For generations of San Diegans, the “Seahorse” symbol of The Marine Room has long stood for its dramatic on-the-surf location and award-winning cuisine by Executive Chef Bernard Guillas and his team. Considering this rare blend of culinary excellence, uncompromising service and beachfront setting, it’s no wonder The Marine Room has become a true San Diego landmark. Simply stated, this is fine dining at its finest. Opened in 1941, The Marine Room quickly became famous as pounding surf created dramatic displays against the restaurant's windows. For more than half a century, celebrities, world figures, residents, and visitors have made it a habit to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Pacific and exceptional cuisine. We invite you to San Diego's premier dining destination and experience how each tide brings something new to The Marine Room. You’re not reserving a table – you’re joining a 75-year tradition.

A bit outdated and old looking. Not a cozy environment that one expects from such a highly priced restaurant. Views are great.

It was our first time eating at The Marine Room and I was not disappointed. We were celebrating an anniversary and the restaurant was a great venue for that special occasion. We had reservations on the earlier side to ensure a window / water front table. I would recommend booking on the earlier side if you want a table with a great view and next to the window which is within steps of the ocean. Overall the view was excellent, one of the top 5 best restaurants with a view in San Diego.

The wait staff were very attentive, knowledge and professional. The menu was smaller compared to larger restaurants but they offered options that should allow for any palate. They have daily seasonal options for variety. Each dining option was unique with flavor, presentation, and character. Our favorite appetizer was the crab cake. I would order that again and again. In fact I liked it so much I would encourage the restaurant to consider an entree option. The entree options we chose, the branzino (Mediterranean Sea Bass) and the scallops were exceptional. I would rate them 5/5 stars! They treated us to a nice complimentary desert for our anniversary. They must have read the remarks in open table. Very nice touch!

Overall we had a great time and will be back again. The cost is on the high side but the value is good considering the quality, venue and service.

It’s great that in the middle of the COVID 19 crisis you can get an awesome meal with a fantastic view!
And the tables are really spaced out which means that you can relax a little and enjoy the experience at its fullest.

Each time we visit the San Diego area we make sure that we visit the Marine Room. Not only does the location provide an interesting view of the ocean but the food and service are outstanding. We have always had a very relaxed, dinner with no time pressure with very knowledgeable servers and food that is always superbly prepared and presented. We highly recommend the Marine Room.

Any opportunity to go to the Marine Room is a must. Their service staff is very attentive and friendly. The ambiance in the rooms is a comfortable setting and the view is up and close with the Pacific !
Our appetizers, steaks and seafood were superior.
