and they said they could not accommodate us, yet I was able to book a table on open table no problem. Strange experience almost like they didn’t want to stay open for us. Nice atmosphere but not super welcoming.
Delicious dinner! Love the farm to table menu!
Tried a bite of just about everything. Incredibly fresh and delicious. Apps to get are the cheese board and the truffle fries. The service was great and would recommend this place to anyone!
We enjoyed pea tendrils fritters. The Southern version of Surf & Turf (sea scallops and braised pork belly) with fab veggies was excellent. Rabbit was unexpectedly light with delicious broth. Great experience. Only down side was companion’s entree arrived as trout instead of the rabbit ordered so she ate after me but all in all a very enjoyable meal. Definitely recommend it. Interesting craft cocktails too.
Mussel appetizer was delicious, but one entree was inedible (recommended lamb) and other entree just didn't make any sense. Tortellini served in a bowl of sauce. Not served with spoon to consume and not a sauce you would want that way. Won't be going back.
The Market Place is consistently excellent, and one our favorites in Asheville.
Party of 3 older women was treated respectfully and served perfectly. The mussels appetizer was superb. We each had very different entrees and each was dazzling to the eye and tastebuds. Best of Asheville for food and service. Safe distancing too.
A fun evening. Good food, great service. Will definitely return.
A favorite of years past, The Market Place fell from my list only due to new explorations. It returned to mind only because every other choice was fully booked. I couldn't be happier that it did.
We were looking for a chance for a casual, unhurried chat with friends after COVID separations and were hoping that the food was as good as remembered. It was. While I wouldn't give the Market Place high marks for innovation, I do for quality and good service. Service was attentive but unpressured, responsive without being intrusive.
Probably didn't need that second bottle of wine nor the added calories in the excellent dessert, but it all went down with great pleasure. Certainly will go again soon.
We have eaten there several times and never been disappointed.
The food and the service were awesome! I also appreciated how they were COVID safe. Each employee had a mask over their nose AND mouth.
I wanted a dinner with “clean” food - locally sourced, and health forward, where I could leave satisfied but not “stuffed”. Also wanted good, quiet ambiance. The Market Place delivered on all counts. Service was really great. The rabbit tortellini was superb. My only “food for thought” would be that we were never offered dessert (the check was brought before we could ask, or before it was offered), and the ramps I ordered as a side dish were really tasteless, unfortunately. Other than that, everything was amazing! Will def be back.
The food is of the highest quality that we have had anywhere in the country, with unparalleled creative flavor combinations!
Great food and great service! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Very underwhelming for such a highly rated restaurant. Service was patchy, food portions small, flavor lacking.
Food was ok. I had the Lamb pasta which was ok. But not great. Service was good. The high tops were crammed against the wall. So not very much room for 2 for dinner. I’d go back after trying the many other restaurants.
