The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek Ratings and Reviews
The building is historic and beautiful. We were seated immediately (had reservation). A little tight in between two other groups. There is individual seating available, but was busy at the time. Difficult to hear conversation or speak with people at my table. The Tortilla Soup was one of the best. Steak a little over done. Good portions. The bar was standing room only because the music was great. Great place to meet people, or have an after dinner drink.
We visited the restaurant to celebrate a birthday.
The staff and their service were impeccable. From the bartender in the tavern to the chef, table staff included, they were attentive without being intrusive. They seemed genuinely interested in tending to our table.
The good was good, including dessert.
I really hate to dis The Mansion but I have to say our meals were not to standard and certainly not to theirs. Service and ambiance were outstanding, but our meals were not up to par. I ordered the filet medium and my lovely date the scallops. I'll start with the positives, her dish had great presentation and the scallops were cooked perfectly. The overall flavor was nice but frankly my favorite Asian restaurant has curry scallops that certainly don't compete on presentation but is just as nice at a third the price. Then there was my filet. It started as a very good piece of meat that was overcooked in the kitchen and dry. I ordered it medium and it was well done. It was also very dry, I had to wash it down with their overpriced wine at like $30/glass just to swallow it. The mashed potatoes were creamy and good, but a $58 small filet (and $300 dinner for 2) should be great if not memorable. Best part of my meal was the spinach. I can think of a dozen good steak restaurants that would put that to shame! Now I could have complained and I KNOW they would have made another but we were in a hurry and I was enjoying my date. Not sure we'll be back nor can recommend at this point. Perhaps we will give them another chance someday.
On previous occasions we have been very pleased with fine dining at the Mansion. However, this last visit was disappointing. The largest problem was with the menu. The tasting menu was exactly the same as our previous visit. No innovation and no attempt to incorporate fresh seasonal offerings. The state of the art in today's best tables is a focus on seasonal freshness. It's like the chef only knows a given set menu. Now if the food was truly outstanding, possibly I would overlook such a fault. But sadly, most of the items on the tasting menu were just adequate and the venison was below adequate. The wine pairings were solid but not presented or explained well and we didn't see the sommelier until the last course. When she did come over her interaction was short and terse. No interest in engaging or addressing any questions I may have had. Possibly she was having a tough day or maybe the wedding up stairs had everyone off their game. Regardless, when you invest in a nice dinner occasion you should have your expectations met. We will give the Mansion another visit, but I will certainly scrutinize the menu before I make reservations. If it's the same old same old, I will just take by business somewhere else.
We went for Sunday brunch and found it to be very nice. The food was good but not terrific. My eggs undercooked where you could see the whites in some part were still clear instead of white. The presentation was nice as I always photograph the food at nice restaurants. The brunch menu was a little odd, like doing Eggs Benedict with brisket. I consider myself an adventurous eater but this just missed the spot. I also think the food came out too fast. If you live nearby or want a pretty restaurant it’s a good choice, although a little expensive, but not worth a destination meal. P.S. I think the Sunday breakfast may be better that brunch🤷🏻♀️
Food was not good with what I paid for. I had red prawn like shrimp with rice for appetizer and scallops disk for dinner with a glass of white wine. Server was not that good either for this type of high end restaurant. We only saw him twice, he came when food came out and when we paid the bill.
The mansion is always a reliable fine dining destination. Unfortunately, the food is not very inventive these days. The service is polished and friendly, and it’s a lovely location. Overall it’s a good restaurant that won’t disappoint, but it’s no longer the great restaurant it was in the past due to the “ordinary” well prepared food.
Chef Tom is genius!! My friends and I had Chef Tasting menu at the Mansion last Wednesday. It's an Experience!!! We were surprised by not only all the dishes which were prepared just for us but also lovely imported and domestic wine paring!! Ray, our host, took very good care of us. He made sure that our night was the magnificent one!!!
The setting is lovely and the service is wonderful, but the food is just okay and overpriced for what it is. Unfortunately, we even sent a plate back during the meal since it was not cooked properly.
I would recommend for desserts and/or cocktails, but go someplace else for dinner
I have always loved this luxury property and the restaurant. I was visiting Dallas and wanted a special place to enjoy brunch and quality time with my sisters for our annual sister weekend. This was the perfect location. The brunch was fantastic, even if their grill was out of service so no pancakes or waffles during our visit. However, the ladies enjoyed all of the other options which covered all of the regular hot breakfast plates plus salads and entrees featuring fish, chicken, beef, and a pasta. I was even able to enjoy a gluten-free french toast. We enjoyed our time nestled in the covered breezeway in between the restaurant and the outdoor patio at a large round table with exquisite lighting features. Truly a memorable Sunday afternoon in Dallas, you will not be disappointed.
Very pleasant experience, my wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at this beautiful location. Despite having to reschedule multiple times due to our situations; they were very accommodating as welcoming when we finally showed.
Will definitely go here again.
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary here and we will be going back. We both tried the tasting menu with the wine pairing. The food was a heavenly experience and the wine was paired perfectly. It was a romantic, beautiful ambiance that made our night so special. The wait staff was on point - very polite, attentive, helpful, but not overbearing in any way. Hostess let us explore the area before they opened and the different rooms are architecturally striking and beautiful. This was an amazing experience that we recommend to anyone wanting a memorable special occasion.
We took our son and daughter-in-law to the Mansion restaurant for brunch on Saturday to celebrate our daughter-in-law's birthday. We have been before for other celebrations and as usual, we were not disappointed! The ambience, food, drinks and service were completely perfect! This remains one of our favorite special occasion gems!
