Watched the sunset in the bar before eating dinner. Beautiful view of the ocean. Delicious food. Expense prevents me from coming more often. Love the Cesar salad made table side.
Birthday - great!
Outstanding all the way around. Would have given it 5 stars on food presentation, too
It was a very good dinner, very well prepared in a great quiet, lovely view restaurant
Really nice ocean view, but the day was cloudy so the sunset isn’t very clear
Great place overall. Can’t beat the views! The cocktails need a little work, especially for that price. I’m not sure the bartender/waitress understood the mixtures. They were pretty bad. The food however was delicious. Scallops were fantastic.
Overall good experience. Great waiter--Brian. It was busy Sat eve, but service good, food excellent, a little noisier than I would prefer, but not much a successful restaurant can do about that.
As expected, a top end chef restaurant. As expected, a little stuff in style. Very expensive. Usually a great ocean view...it rained for us!
the experience was awesome!!
The server was a bit odd and overly eager to receive the bill. The food was mediocre at it’s best. To celebrate your birthday and receive mediocre service was a huge disappointment!
First time ever in La Jolla. Did a bike tour with shorts, showed up for our reservation. Went through the valet, The hostesses, the bartender, nobody said anything. Maitre de approaches me and said they have a dress code, business casual. I have on dress shorts and a golf shirt. Can’t serve us in the dining room, but we could eat at the bar or the lounge area. Reluctantly, we agreed. I’ve done business casual forever. Never has it included jeans and a flannel shirt. We watched several people let in with that attire. The service was mediocre at best, took forever for food, forgot our shared salad beforehand and offered it to us at the end of our meal. Pricey dinner and poor service.
Dining at the Marine Room was a great experience. The food and atmosphere was so on point. We had a blast and fun time celebrating my wife’s Birthday.
My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. It was a memorable night with stellar service. The dishes were a culinary masterpiece! Even though we split everything, the chef masterfully divided them with the same exquisite detail I would expect a full dish to convey. The view of the ocean was breathtaking. Every seat appears to have an awesome view. This restaurant is a real gem!
Great food and view. Waitress great, but slow service for clearing dishes and they did not remember birthday.
View was nice, most of the staff was friendly, and wasn’t too crowded. Would not recommend the swordfish dish, but the Branzino was great.
We missed the high-tide rush but our low-tide ocean views were beautiful. People walking, birds on evening swift dining, and of course the changing colors of the sunset. That was outside! Inside the dinner was extraordinary tasting and a delight to the eyes. A very special place.
service was GREAT but it was as if you got teleported into some 1980s fine dining purgatory, full of beige and taupe.
We liked the view a lot, the food was small portion for me on daily diet of 2200 Calories, the service was very good.
Excellent meal, ambience and service.
Our table perfect, view extraordinary, service devine, but, mama suddenly became unwell and we had to leave immediately. We were just finishing a caesar salad that was to live for.
Years ago I worked in the first class service industry, the salad brought me home.
I called our waiter, by the time I had called Uber, got mama to the door (paid our bill).; Our dinners were handed to us packaged and ready to go.
Thank you Marine room, later we dined in the comfort of home with fabulous dinners ready for us. Mama is doing fine.
Oak Harbor, WA
In LaJolla, visiting mom.
Beautiful room. Service was friendly but not prompt....we had to flag down our waiter several times. Lobster bisque, ahi tuna, salmon, and halibut were excellent. Beef carpaccio was well presented but the beef itself was tastless.
Arrived 15’ early for 6 PM reservation. Asked to be seated in the virtually empty dining room, Maitre d’ insisted that we wait in the bar; told him we were not ordering drinks and did not want to go into the noisy bar. He finally relented and seated us as requested. Someone has priorities wrong.
I was blown away by the setting of the Marine Room. Took my parents for the High Tide breakfast on March 1 - it was so special. The view from all tables is stunning, and the breakfast buffet offerings were exquisite. Matt seated us within 5 minutes. All members of the wait staff were attentive. Reservations strongly recommended.
The Marine Room does not disappoint in ambiance ever. The brunch menu was okay, we were there for the ambience. The service however was very lacking, something we have never experienced before.
Location on the ocean is unparalleled. Great selection for the high tide breakfast buffet. Amazing food. The Waves hitting the building and splashing up on the window are an unforgettable experience. Expensive for a breakfast , but worth every penny.
We attended the High Tide Brunch at the Marine Room. The restaurant is comfortable and very scenic. But the food was really just so-so. There wasn't anything that wowed me. Not even the coffee. The "eggs benedict" was made on potato slices rather than muffins. The omelette station didn't have anything special and the line was really long. After waiting for about 10 minutes and not moving forward, I gave up. The main reason we went was to experience the waves crashing against the windows; and that was wonderful. Our server seemed pretty inexperienced. Paid $55 each for a so-so brunch. Didn't include mimosas. I don't think I'll return, even for the high tide brunch.
Food is excellent, but service is not up to par. From the front desk to the server, all can use more professionalism and friendliness.
Birthday good choice, nice Ocean front view. Excellent host and waiter.
I always enjoy the scenery at The Marine Room, the food is secondary to the beautiful view.
Please note that this restaurant has some amenities for disabled - no elevator though.
Our waiter was charming and spent just the right amount of time with us.
High Tide Breakfast is the best time to spend at the Marine Room.
Excellent location right on the beach-waves in front of the window. Food is very good, service very attentive without being intrusive, wine list excellent and not overpriced.
Great service, amazing view and beautiful food can't ask for more than that! I also noticed that the tables around us were also having a great experience.
Make a reservation and ask for a table by the window, excellent view of the ocean.
Must use the valet parking.
Go on Sunday and get their Lobsters.
This place was the perfect setting for my wife and I to celebrate our anniversary. The food was cooked to perfection, they have an excellent selection of fine wines and champagne, and the service was polite and professional.
View was beautiful. A little noisy in the restaurant. The lobster bisque was outstanding, but the halibut had a lot to be desired. We waited too long for water and wine refills and was never offered pepper for the salad. Overall service was lacking.
We had a great time celebrating my parents’ birthdays while they visited us in San Diego.
The service was good, the food was delicioua
Beautiful sunset dinner at a window seat. Great food that was nicely presented. Very good service. Nice wine selection. Great date night restaurant.
Great food and experience. We were placed close to the window with a picturesque, full view of the ocean which made only eating there even better.
We went to celebrate our engagement and they could not have been more accommodating! They even had a complimentary of champagne! What a great and special place- even though it wa s a bit expensive.
We were on vacation and The Marine Room was recommended by a close friend as a “must do!” So glad we went! It was amazing! You definitely want to go at sunset!!
this was our 5th time since our relocation to SD and the service was lousy
