This gem is hidden on the back side of the strip mall. My friend and I met for lunch and we were richly rewarded. We were greeted on the patio and invited to choose our own seats. Our server Matthew was so understanding as my friend and I hadn't seen each other for 4 months and had a lot of catching up to do. Matthew was attentive but not hovering. He shared about the menu items and offered suggestions. My friend and I decided to split our orders which Matthew gladly did before our food arrived. The Cesar Salad was perfectly dressed and the hamburger on the brioche bun was incredible. We had the Strawberry Shortcake for dessert. We were pleasantly surprised with the homemade biscuit that was slightly savory, a nice balance to the perfectly sweet strawberries and whip cream. I've added Jennifer's to my list of places to go back to.
Only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. I finally had to get up and ask him to take our order after waiting over 20 minutes. Food was nothing special. We ordered 2 burgers and the taste was ok but both burgers were very well done when we asked for medium. Price was expensive for the portion sizes.
our first time and sadly our last... food was average - crispy chicken not crispy but dry - salad bland. service was poor... not sure why they have 2 people waiting tables plus bar tending? no attention from owner - no attention from staff.
Fantastic posole. Good Aruba salad, could benefit from salt and pepper. Which were not part of the table setting, FYI.
Yummy food as always, great service too!
Levi helped adjust our reservation without a hitch when we added a fifth for Mother's day.
wife and i had a great date here. cute place, great food, attentive service.
My third and most recent visit to THE MARKET by JENNIFER was to treat my daughter to Easter brunch. I could not have chosen a better time and place. Two of my favorite performers were there to entertain with vocal/guitar tunes, as well. Each time I visit seems better than the last, if that's even possible. How do you improve on perfection? Locally sourced products creatively transformed into elegant and sumptuous dishes, delivered to you by friendly, attentive, and professional Servers. And the prices, while perhaps a bit high for frequent visits if on a low budget, are still surprisingly reasonable for this level of quality and excellence. I look forward to every opportunity to treat myself to The Market by Jennifer, and you should too.
My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our Easter Sunday meal at this charming location. Service was outstanding and our food choices were yummy!
First visit. I had friends in town visiting. Looked up restaurant on Open Table. Levi the host immediately dampened my experience with his rude behavior. Taylor, our waiter, saved the day with his superb service. Keep Taylor...and remove Levi from the front door. He is a liability.
Perfect gem of a place--all people should try it. The food was superb and the staff were cordial and professional. Plus it was a wonderful dining room and a nice ambience
Excellent pork chops and really great salmon. We'll be back!
I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! It is located in the Arcadia neighborhood, which tends to have pretty good cuisine. It's located in the back/side of a very peculiar strip mall that has an old-fashioned feel to it. The restaurant itself has a modern but rustic design. It has both indoor and outdoor seating. We came here for Sunday brunch, and there was live music to serenade us throughout our meal. We were seated on the patio by request. The weather was quite nice at this time so it was perfect. The restaurant was far enough from the main road to have minimal car noise and smell interference.
The brunch menu was pretty diverse from seafood to Hispanic-inspired dishes. They do have bottomless mimosas/blood mary/bellinis...just FYI! My friends ordered coffee, and the presentation was adorable! First, the cup of coffee itself was enormous. Then, they serve it on a dish that holds the spoon, cream, and sugar. It ends up looking like all-in-one coffee kit. I ordered the carne adovada omelette and was able to substitute with egg-whites. The meat was pretty juicy and tasty. We also ordered some desserts which were very rich and tasty.
The one downside, a very important factor, is the service. My friends and I stayed about 3 hours since there was much socializing to be done. It was busy when we arrived but slowed significantly halfway through our visit. During the whole time, our waiter was not very engaging. He was very short and was constantly walking away as he talked to us. After we paid, we stayed for probably another hour. He never came back to refill our water or check in.
Food and wait staff were fabulous! Would recommend to friends and others!
Glad we had reservations for the four of us on a Saturday night. Our service was well paced and the food quite interesting. The hamburger had to be deconstructed to fit in your mouth, but a very cool presentation with delicious fries. I was offered the option of a cup of soup rather than bowl with my salad. It had not been on the menu that way. Loved the popcorn with squash bisque. Surprising how well it went together. Salads are interesting and quite filling. We also had the house Chardonnay. Nice flavor for a house wine. A cut above the norm. My husband is not a foodie so would not want to go back, but I will be there with girlfriends for lunch on our next outing.
The food and service were great! The Old Fashion's were strong! We had a great time, and look forward to going back!
Great quiche, bottomless mimosa and Billie Holiday. Great service too!
Great neighborhood feel. Comfortable atmosphere. Loved watching the food coming out of the kitchen. Each dish was prepared with detail. Great staff .
We chose the restaurant because of a review on "Check Please". The food was very good, nice selection of entrees. Drinks seemed a little pricey, but overall a pretty good value. The server was very professional and just attentive enough. Would go again.
Good food and food service
We ordered the special breakfast sandwich which consisted on egg and lox (smoked salmon) and it was delivered without the salmon. Waiter apologized. Coffee was excellent.
Sandwich was bland.......
My husband and I went to The Market for my birthday. We both agreed that it was the best restaurant meal we have had in a long time. Started off with the meatball appetizer and then I had the pork chop with polenta (amazing) and my husband had the gnocchi which he loved. To top it off, I ordered the bread pudding to share and it was the best EVER! We can't wait to return with friends!
We had dinner before the opera. The food and service were excellent.
First time visit, very good.
Highly impressed. Went for Valentine's and it was exceptionally a great experience. From the food, to the service, to the ambiance no complaints here. I am definitely coming back and telling all my friends and family about it.
Hands down our favorite brunch place in Phoenix.
The restaurant must have been understaffed. They were very behind on anything service related: asked for coffee four times and ended up refilling my own; our waters were empty nearly the entire visit; we did not get to order our entrees until an hour in, and waited another long time for the dishes; we did not see a drink menu or hear about the drinks (until we started asking as we saw them walk by -- I saw a fun looking bloody mary, but by the time I asked about it they were all out...); my husband's side order of fries arrived as we were paying the bill, with apologies; etc.
The food: our party of 9 each ordered a dish alongside 3 appetizers to share and a dessert (we were celebrating a birthday). Only my husband, who ordered the chilaquiles, and my nephew, who ordered the breakfast sandwich (his favorite order anywhere) were truly satisfied with their meals. No one thought the appetizers were worth ordering, except for the bread and butter board (I highly recommend ignoring the calamari and the vegetarian board!! Bad value and bad flavors. I think the green sauce [which was not explained, but reminded of an avocado herb vinaigrette which I would normally love] was "off"/bad). I ordered the vegetarian omelette, which was fine.... Nothing particularly worthwhile about it (the eggs were well-cooked, but under-seasoned, and the veggies topped rather than filled the omelette, which made for a boring dish). My toast came 15 minutes later. My sister, whose birthday we were celebrating ordered the shrimp and grits, which was also bland with pools of butter (and, this was a complaint from a person who appreciates butter, and knows a good bowl of shrimp & grits, having grown in the south).
The place was cute and well-decorated, however loud. The service was the main problem, but I would not return for the food. None of us ordered one of the entrees, except for mom mom who ordered the nicoise, and only 3 ordered an alcoholic drink, and the bill was surprisingly high.
The food was excellent.
Service was very slow and ruined the experience. We were sat near a door that we had to ask to be closed. Drinks took 45 minutes and our food took way over an hour. This was not a great dining experience.
We had a friend from out-of-town visit so we decided to try The MARKET as something new. Even though we had a reservation they only had high tables or outside seating available. High tables are uncomfortable for us and it was a little cool outside so we were disappointed but chose outside with a heater. It seems we arrived shortly after a big group so our waiter had to focus on them making our service slow. The salads, green goddess, caesar and calamari salad were out in a timely manner and very tasty. It was a wait between courses but it was OK as we were catching up with our friend. Main course: dungenous crab mac & cheese was outstanding, the prime beef was tender and delicious, the chicken was good but a little dry but the side dishes were excellent making up for chicken itself. We had a great time with our friend with good food complimenting the visit. We'll definitely look forward to a return visit - especially to try the Saturday and Sunday brunch!
Went to Jennifer's to celebrate a friend's birthday. We opted for Sunday Brunch. The day was magnificent, the food absolutely delicious and creatively prepared without it being to frou-frou.
The ambiance is lovely and the service outstanding - the only negative was that for the space (Jennifer's is small) the music was too loud. We could hear them in the parking lot when we pulled up. However, I must admit that when they came to play their next set, they seem to have toned it down a bit and it was quite enjoyable to listen to. All in all everything was lovely and I would definitely come back again - and again - and again....
They have better chairs, food is wonderful. Love this place.
Only drawback of any kind is chairs are terribly uncomfortable. Hard metal, doesn't encourage you to linger for that extra drink or dessert or a chat. Food is wonderful but our backsides were screaming to leave.
Amazing pork chop, delicious roast chicken. Very pleasant twist on guacamole. Food was outstanding, restaurant was lovely.
I just downloaded this app and saw this restaurant on it. It is close to my house so I decided to try it out with my date. It was not very crowded so seating was not an issue. Our server was tremendous. The wine and beer menu had a great selection and the prices of the wine not excessive. These were several dinner choices but only really one per meat type. I like this as I sometimes think restaurants overdo menus. Both of us had an excellent salad. Our server was nice enough to allow us two entrees that he split on two plates. Both were delicious. I'm not opposed to spending money on a really good meal. The price we paid for what we ordered was extremely reasonable. I've heard great things about Jennifer's catering business. I will definitely be back. I've paid way more money for not nearly as good food in many Oldtown restaurants. I'll definitely be back!!! Highly recommend.
They were amazing. I had to change the reservation and Richard was very accommodating. The waiter was very attentive Good food. Love that it's local ingredients and unique options. We will definitely go back.
Wonderful place! Wonderful staff! Exceptional food~Will definitely be back
Very disappointed after having read Open Table reviews. The metal chairs and stools are best suited to children. Not adults trying to enjoy fine fresh food. We won't return.
We are new to the neighborhood and were expecting more out of this restaurant after reading all it's good reviews. It's really a little too casual for my taste. And, on a chilly night, having all the doors open was a little bit uncomfortable. Not sure we will be going back. Although, I hear they have an amazing brunch menu!
Not a place I would return to for a few reasons:
-Value is fair. Considering it was breakfast, I expected more for the price charged (even an added slice of toast). I left hungry.
-Metal chairs were uncomfortable
-Omelet was a friend egg with a few topping thrown on-top and mixed in with 'potato sticks' that's were awkward to eat.
-Breakfast for two was rather small
-Restaurant inside is decorated cute
-Like the small cafe feel
-It's tucked away and is bike friendly
-Service was good and friendly
Excellent service, very good food (butternut squash bisque is a must try as well as the deliciously unique guacamole). Overall a great meal!
Quaint little place with awesome brunch vibe. Bottomless mimosas, great selection of food items and fun service.
