The Marc Ratings and Reviews
You can order anything at the Marc and be sure it will be some of the best food you've ever eaten. Whether you order off the menu, or from their multiple specials, it's always consistently amazing. On my recent visit, between three of us, we ordered: Appetizers: arugula salad, Caesar salad; Main course: duck breast, entrecote frites (steak), and a fish special. Everything was melt in your mouth amazing, tender, juicy. Even the frites (fries) were the best fries ever!! We also had dessert, including the chocolate mousse which was not super sweet like you might expect, but such a wonderful texture and pure chocolate flavour.
The service is always so great and friendly as well. It's not a cheap place to dine, but great for special occasions. I've been to many of the great fine dining restaurants in the city, and can definitely say the Marc is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton.
The Marc is our favourite place for a special night with friends and family. The food is always excellent, we have never been disappointed. The wine list is terrific - ask Patrick for a recommendation. Service is top notch - professional, well timed, helpful, courteous. Doris and Patrick are wonderful hosts who make everyone feel welcome. Great value and great place for an evening dining experience.
For me, there is a certain amount of guilt when you haven't been back to a restaurant in a while. I should not have been apprehensive. Patrick and Doris welcomed our group with warmth and grace. Our server Louanne was deft and efficient, and also equally knowledgeable about the food and wine list. Nothing disappointed. The room hummed with diners who were excited to be there, enjoying the fine meals prepared by the skilled staff in the kitchen. Great evening - will be back - and recommend The Marc without hesitation.
Lovely French restaurant just slightly off the "beaten paths" in Edmonton.
We've been there this week for a working dinner, very pleasantly surprised about the excellent personable service, the atmosphere and the limited but exquisite selection of freshly prepared food - loved the international flavors with a clear and authentic French touch.
Will go again and definitely recommend to colleagues and friends.
Absolutely loved to food, steak was incredibly done and the service was amazing. Joshua was our server, and very knowledgeable. The atmosphere, however, was less than desirable. It was so loud, I could not have a simple conversation with my partner across from me. Also for a higher end restaurant was disappointed with the more than casual dress.
This restaurant has been on our wish list for a long time and finally made it on a fine Saturday early evening. We booked a table for 2 and on arrival, were seated right at the entry way. We were a bit disappointed since this was comparable to being seated close to the kichen door. We had a brief chat with owner Patrick Saurette and waited for a few minutes for our waiter, Josh, to come over. Josh speaks very quietly so it was a bit difficult to understand him at times.
The menu doesn't have a large selection which is a plus. We began with the creamy potato soup and tomato salad. Both were delicious although the tomatos were scarce in the tomato salad. We also felt the croutons were on the large side so a bit difficulet to chew. We chose the lamb chops and ribeye steak as our mains. The lamb was served with carrots, pearl onions, peas, pea shoots and yam puree which was delicious, the lamb itself we thought was a bit bland. The steak came out with foie gras butter, so very tasty, and served with fries truffle aioli. We agreed the ribeye was the best choice of both dishes. Dessert was Beignets with a caramel and a cream sauce. These were so good and worth every calorie.
The restaurant is very open and all tables are close together which we're not fans of however we had a great time in spite of where we sat or maybe because of it. Our only complaint was the very quiet tone that the waiter used. We honestly couldn't hear the first things he said.
The evening for two was $200 including a bottle of wine. And worth it for sure!
