The Mark Dine & Tap Ratings and Reviews
We went on graduation weekend. The menu was limited and even then the food was sub-par. For example, we ordered two burgers and were told all are cooked medium well. Ours were barely medium. We have dined here in the past and it has never been this bad. The service was lacking as well. Quite the disappointment! Will never go over a busy weekend again.
I visited The Mark on a visit to Notre Dame, last week. It's a casual neighborhood place. My daughter and I are pretty serious foodies and were candidly not expecting to find a lot of good meals in South Bend. The burgers we had at The Mark were absolutely delicious- we are still talking about them! The sweet potato fries, friendly service and generous wine pour were lovely as well. All in all, this was the best meal we ate in our three day visit, which included a dinner at a very pricey, fairly swanky place in downtown SB. Love The Mark!!
We were visiting from California for a hockey tournament. Nice variety of well crafted selections. Our group ate there two times in one weekend.
Our lunch waitress was great. We had a late dinner one night and the bartender tool great care of us.
The manager was there both times as well. She was very engaged and made sure everything was to our liking.
Service has improved over the years, getting your food still takes awhile. Nobody is in a hurry at the restaraunt to get your meal to you. Food is decent but not a great value for the price. Good selection of beers and wine. Environment is clean and pleasant. Overall it's a nice place to eat just wish the pricing was more reasonable
We came at noon the day after the ND-USC game, expecting to eat brunch. We were disappointed to find out that brunch is no longer served. We ordered lunch which was just okay. Coffee does not have much flavor (too weak). Service is decent. Drinks, especially the Bloody Mary, are excellent. Coffee drink, the Anonymous Coffee, was excellent. Still, I think we will find another place to go for breakfast or brunch.
We went as a family of 5 after an ND football game, and it was packed. Luckily we had reservations otherwise game day wait times can be up to 2 hours. The food is okay--their burgers are good but none of my group was particularly impressed with the entrees. Cauliflower steak was dry, the Marsala pasta was im a cream sauce, and the Cubano was a bit bland. Their bar is very nice and the beer is great. Service is also good. Overall a solid choice but not worth waiting hours.
We have been to the Mark Dine and Tap several times when visiting Notre Dame. Conveniently located at Eddy Street Commons and superior food and service make this a great restaurant. The staff is welcoming and accommodating and the owner is very personable and very involved to make sure customers have a great experience.
WE were greeted at the door by the Host. he checked us in and we went right to our table. Our server was seconds behind and greeted us warmly. The server asked if we would enjoy a beverage while reviewing the menu selections and before leaving informed us of the 2 specials. Our server returned within minutes with our drinks and we asked for a few more minutes with the menu selections upon return we placed our order and enjoyed conversation. Salads were excellent and the main entrees were even better. We enjoyed our meals with a glass of wine from the list and the choices were good and the selections better. If visiting Notre dame or South bend, I recommend this restaurant for dinner.
We've been repeat customers at The Mark for over a year now (we have a condo in Legends Row) and we've never had a bad experience. Food, service and ambience are always very good. However, now that the Mark doesn't open until 11:00 on Sundays and only serves a lunch menu at that time, we miss the breakfast menu which used to be offered on Sunday mornings (hoping they'll bring it back)
This is a great place to eat. After football games, though, their services collapses under the weight of the increased traffic.
This was not as big of a problem in past years, even after football games. This season, though, it is extreme. From waiters not showing up to get drink orders for 15-20 minutes, to extreme delays in the kitchen.
I don't know why this year it has gotten so much worse. I hope it can improve.
I heard nothing but wonderful compliments about the food and atmosphere from the External Advisors that we brought in. I called the day of the reservation to confirm that the Advisors would not receive a bill, and my office's house account was to be charged. The night of the dinner that is not what happened, the advisors had to pay for their meals.
Another great job on a football Saturday night. Our reservation was honored exactly on time, the service was friendly and the food good. The manager made sure to swing by our table to make sure we were satisfied,as he always has done in the past. I have been dining there for a few years now and always look forward to returning.
