The Market Place Restaurant
It was wonderful! Loved Dalton & Bob the guitarist. Food was wonderful & beautiful!
There was live music playing, which was pleasant, but loud. The patio was our choice for a lovely place to sit on a nice night.
Exceptional cooking backed up with great service. My wife had a strawberry glazed pork shoulder and I had pan roasted scallops with faro jalapeño smoked cheddar grits. Pretty much as good as food gets anywhere, particularly in the Blue Mountain Ridge area of the South.
Excellent service and great food! We will be back.
Portions were tiny for the price. However the food was tasty. Drinks sat empty for a while before being refilled.
Market Place was once the premier restaurant in Asheville but it become second place. Menu limited unless you are a big meat eater and does not feature gluten free items.
We were fortunate to find this wonderful farm to table restaurant in downtown Asheville on a recent visit. We have some picky eaters and food restrictions (allergies and such) and were pleasantly surprised to find a wonderful restaurant. This is on the list to find again when we return to Asheville!
I called previously to discuss issues with the waiter who acted like he had never waited on vegan customers before and hoped that he never did again.
My wife had mussels and was very ill that night and next day. I had six of them and was also sickened somewhat the next day.
Live music (keyboard) during dinner was a welcome touch. Outstanding service - just the right amount of attention. Food was good. Of three dishes, we were all happy with our choices but agreed only one meal was very good (mushroom ravioli); the snapper in the fish offering was also very good. Tried the pea fritters - interesting, but not much flavor. Brownie dessert was very good and sinful - thankfully we shared it.
Food was excellent, the service was great. Our server did a great job knowing the menu and making suggestions.
Brought in foraged ingredients (See No Taste Like Home's site) and they made an amazing appetizer with our "weeds". Very good meals
Lovely evening! Jantzen was our server and she had a wonderful grasp of the menu and steered us down a delightful path! We had a wonderful dinner and birthday celebration!
It is a little pricey and a limited menu but you at least pay for what you get! The service was amazing and so was the food they did offer! We had a waiter but there were at least 3 other different waiters/waitresses helping out keeping our water filled and needs met at all time!
We took our children and their partners out for dinner here. Everything was delicious and the meal was paced very well. Would go back again.
Great food, great wine, great service, amazing music (go see Lenny on piano every Wednesday night), all in the heart of Asheville. Lots of options and they'll cater to special diet if you're vegetarian, etc.
First time at this restaurant and Stephanie did a wonderful job explaining the menu as well as the specialty drinks. The food was excellent both the small plates that we ordered as well as the main entrées. We will return the next time we come through Asheville!
Nice place in Asheville. Food and service was great. Would definitely recommend.
Thought the menu would be more farm to table, it was a very boring menu without fresh, local selections.
Thought the whole restaurant could use updating.
Our service was very good, but am sorry we wasted one night of our 2 in Ashville on this restaurant.
The food was inspired. I had scallops with jalapeño grits, sweet pepper coulis, garnished with bacon strips. Don't usually do pork, but it added to the dish. My husband had a old fashion ,bacon infused bourbon, maple syrup. Fantastic, not sweet, just right. He had lamb and oyster mushrooms with pasta with arugula. Pea fritters to start with a spring aioli. Really yummy! Janzen, our waitress was great too!
The food here is excellent. Servers know the menu, and thoroughly explain it. We always save Market Place for special occasions because it is an exceptional dining experience.
I had to go buy food after I left this restaurant. It was just not enough food for an entree. I understand that higher quality food is more expensive but it could have come with some sides to help you feed you. I was starving afterwards. Also our waiter didn't really speak to us at all. It was mother's day and I was there with my family and he didn't even say Happy Mother's Day. He didn't interact with us at all, so I would say the service was bad.
The food and service were excellent. We were running late for our reservation and called to let them know. The Market Place was were very accommodating and seated us right away even though we were 30 minutes late.
Always dependable for great service, quiet/unhurried ambiance and very good food.
We had an early seating for a Mother’s Day treat, service and food were excellent as usual. The snapper was amazing
We had a delicious meal and enjoyed our appetizer from No Taste Like Home Foraging Tour
The food, the service and the ambience was great. We choose this place because we could get reservations at the time we needed. It wasn’t our first choice but we were very happy with our experience. It was not too loud so we could hear our conversations without yelling. We will certainly go back again.
Great restaurant in the downtown Asheville area. My wife and I went on a Friday night and found it to be a wonderful little place that wasn’t too busy, great live music and the ambience was fantastic! Noise level was perfect! The service was great and the food and wine even better! Definitely a place we will visit again!
From the very beginning this was a great experience. We were seated at a table with a great view. Our wait staff was friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and beverage offerings and made great suggestions. And the food! The cheese board was fantastic to look at and eat. The raspberry goat cheese spread was fresh and tasty and very seasonal. I also recommend the house made pimento cheese. I had the snapper wig Rios vegetables and polenta and it was perfection. I will be back!
Quality food and great flavors.
Nice ambiance, hostess took us immediately to nice table with window view on main level. Our server Stephanie took care of us extremely well with cogent recommendations for entrees and draft beer selections. Our little group of 4 had fantastic unique meals (rabbit, lamb, pork tenderloins, etc.) and our overall experience was a nice ending to our Asheville trip.
The ambiance was romantic inside and had a beautiful outside seating area. I would definitely recommend the Pea Fritters. They were so delicious. The plate presentations were as delightful as every bite I put in my mouth. The Quail was plated spectacularly and the taste was succulent. Thank you The Market Place. I look forward to visiting again and trying your other menu items.
Freshly prepared food. I had the snapper which was amazing. Great ambiance and service. One of the best meals I've had to date in Asheville.
Wonderful place, came here 2 years ago and decided to return, as it was delicious then as we were very happy again. Octopus and rabbit cavatelli , pork shoulder so tasty. Wine list impressive and well priced. Traveling from NY, this place can match up to any restaurant by us. A must if you’re in town🌞
We had a wonderful meal. Everything was spectacular
From the mussekoto the carrot and ginger soup to the quail stuffed with bread and chorizo
Great first visit!
We will certainly return with a smaller party (our group had 10 guys). Because of the noisy nature of our seating, we did not FULLY appreciate the creativity of the dishes. The wait staff did their best to get the message out on each dish, but we just inhaled and loved it.
Great restaurant but it was my 60th birthday and not even once did the waiter say Happy Birthday or congratulations. I asked the maître d’ did you inform our waiter it was my 60th birthday....she said I think so. Really!
Live music was too loud but everything else was good. A little pricy for brunch.
Enjoyed Easter Brunch there very much. Our server Vince was really great and accommodating, the food was spot on, make sure you try the Jalapeno Biscuit. Location is awesome as well right on Wall Street, so plenty of places to walk around after. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.
We greatly enjoyed our meal at The Market Place! The mushroom ravioli was perfect, and we each enjoyed the dessert cocktails. The live music was a plus.
