Bill and Betty’s sons, Bill, Jack, and Robert, along with their crew, now carry on the tradition of outstanding hospitality of von Rutenberg Ventures. Waterfront dining on the patio and a sunset over the marina make dinner at Mariner’s an evening to remember.

The Mariner's Inn Ratings and Reviews
Visited for an 8pm reservation on a Friday night, and was surprisingly quiet. Great bar service, great cocktails, friendly and attentive wait staff. Would highly recommend the mushroom appetizers, and jumbo shrimp. Steaks were good, but Bearnaise sauce was very heavy/rich and overpowered the steak, so would advise to get it on the side. Overall a very good experience and look forward to another visit.
Not the first time I've been to the Mariners Inn, food was good as usual, but the drink were outrageously priced. It was Valentines Day, and they seemed to tighten up the reservations, we seemed very rushed. The waitress was at our table immediately after serving our drinks, looking for our order, and our food was served in less than 15 minutes.
Very good food overall—had a knowledgable server and the restaurant was very clean and drinks were superb! Had to mention it was our anniversary (was noted on our reservation) but the waitress brought a complimentary slice of key lime pie which was delicious. We hope to return in the summer months!
We had a birthday celebration with 7 people. We had a nice place in the bar area where the bartender and waitress were very attentive. We had a nice table with great views of the falling snow outside during our dinner. Our waitress was very busy but made sure we were tended to and was very timely and always with a smile. When food came it was hot and delicious! That can be difficult when your busy and have a loud party to tend to(thanks Renee). All 7 in our group were very impressed and happy with our meals. We all had different steaks, crab cakes, lobster with salad and or soup. We also shared a death by chocolate cake....Well done Mariner staff! We will be back.
The décor is very fitting to the name of the establishment. The menu choice is varied enough for many differing tastes for sure! The steaks were prepared correctly and the side dishes well prepared and presented as well. I would recommend this place to anyone one. It's not Fazoli's cheap but hopefully no one is expecting that from a supper club.
We went for New Year's Eve dinner. The Old Fashions before dinner were just fair and overpriced however the dessert drinks were very good. Did not realize that they had a limited menu that night and could not accommodate extras on the hash browns . The steaks were ordered medium and came out medium rare but were good after being sent back. Salmon got high marks from the person in our party that ordered it. In general the food was very good, however, our waitress Rene, not so much. She was too busy, short in conversation and not very personable. We barely ordered or asked questions before she was leaving the table.
I would return for the food but not the service.
Had not been to the Mariners in quite some time. We used to visit often especially for special occasions for years. It was our go to restaurant. So many good restaurants in Madison to visit so no other reason other than expanding our options. After dining there on New Years Eve we will be frequenting our "old fav" again. The food was amazing, the atmosphere cozy ( which is hard to find these days) , the service was wonderful!! We will be back soon
We went on New Years Eve so menú pared down. I had tenderloin steak with peppercorn sauce and hash browns. Both were delicious. My husband had New York strip steak with mashed potatoes. The steak was very good, but my tenderloin was much better. He wanted a bigger steak at 14oz vs mine at 6 oz. The rolls were delicious and piping hot so the butter would melt nicely on them. The salad was your average salad. We were celebrating our anniversary and did not mention to server, so I am not sure if they do anything special for the occasion.
I just hate to say this, but we were so disappointed with dinner on New Years Eve....we save money in a jug all year long just so we can have a wonderful meal for New Years. We got there at 4:30, got our table promptly and was greeted by our waitress, Heather. I then mentioned to her about the champagne and how I knew it was supposed to be free for tables of 4 or 5...there was some confusion and when she brought the champagne she said it was $20! I had stated that the Celebration menu had stated it was free....oh no, she said, she said you had to order drinks from the bar and then you could get the free champagne with the meal. Yikes, I stated that I did not see that listed on the webpage and then she got rather snippy, ....so fine, we all ordered drinks. The apps came, and then the soup and salad before we were even done with the apps, and then the main course came before we were done with salad. Like they were trying to hurry us along...and then to top it off, all of our steaks were rare and they all had to go back. Ugh....the steaks finally came back after we had eaten half of our potatoes. So much for a nice dinner out, guess we will have to try somewhere else next year. So sorry to complain but when you spend that kind of money on a dinner it really should be perfect and the waitress should be smiley and happy...neither of which we got that night.
