The food, as typical was very good, although the frites were unsalted and somewhat flavorless. I was very surprised that for a Sunday brunch, I could not get a cup of decaf coffee. Also, beignets were on the menu as a starter, yet when we ordered them we were first told they were not available, then told we could have them as a dessert if we still wanted them. There was some confusion over how to split the cost of the beignets with our dining partners.
We had a wonderful evening at Jennifer's Market. Everything went well from the time we walked in to the time we left. Attention to detail, great food , service in a pleasant atmosphere was great. The food tops...great gourmet from the beginning to end. My rack of lamb on a bed of scalloped potatoes was fabulous. We had a wonderful evening and they honored our friend's birthday with a complimentary dessert. I am glad we live in the neighborhood and can not wait to return.
Went for restaurant week - they were not offering the other entree items but didn’t know that.
Bread pudding had zero taste.
The margarita on the rocks was the best thing I had for dinner.
Overall it was not a wonderful experience. We were there for restaurant week but they were also having a wine dinner. It's a very small space and the wine presenter must have thought he had the entire room because he was very loud. Our table of two got lost in the wine dinner priority -- basically our server forgot about us. The food was warm at best and I had the gnocchi and it should have been called 'the mushrooms' far more mushrooms than gnocchi. I would not recommend this restaurant.
We really wanted to like this restaurant more. The menu items all looked great but flavors all came up short.
It's a cool little spot. I'd consider coming back with the thought we just caught them on an off-night.
Interesting that there was a group of six people and me and my husband on a Saturday night. The server was very attentive. The bolognese was very good. The group of six was a little loud, but that's because there is literally no ceiling, just air conditioning vents. Nothing to muffle any noise.
We visited The Market during restaurant week and found the atmosphere to be relaxed and friendly. Both of us were impressed by our appetizers, the sliced beef and asparagus salad. Our main courses were the rack of lamb and the seafood gnocchis. Both were excellent. We plan to return.
I made a Mother’s Day reservation weeks in advance. I arrived right on time for my noon reservation with my mom and grandmother, with flowers and gifts in tow. We wound up waiting over 30 minutes just to be seated in 90 degree heat. It just really put a damper on the experience for me and the Mother’s we were celebrating. I was particularly upset that they didn’t offer us waters while we waited, or any complimentary item for the inconvenience of being seated 30+ minutes late despite having a reservation.
Nonetheless, the food was excellent. But unfortunately, that didn’t make up for the service, so I will not be back.
Had a wonderful Mother's day brunch. Even though it was a packed house, the food quality was superb. Service was still attentive considering the crowd. Really liked the Mother's day brunch specialties!
My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday on a Saturday morning here. They were very accommodating when we arrived and offered us 2 choices of tables for 8. Although I didn't eat brunch, I did sample one of the two generous and complimentary strawberry shortcakes they gave us. The prices were reasonable, food good and service excellent. Loved the decor and large mugs of coffee. Delightful!
The food was food. The ambiance was lacking. There was only one other table filled in the restaurant. It was a Saturday night. The place should be packed. The food is phenomenal.
You cannot beat the food at Jennifer's. We enjoyed dinner on the first night of their new Spring menu! Perfect and delicious!
Went the other night for dinner. As one would expect for a small eat in place( they do a large catering business) the menu is small. My wife had salmon and i had a chicken kabob. Both were very good but not a wow. We went on a coupon . Would i go again yes but thete are so many great rsturants in the phoenix area so at full price probably not .
Food was great service was a delight. Restaurant washad an interesting decor. again food was exceptional will definitely go back
Met for Saturday brunch. Enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Our server was polite & had a great attitude. We had $15 bottles of champs & the food was great: charcuterie, sandwich special of the day & pasta carbonara. Delicious & large portions. We will be back - great hidden gem.
Very disappointed, we were anxious to try the Market especially after seeing the Awards listed on the website. Service was very slow - more so the kitchen seemed to be very slow. Our server (there was only one) was fairly attentive, not much you can do when the kitchen isn't putting out the food. Took 40 minutes for our food to come out after placing the order. Menu was not that large, and they were out of 3 main menu items. I had the roasted chicken sandwich (chicken was "good" but not a lot of flavor - housemade chips were stale. My friend had the caeser salad with grilled chicken, salad was good but the chicken had an odd flavor. Won't be going back.
The food was outstanding. The service was lacking… Near the end of the meal it seemed as if we were hurried . Tables are very close to one another which we did not mind. Made friends with that couple next to us and had a wonderful evening. Again the food was outstanding service just seem to be rushed
I made a reservation through open table for 6p Friday, Nov 30 (party of two). Show up to the restaurant and they have having a private party going on. Nothing was shown on Open Table. The main attendant said there were no tables, asked how I made the reservation and then said I have no reservation for you. I explained that I made it via Open Table and offered to show the confirmation. He glanced at his computer and said no, we don't have a reservation. No further explanation or apology. Today, I see that I received 100 pts for dining, so clearly this went in to their system. Anyway, customer service was severely lacking and probably best that we did not dine there. Too many good restaurants to feel the need to try this again and risk poor customer service.
First time at this restaurant for brunch. A delightful experience. I had the Market Breakfast which was absolutely delicious and the perfect portion. On weekends they have a $15 Mimosa special as well that is perfect for a party of two or more. Our food server was very nice and attentive. She was engaging and made sure we had everything we needed. I was very pleased. Highly recommended.
This is the second time I have been up The Market by Jennifer and, like the first time, it did not disappoint! The space is modern and comfortable, the service was outstanding, and the food was delicious. This is a restaurant you can go to with a group and know that everyone will be able to find something they like. From the pazole to the poke, everything my group ordered was a hit. I highly recommend checking this place out!
Loved this AZ Restaurant Week find! Will be going back. We loved the atmosphere, open, cheerful, casual and open kitchen! I was impressed with the care and presentation Chef Jennifer Russo puts on each plate. She has acquired serving pieces that go with "The Market" name. Don't believe me, order a cup of coffee with cream and sugar on the side! So fun! The food was delicious, I was full but once I tasted the Pot de Creme with the tasty anise cookie I wasn't about to share a single bite. Delicious!
We enjoyed our second visit to this restaurant immensely. Good and drink and service are always good!
This gem is hidden on the back side of the strip mall. My friend and I met for lunch and we were richly rewarded. We were greeted on the patio and invited to choose our own seats. Our server Matthew was so understanding as my friend and I hadn't seen each other for 4 months and had a lot of catching up to do. Matthew was attentive but not hovering. He shared about the menu items and offered suggestions. My friend and I decided to split our orders which Matthew gladly did before our food arrived. The Cesar Salad was perfectly dressed and the hamburger on the brioche bun was incredible. We had the Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. We were pleasantly surprised with the homemade biscuit that was slightly savory, a nice balance to the perfectly sweet strawberries and whip cream. I've added Jennifer's to my list of places to go back to.
Only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. I finally had to get up and ask him to take our order after waiting over 20 minutes. Food was nothing special. We ordered 2 burgers and the taste was ok but both burgers were very well done when we asked for medium. Price was expensive for the portion sizes.
our first time and sadly our last... food was average - crispy chicken not crispy but dry - salad bland. service was poor... not sure why they have 2 people waiting tables plus bar tending? no attention from owner - no attention from staff.
Fantastic posole. Good Aruba salad, could benefit from salt and pepper. Which were not part of the table setting, FYI.
Yummy food as always, great service too!
Levi helped adjust our reservation without a hitch when we added a fifth for Mother's day.
wife and i had a great date here. cute place, great food, attentive service.
My third and most recent visit to THE MARKET by JENNIFER was to treat my daughter to Easter brunch. I could not have chosen a better time and place. Two of my favorite performers were there to entertain with vocal/guitar tunes, as well. Each time I visit seems better than the last, if that's even possible. How do you improve on perfection? Locally sourced products creatively transformed into elegant and sumptuous dishes, delivered to you by friendly, attentive, and professional Servers. And the prices, while perhaps a bit high for frequent visits if on a low budget, are still surprisingly reasonable for this level of quality and excellence. I look forward to every opportunity to treat myself to The Market by Jennifer, and you should too.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our Easter Sunday meal at this charming location. Service was outstanding and our food choices were yummy!
First visit. I had friends in town visiting. Looked up restaurant on Open Table. Levi the host immediately dampened my experience with his rude behavior. Taylor, our waiter, saved the day with his superb service. Keep Taylor...and remove Levi from the front door. He is a liability.
Perfect gem of a place--all people should try it. The food was superb and the staff were cordial and professional. Plus it was a wonderful dining room and a nice ambience
Excellent pork chops and really great salmon. We'll be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It is located in the Arcadia neighborhood, which tends to have pretty good cuisine. It's located in the back/side of a very peculiar strip mall that has an old-fashioned feel to it. The restaurant itself has a modern but rustic design. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We came here for Sunday brunch, and there was live music to serenade us throughout our meal. We were seated on the patio by request. The weather was quite nice at this time so it was perfect. The restaurant was far enough from the main road to have minimal car noise and smell interference.
The brunch menu was pretty diverse from seafood to Hispanic-inspired dishes. They do have bottomless mimosas/blood mary/bellinis...just FYI! My friends ordered coffee, and the presentation was adorable! First, the cup of coffee itself was enormous. Then, they serve it on a dish that holds the spoon, cream, and sugar. It ends up looking like all-in-one coffee kit. I ordered the carne adovada omelette and was able to substitute with egg-whites. The meat was pretty juicy and tasty. We also ordered some desserts which were very rich and tasty.
The one downside, a very important factor, is the service. My friends and I stayed about 3 hours since there was much socializing to be done. It was busy when we arrived but slowed significantly halfway through our visit. During the whole time, our waiter was not very engaging. He was very short and was constantly walking away as he talked to us. After we paid, we stayed for probably another hour. He never came back to refill our water or check in.
Food and wait staff were fabulous! Would recommend to friends and others!
Glad we had reservations for the four of us on a Saturday night. Our service was well paced and the food quite interesting. The hamburger had to be deconstructed to fit in your mouth, but a very cool presentation with delicious fries. I was offered the option of a cup of soup rather than bowl with my salad. It had not been on the menu that way. Loved the popcorn with squash bisque. Surprising how well it went together. Salads are interesting and quite filling. We also had the house Chardonnay. Nice flavor for a house wine. A cut above the norm. My husband is not a foodie so would not want to go back, but I will be there with girlfriends for lunch on our next outing.
The food and service were great! The Old Fashion's were strong! We had a great time, and look forward to going back!
Great quiche, bottomless mimosa and Billie Holiday. Great service too!
We chose the restaurant because of a review on "Check Please". The food was very good, nice selection of entrees. Drinks seemed a little pricey, but overall a pretty good value. The server was very professional and just attentive enough. Would go again.
Great neighborhood feel. Comfortable atmosphere. Loved watching the food coming out of the kitchen. Each dish was prepared with detail. Great staff .
