The food is not good, especially for the price. And for a wine bar, the by glass selection was poor and the wine I chose tasted like it had been open too long. I won’t be back.
Great food and very friendly staff.
Big drop in overall experience Wine list was terrible
Table was wobbling and the server looked like trash but food was great…
Fish was undercooked and then I sent it back and it was overcooked. Wine was short poured. Service was similar to casual fast dining. Our bill was not correct. We were overcharged... The waiter charged us for a pork dish that wasn't on the menu and also charged the incorrect credit card for our drink order. Probably won't be back.
It was my nephews 29th birthday. The food was good, unfortunately it was not excellent however, the special dessert prepared for his birthday was very kind and delicious. Our server was good and attentive.
A wonderful boutique restaurant. Staff you won’t be disappointed!
Ambience was nice. The food was pretty good. It definitely could have been hotter though. The bisque and risotto was room temperature like it had been sitting out. Service was excellent our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable of the specials.
My wife and I had not been here for over 6 years, and it was as we remembered it. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the overall experience and look forward to visiting again.
Food was incredible - highly recommend when visiting OKC
Underwhelming Anniversary Dinner Review: Old-school ambience, candle light and quiet corner to ourselves (Nice). Appetizer: First impression, why is this bread cold? Crab Cakes: Not cooked to my liking, too mushy on the inside, like the consistency of tuna salad. Lobster Bisque was fantastic, though! Wish it was served with warm, fresh bread. Dinner: Wife ordered the seafood pasta because it had a lot of seafood but the scallops were undercooked and most of the mussels and clams were empty, possibly they were over-cooked and came out in the stock. Would you enjoy pasta with empty shells? I ordered the filet medium-rare and was clear that I did not want to see purple in the center. I got purple in the center. The undercooking theme extended to the green beans, which were served charred but still too tough and chewy. Loved the whipped potatoes, though! Overall: The ambience and staff were great, the food was not. We came for the food and left completely underwhelmed.
The food was excellent. The staff is extremely friendly. Our waitress, Drew, is the perfect combination of helpful and attentive but allows you to enjoy your meal without hanging around your table constantly.
Great service and wonderful food.
I hadn’t been in years and was so glad I did go. Food was great and the level of service is just amazing. Definitely will be going more regularly. Loved it.
Amazing choices and quite a culinary experience!!! Best service from attentive staff ! Amazing wines! Better than I have in NY!!!!
After being seated and finally being able to place an order for drinks, wine, it felt like an eternity for them to finally arrive. Would have been nice to at least have something to sip on while browsing the menu for so long before our orders were taken. We could see the kitchen from our table and watched many orders sit out in the window for a very long time, 10+ minutes before going to their table, felt like the kitchen had some timing issues to work on. Our steaks were over cooked. Well done steak for a medium rare order is quite disappointing. They took it back and fired up a new one, but it kind of killed the experience when one person had to sit without food while the other chose between being rude and continuing to eat so their food wasn’t cold. By the time the new steak came back it wasn’t even enjoyable sitting there any longer and we just wanted to leave.
This was a re-schedule of our Valentine’s Day dinner which was, of course, cancelled by the snow. Our dinner was delicious and the service was excellent. The special was surf and turf and we both chose it. The pre dinner cocktail was fun, and although the restaurant was full, we did. It feel crowded and we felt like we had plenty of privacy.
While the food was good, the overall experience was very disappointing. The tables were too close and within two feet of each other. The service was very slow and the host, manager and some servers either had their mask under their nose or around their chin. We were so anxious to get out of there that we left wine in our glasses.
The food was good, but the service was poor. Waiter went missing after serving our appetizer for 30. Then came back to take our food order!
This is one of our special occasion places. The food was outstanding. The atmosphere is very nice. My wife and I always enjoy The Mantel.
Although I have often eaten here when I'm in OKC, this time it wasn't as good as I remembered. Most of the food was good... but the filet steaks were tough and overcooked. On the plus side the manager cooked us new ones correctly. On the minus side the meat was still tough.
It was just okay nothing special no extraordinary service or atmosphere
Great food and atmosphere. Enjoyed the wine and fish.
Slower side on food, but not too bad. The scallops were great. Steak was a little over charred.
The crab cake was mushy with not a discernible piece of crab, the lobster bisque was absent of any pieces of lobster and both were warm at best. That’s the good part.
I ordered the Blackened Halibut while my wife ordered the tuna they had on special that night.
The halibut was so over cooked it was dry and lacked flavor. My wife’s tuna had what looked to be a beef gravy covering it and was hideous. Both meals were slightly warm, the potato sides were so cold they had set up. Two very small samples from either of us and we knew we would not eat this food.
We told our waiter about our food and he was very apologetic, it didn’t seem like the first time he had heard this. The waiter told the manager about the meal but the manager just kept walking by our table as if we did not exist.
The waiter asked if we wanted new meals but we declined on the basis of what we had seen already.
We were not charged for the meal, only the drinks we had ordered. We went back to the motel and and ordered a pizza for supper.
We had planned on a nice night out and a great supper but that obviously did not happen.
Wonderful food, wonderful ambiance, wonderful service, wonderful experience!
We got the confirmation email for our reservation. When we showed up for the reservation there was a paper on the door saying that it was closed due to weather. Never got a cancellation email. They were open earlier in the day which is why we thought we would try it. Luckily red primesteak was able to get us in without a reservation and it was excellent. Based on other reviews of this place I would bypass it anyway.
I made the reservation to celebrate Valentine's Day with my husband. No where on the website did it say there would be a limited menu. We did not want to spend $75/person for a meal that was not what we wanted, so we chose to leave. Given the high demand for reservations on that particular night, we were unable to get in anywhere for a romantic celebration. Due to the Mantel's poor advertising informing patrons of what to expect, our Valentine's plans were ruined. You should not be charged 4 star prices for 1 star service. Highly disappointed.
I ended up not going, but I will say I was not a fan of being asked 2 weeks prior to my reservation if I would be using the fixed menu or standard menu. I don't know what I want to eat 2 weeks ahead of time. When I said I was undecided, the person said they will cancel my reservation and try again once I decide. I understand it makes planning valentine's day weekend easier for the restaurant, but I really didn't like how it was handled.
Real Chefs ! Real Food ! and they can accommodate your request ! (my wife is a vegetarian)
Loved it. Food was amazing, especially the bananas foster. All staff were friendly. Setting was intimate.
We arrived at our reserved time and were met with a staff that was on top of the evening. Our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Our server Brigham was attentive and knowledgeable. Management was also appropriately attentive to the guests. The food was (as usual) extraordinary. The evening was just what was needed after a long frazzled work week. Highly recommend.
Went to The Mantel for the first time with some friends. The food was good, but not great. I was VERY disappointed their online menu didn’t reflect their actual menu. I understand with COVID, this can happen. But, it’s my opinion the restaurant should keep their menu updated online to avoid this. I had planned on getting the rack of lamb, but this wasn’t an option. They had a lamb shank, but it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. The atmosphere wasn’t up to par with the prices. The most disappointing thing about the evening was the creme brûlée. That’s my favorite dessert, but it has a weird fishy taste to it.
The staff were very accommodating and friendly. My steak was done perfectly!! I would highly recommend. Our only complaint was it was very cold in the restaurant. Thankfully , they adjusted after someone asked them to.
The mantle is extremely outdated. The patio was in disrepair. The food was mediocre at best and the price of the food was too high for quality and portions. The waiter was nice. The cocktails were something that my grandmother would have ordered 10 years ago. They need to get current with their menus or they will go out of business.
Always had a good meal. Like it a lot.
Just don't go. We were very disappointed. First they didn't have any beer. Then they literally only had one bottle of Rose wine (served room temperature) in the entire restaurant. Our friend ordered a Mojito but they didn't have any Mint. The service was LESS than adequate for a restaurant of that quality. It took forever to get all of our appetizers. We had to ask for the rest of our order and then the waiter finally brought it as if he forgot. The food was good but when I am eating a $300 dinner I expect the service and drink menu to be up tp par. Also I forgot to mention that for the first half of our dinner the woman's restroom was out of order and we had to use the men's. Gross!!
Always have great service and great food when we dine here.
The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent.
This place has gone down. The carrots were hard, they don’t have banana foster which they are known for and the waiter stepped on my husbands foot three times because they don’t social distance the tables. No hand sanitizer and the toothpicks were loose with plastic wrap. Just sad to see this place going down. Hope after COVID they get back to the old Mantle.
