What a special place for a special date or event! The food and ambiance are truly excellent. The service is attentive, but not smothering. I'm still getting calls from my party to tell me how much they enjoyed the evening.
As always, lovely experience all the way around.
Food is excellent with exactly the right portions. Prices have risen somewhat from our last visit. The 4% surcharge to offset their wage increase is insulting. I reduced our usual 25% tip to 20%. Sorry staff.
Waiters were very nice! Food was great. Amazing views.
By no stretch of the imagination would I be considered a foodie. However, I experienced flavors at The Marine Room that I had never encountered. And the service rendered by Edgar was supreme!
We dined at the restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. The price is a bit too steep for us to consider going for anything but a special occasion, but if you want to be guaranteed a wonderful special occasion, make sure the The Marine Room is on your agenda!
Thanksgiving
Delicious food in a gorgeous setting.
Spectacular ocean view. Delicious entrees. Great service. This was our first time at the Marine Room. It was Thanksgiving. We were seated promptly. Everything was wonderful, and we enjoyed it immensely.
Thanksgiving dinner, so the reservation was about 20 minutes behind schedule. But our server provided the wine on the house. Very nice gesture.
The only negative thing I had to say was that it took a while to be seated for our reservation but my boyfriend wanted to make sure we received a window table, which we did. I didn’t really like how the bar was so low but we were standing, not sitting. The food and service was incredible. Expensive, but so worth it. Will go back again when we can afford it!
Not the same as last Thanksgiving. We had a 4PM reservation and arrived at 3:45 PM. We had requested a window table and were advised that it could not be guaranteed which we understood at the onset. One couple was in front of us at the check-in. This couple had a 4:30 reservation and after some discussion, they were seated at the one and only available window table for 2. When we advised the hostess that we had a 4PM reservation and that we should have been given that table, this was no longer an option. Our table was fine, however, the server appeared to be condescending after we advised her of our displeasure which continued throughout our meal. The server stated that she would advise her manager, but nothing was ever said again about our issue..........not a word......so we decided to just let it go...The food was just OK. Not sure we will be back anytime soon...
Great Thanksgiving dinner...
I don't know where to begin. If management would like to contact me, I would share my experience.
We had Thanksgiving lunch and the food, the service and ambiance could not have been more perfect.
What a way to enjoy a day which can usually feel rushed and not always memorable. the Marine Room will go on our list of places to enjoy a special meal
Best Thankgiving turkey dinner in my life (sorry, Mom). Excess quantity was replaced by innovative tastes and flavor combinations not experienced before.
Good food price high then they add a surcharge should just put in price of food
Spent Thanksgiving at The Marine Room. Knew it would be expensive. It was. The view, awesome. But unlike many coastal restaurants, the food here is awesome. Lobster bisque soup and lettuce leaves, incredible! Entree; filet mignon and the osso bucco, both tender and tasty. Dessert was pumpkin torte, just fantastic. I will have to start saving for my next trip and it will be worth it again.
I always loved the Marine Room. The food was absolutely marvelous. Aaron was like a typical French waiter. Elegant, serious and knowledgeable.
The view worth’s a million $$
Our group of six were served excellent cuisine with superb service. The adjacent beach /surf view was lovely.
Great place for special occasions, great ambiance specially when it's high tide when the water is by the window. The food was great, the lobster and steak are cooked perfect and has good portions. The desserts are amazing. Our waiter was great, he memorized the menu like he's the chef, very impressive. All in all, we had a great dinner and we will definitely put this place on our recommended list in San Diego.
Amazing! We enjoyed every bit of this experience. Too notch dining and waiting. Bathrooms look a bit dated - that’s my only gripe : )
Wonderful experience! Great food, awesome service and a gorgeous view!
Salad was not properly washed & had sand. Tried to compensate by offering a desert for us to share. While a nice gesture & everything else was great, nothing is ever going to make up for the feeling of your teeth hitting small rocks in your mouth. Disappointing, especially based on their high prices. They need to do much better & reduce prices.
Had a date night with hubby just to celebrate us.
The food and ambiance were wonderful! We had a beautiful table right by the water. It was a lovely, memorable evening.
We have been going to the Marine Room for over 40 years and it is a wonderful experience every time!
The service in the bar was not adequate for the number of clientele present. Patrons in sweatshirts and tennis shoes was disappointing to see.
Very disappointing. This restaurant need a complete update. It seems that they are still in the 80’s.
Couldn't have been better and was the perfect way to celebrate our friend's 70th birthday. First, we had the best table in the house and it was high tide when we sat down. Our server was personable, attentive and knowledgeable. Every course was not only a work of art, but so delicious. We all raved about the flavor of the vanilla butternut squash soup and the appetizer of mushrooms in a little crock was outstanding. The surprise dessert for the birthday girl was a wonderful sampler of the items on the menu and looked beautiful. My husband and I have dined at the Marine Room many, many times and were so glad our visiting friend from the east coast was able to enjoy the experience.
It was my first visit to your restaurant and it was totally worth the trip. I live in the Temecula Valley and drove down south for a dinner date and we will definitely return. It was just amazing from the moment you walk into the lobby area and the views take your breath away. The food & service was top notch and we couldn’t of been happier.
Aniversary
I think this was my 4th time here. The windows on the ocean remain amazing. But the smell from the kitchen leaks out into the dining room, and the food, while, very good, isn’t worth the price.
Iconic area restaurant with well-trained staff demonstrates what they all should aspire to attain.
Presentation and service great, lobster was not very hot when served, only complaint!
Beautiful view. We arrive 15 mins. erly and they make us wiat until the hour we resered, eventhough the tables were empty. We asked for a champagne bottle and they leave it on the table ínsted than in ice.
We have eaten here several times and enjoy the views and the food is good. The service is excellent although getting a drink at the bar before we were seated took about 15 minutes and their were only two other couples waiting to get a drink.
As usual the meal was very good and service was good.
When we got the bill I was disappointed to see an unexplained 4% surcharge and the Caesar salad for two for $21 apparently is not a Caesar salad for two it is in fact a Caesar salad for one and if you want it for two people it’s twice as much or $42 for the salads.
Now I admit this was a delicious salad but for $42? I don’t go to Marine Room as a way to save money. I expect to spend a couple hundred dollars on food for two, I object to the unexplained “surcharge” and a salad that costs twice as much as the price listed on the menu.
I went to enjoy an anniversary, the views and have to a good meal, the nickel and diming of the customers really distracts from that. I will probably not return because I will feel the need to be on gaurd for what other way they will be trying to stretch the bill.
Beautiful way to celebrate my daughters birthday. We have been numerous times and this time was excellent as expected. Caesar Salad made at table is lost art but still practiced here.
Excellent food, service, and views.
Nice dinner 👍
Very nice! Excellent food and service. Expensive but you get what you pay for!
