Once again the Marine was a perfect dining experience. We had a table by the window with a view of the ocean. It was relatively quite being a Sunday night. So we were able to really enjoy each others conversations and had a lot of laughs. The food was amazing, our waiter very informative and I had leftover Osso Bucco for lunch the next day. What more can you want?
This is our favorite go to place to bring visitors and special ocassions for us.

What a beautiful restaurant as soon as you walk down the staircase you see La Jolla Beach. the hostess and waiter were so friendly and professional and completely understood our situation (we had a kid). This place was a bit pricey but worth every dollar.

Our food ws delicious! I had the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. My husband had the lobster tail and fillet mignon which both were excellent. It’s just very very expensive.

Service was good. The food was ok; I expected drinks or espresso to be included in the brunch. Expected more food options and higher end selection for a 170$ brunch for two people.

As a San Diego native, the Marine Room High Tide Brunch has been on my bucket list for my whole life. I finally found a good high tide (7.4 ft) to fit my availability. It was worth the wait. My husband and I got a table right on up on an ocean picture window. and we stared out the window the entire meal. The food was good, but even if it wasn't, we probably would not have noticed.

We have come for High Tide Breakfast for 7 years. Always great! But sadly this year the "hot water" for tea was tepid. We told the waiter. He brought out another pot but alas it was also tepid warm.I think the machine that dispensed the water was not heating properly.
Otherwise a great meal.

We come to this restaurant twice a year for its high tide brunch and for family gathering during Christmas holidays. The view is still very gorgeous, but we felt the service has changed over the past couple of years. The hostess in the front are not as warm as they supposed to be, and the young waiters are less attentive and barely getting their job done. Last Sunday we had to ask two times and two different waiters to get our coffee. There is also not much warmth in the service. During the past 12 years we have been here, we were only lucky once to get a table alongside the window, even though we requested it specifically each time when we made the reservation. I still recommend this place to people who haven’t been here before, it is a beautiful restaurant to visit. For us next year I am thinking to find a new place to try.

High Tide breakfast buffet at the Marine Room was excellent. My favorite dishes were the fritata, the grilled vegetables, the Brioche French toast, the bacon, and the sausage. I also enjoyed the desert table, my favorite was the mango dessert. We had a nice table next to the window where we could see the waves crashing .

We arrived an hour early and enjoyed wine at the bar. The server there was courteous and very helpful. We were the only people at the bar. When our reservation time approached, the hostess greeted us and invited us to close our tab and head to a table that had just opened in the dining room. We were seated adjacent to the glass, and facing it, which is a nice touch since most of the time your back is facing the walls/windows at most restaurants.

Both of us ordered the filet/lobster, and it was incredible. Cooked to order, the filet was fantastic.

The server was very courteous and helped us with a couple of bottles of wine that we brought with us.

The location is right on the beach and the atmosphere was really nice. The service was fine but standard for this kind of venues. We asked for a window seat but was not given one, while there're a few open tables. Lobster soup was great. Salad was fine. Main dishes were good but desert was a disappointment.

We opted for the earliest seating (5:30) on a Monday evening. True, the place was virtually empty. In reality, we arrived an hour earlier to “see” the sunset. Unfortunately, at this time of the year, the La Jolla headlands obscure the final rays of the sun. Oh well, we sat at the bar, Monica makes tasty drinks, to watch the Pacific and inexorable to and fro actions of the waters. No big waves crashing against the windows, but nonetheless a relaxing and calming view of the waters.

Dinner was superb. Appetizers were outstanding: for my wife the lobster bisque which had nice pieces of lobster meat, and for me, the scallop with foie gras. Both were a delight and perfectly prepared and composed. I was almost tempted to cancel my entrée and just continue with repetitive orders of scallop with foie gras.
= = = =
In retrospect, I was glad that I did not cancel my entrée. The elk loin was a not-to-miss entrée. When ordering, I asked our waiter as to the chef’s recommendation. Edgar our waiter replied that rare or medium rare were the best options. I opted for rare and I must say I was not disappointed in the least.
= = = =
The signature fillet + lobster tail entrée was my wife’s choice and she too was most delighted with the chef’s preparation and presentation.
= = = =
Yes, the restaurant was a bit empty, but the bar staff and the wait staff were most attentive and informative without being either absent or overbearing.
= = = =
Kudos to all.

Wonderful place to celebrate my 30th wedding anniversary at! Was worried the view at night would be poor but the outdoors is brightly illuminated so you can still see the ocean! It was perfect! Shout out to our server too who treated us so special! Can't wait to return!

Had no plans for Thanksgiving so we decided to check this place out. I made reservations but still had to wait a bit to be seated. No big deal. I understood it was Thanksgiving and the food was worth the wait. The lobster tail was cooked to perfection as was the branzino fillet. The view of the ocean was amazing. Unfortunately, it was not high tide but the scenery was still nice. I will definitely be back.

I don't know whether it was due to it being Thanksgiving or it is an ongoing issue but our service was extremely poor. We sat at our table for 25 minutes with no menus, no water, no bread, and no waiter. Things did not get better from there.

I might have chalked it up to one mishap, but the inattentive, poor service lasted the entire meal. We all skipped starters for fear of how long it would take. I might also have considered an extenuating circumstance (such as wait staff calling out sick or a backed up kitchen) but there was no explanation, apology, or concern expressed. We never had water refills, drinks took another 15 minutes, and we practically had to beg for bread and our order to be taken. We were never offered another round of drinks, which are high profit items, so that was strange. All in all, one of the oddest experiences I have encountered.

It's a shame because the location, food, and reception staff were all great. We won't likely be back because of it.

Fabulous food and right on the beach in LaJolla. The chefs are two of the best in San Diego
and you can always count on the best in service and the most delicious food locally.
We've been dining here for years and love the romance of watching the ocean right outside
the windows. Best of the best.

Checked "outdoor" because with those big windows facing the Pacific it seems like outdoors! Late night because it is a great spot for a nightcap as well as a first class restaurant.

High rating in this review is all the more remarkable considering that they were serving 800+ guests day we were there...because it was Thanksgiving Day!

Marine Room is legendary in La Jolla.

We have come to the Marine Room since we moved to S.D. in 1996. It is elegant, but not snobby like some places in LaJolla. The Chef must be an environmentalist based on his menu choices. Of course, he is an artist in plating every meal we have eaten. Many times we did not really know what was on our plate and our servers always kindly explain the art on our plate. It is usually quiet, the food excellent, service great, and a beautiful view. We have had to cut back on our visits because the prices have gone up quite a lot, but we still try to get there if only to celebrate a special occasion. And we do recommend it to friends and visitors to S.D.

Extraordinary food and view from window tables, however, they will not take requests for a window table as part of your reservation no matter how many years you have been going there, how far you call ahead, how far you have come, or how special the occasion. That is too bad because where you sit makes a great deal of difference in the immediacy of your experience.

The high tide brunch is advertised well but for Marine Room Level I was expecting more sophisticated dishes, not just sausage, bacon , nasty pastry and an omelette station. I feel like there was a big miss on protein dishes, was also not happy that poached eggs were pre-made. They were cold. On plus the blonde hostess was distractive talking to her co worker and not following up with a seating so we ended up waiting after our reserved time for around extra 25 minutes forced to come up to her and remind her.
