The Marisol Ratings and Reviews
The food was outstanding as usual, but the service was rushed at first and then slow, erratic overall. We consider ourselves to be regular customers here and we had one of our favorite servers. But we did not feel welcomed that night from the time we walked into the door. It was our 50th wedding anniversary and the restaurant had been informed of such, but they seemed not to care in their service for our table of five. Because there were gifts presented, they seemed irritated to have to deal with that interruption. And they didn't deal with it. They just went right along with their service, not noticing what was going on at our table. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, not busy, with only one other 4 top table seated later and which they seated right next to us. We purposefully came very early when the restaurant opened so we wouldn't be in a crowded room when we wanted to reminisce and open a couple of gifts and so we wouldn't impact the service for ourselves or others. They left the bottle of wine we ordered on the brick fireplace and did not pour more than once, so we did not see the bottle until leaving when it was knocked over and spilt. Our children were very disappointed in the evening they planned for us, particularly because this was the restaurant we said we wanted to go to!
Highly rated restaurant and the food was as promised. However, the maître d and server was brusque and rude. We would ask for something and he would walk away instantly and left us wondering if he heard. He did hear and fulfill our needs, but he was obviously put out that we were there and kept pushing both food and order choices at us. Amazingly as we were one of the two last tables left before closing, he summarily turned the lights up bright.
The food was fine dining, the price was accordingly, but it might as well been a lousy McDonalds for service and the rude treatment. Shame on the restaurant for allowing this.
One of the best meals I've ever had in my life. The chef/owner, Robin Upson, offers an incredible array of amazing dishes from her kitchen. Our server had the entire menu memorized, and offered terrific guidance and suggestions throughout the meal. From the fresh-baked bread, to the truffle-flour gnocchi (out of this world!), all the way through dessert - everything was spectacular!
Small bistro environment. Few if any of the tables could be called “secluded.” The food was amazing and our server was very helpful in narrowing our choices when asked. Didn’t have the opportunity this time to enjoy their cozy piano lounge but could seeing us coming back just for drinks. Our pre-dinner cocktails were poured in the classic style with a heavy hand. This place is perfect for the true gourmand looking for something a cut above the typical Triad dining options.
Loved the atmosphere. Food was expense, but excellent. Many choices of fresh caught seafood; large number of different choices to pick. Nice wine list; excellent desserts. Truly enjoyed our anniversary celebration; would return for another special occasion .
We have been dining at Marisol for over 10years now and each time is even a little better than the last. The menu is forever changing and morphs into whatever the chef can find that is fresh and in season. Heather has been our server since our very first time and even if we go for a long period without coming in she never forgets us and what our favorites are. When she recites the menu of the evening it’s like someone reading poetry. My wife and I joke that we never look at the menu because every night there are so many specials, some delicacies, that it’s a waste of time to bother looking. This restaurant is pricey but way worth the culinary experience as well as the wine choices.
The food was good, but I think it was extremely overpriced. The entrees were around $40, but did not include a salad. The "sides" that came with the entrees were small portions and were all the exact same (and nothing to write home about). Salads were an additional $10-12. If the entrees came with specific sides and were served with a basic side salad, then maybe ~ $40 would have been appropriate.
This was my 1st time to the restaurant. The food was phenomenal. The lamb just melt in your mouth and all you needed was a butter knife to cut the filet. The cauliflower soup was out of this world and to top the meal off - the Scharffen Berger Liquid Center Chocolate Cake for desert was an absolute winner. Service was excellent. Definitely will go back.
This was our first visit and we were wonderfully pleased. We were celebrating my mothers birthday and it was a great choice. The oysters were to die for and I usually am not a fan of oysters. Everyone was beyond pleased with their food. Our waitress was beyond amazing. We will definitely be back.
Love this place. The food is consistently great, and portions are generous. The decor and layout could use a refresh (it really can feel like dining in a storefront with the wicker screen as the only partition) but typically I am more focused on my company and my meal. Great and knowledgeable staff.
The Marisol is the standard to which every dining experience is compared...as special as this place is one must ask why dine anywhere else? I couldn't afford to eat here daily, but with the impeccable service, and delightful and flavorful creations this place is an amazing value. My favorite. I wonder, "why has it been so long since we last dined here? "
We arrived on time and staff didn't have our reservation. I showed it to them on my phone, along with the reservation number. They stated that several times Open Table had not notified them of reservations. Really? Great. Open Table, you have only one job: Notify the restaurant. Dear reader, do yourself a favor and just call the restaurant. Why include a middleman, and the opportunity to have your special evening marred? Marisol staff did their best to accommodate us, but it was clear they were pretty irritated with Open Table and we felt like intruders because of it. This was my wife's birthday. She does not like fish or seafood, and Marisol does not publish online its menu. We took a chance and went, to find there were four choices for her. Thankfully, she enjoyed the lamb entrée. But the embarrassing start, the limited selection for her, and the over-the-top prices made this restaurant a one-stop sampling experience for us.
We were visiting from Florida, furniture shopping and found this fabulous restaurant. The food was divine, and the service was excellent. Had two appetizers. The crab pasta was yummy, and the homemade truffle sausages were tasty and uniquely flavored with truffle oil. I had the duck which was perfectly cooked and a nice size portion and my wife had fish which was wonderful. For dessert we had bread pudding and cheesecake. Both were excellent! I seriously cannot imagine a better fine dining experience than The Marisol. It is truly a gem!
