The Manor - Terrace Lounge A la Carte Dining Ratings and Reviews
Manor was disappointing. 8pm reservation - sat before valentines day - special evening out. arrived at 745 - no hostess - waited for more than 5 minutes for someone to seat us. Service was incredibly slow - 2.5 hours for app and entree. Table next to us was left dirty the entire stay - no one bused or cleaned it up, another table on the other side was similarly left dirty. Ordered Stags leap Artemis for first glass of wine - $25 a glass. Finished that off well before appetizers arrived. Wanted to order more - but no one was available to take the order - restaurant was not very full. Ordered 2 other glasses of wine - did not get these for another 25 minutes. No refresh on the bread - asked 3 times for more bread. Appetizers was OK - oysters and escargot, lobster bisque - bread would have made it better. Entrees were OK - had chateau briand (sat special) and salmon. These were good. Nothing innovative, but good standard fare. Ordered dessert - no creme brulee? There are only 8 desserts on the menu- 3 of them sorbets/ice cream. No creme brulee on valentines day weekend? Told the waiter we were not happy. Chef came and spoke to us. Asked that we speak to GM, we did not want to take any more time there. total check - valet and coat room tips was $250.00 This was not a $250 dinner experience. I paid the whole check and tipped 20%. Another odd thing was that given the grounds and landscaping of the Manor, the blinds were closed at our table and the others in that section. Why? Not going back anytime soon. Very disappointing.
Second time here and it does not disappoint. It's incredibly romantic and perfect for a special date night for a la carte dining. They have a piano player and he does take requests. The food is delicious and the service is impeccable. Its business casual attire but we dressed up a little extra because the atmosphere is perfect for it.
My sister and I took our parents for their 50th wedding anniversary. We live 90 minutes away so they haven't been there since it first opened and they asked about going for years. The bartender was a little aloof, but the rest of the staff was great. The food was excellent from starters to appetizers. I love, love, love coffee and got the Spanish coffee. The process to make it was amazing and it tasted even better. Great time and will be back again for another occasion!
Wonderful atmosphere with excellent service. Food was perfectly prepared and served. Cost is not any higher than other comparable restaurants. Piano in the center of the room with the pianist playing christmas music. Great way to spend our anniversary. Definitely prefer it to the buffet.
The food was not good, it was served cold and my lobster was under cooked. Our server disappeared for long period of time. Upon arriving the wait to get to valet was at least 15 minuets. Coat check was so backed up we took them with us to the bar. Waited again for bartender to take our order. Very disappointed evening.
Still miss some of the former (and unjustly fired, as I hear) staff, but the kitchen here is still the equal of the top Manhattan places, and considerably cheaper. Had a fabulous meal, and was even able to bring one of my best bottles on a recent Wednesday night. The floor staff still efficient and highly competent, leading to a wonderful night of good food and wonderful service. The reasonably priced wine list has many pleasant surprises, a reason unto itself to come here one night. Pass up the overpriced buffet, and sit in the lovely Terrace lounge for a lovely evening!
Had the opportunity to have my wife's Birthday Dinner with our family at The Manor. The decorations were beautiful, the decor warm and just an overall great experience.
Service was attentive but not intrusive, menu was interesting, but overall the drinks and food were over the top in quality.
I sometimes forget how good The Manor is!!!!
We loved the Manor years ago, but it had lost it's "luster" for food and service. We saw a recent article that recommended the food, and decided to try the restaurant again.
The food was decent, but still not like years ago. It seemed that the food is a bit tired with little creativity. The service was just fair, too. The Manor may be great for weddings, but I suggest looking elsewhere for the dinner experience.
My husband and I went to the Manor while visiting N.J.. It was kind of a "going back in time" for me since I spent many a Mother's Day and Easter, when I was between 4 and 9 back in the 60's when my grandfather was the head Banquet Manager. I wanted to take my husband there since he has heard me talk about the restaurant over the years let alone he has heard so many rave reviews from strangers when I had mentioned the Manor in conversation. It did not disappoint. It was perfect. Quiet, romantic. My husband is a "foodie" so he was quite impressed with the menu and presentation of our dinner. The overall appearance of the Manor was as beautiful as could be. The staff were very kind and thorough with their conversation and attention to our needs. I had brought a newspaper article of my Grandfather and the senior Mr. Knowles from the 60's that my mother had kept over the years to share with the restaurant family. One of the sons could not get over the age of the article and was eager to share it with his dad, now 95. Upon leaving, my husband said to me and everyone else, "We will back"...

Bringing my grandkids , ages 11 &12, getting dressed up, sharing a table side caesar salad, having a beautiful view, piano, birthday beautiful desserts with an outstanding wait staff was so memorable. Young people need an upscale experience sometimes. We know why The Manor has been around a long time!
We have been coming to The Manor for many years for special family celebrations. Last Sunday we were celebrating an 85th birthday. From the time we were seated until we left we were disappointed. The level of service was sub par. The appetizers were served haphazardly. There were six of us on a Sunday evening. We should have all been served at the same time
This created a level of discomfort that continued through the main course.
One of the diners specifically discussed her dairy allergy and was assured the chef would make adjustments to the entree to ensure no dairy products were included. Unfortunately this did not occur. There was cheese on the potatoes included with the lamb entree served to the diner with the severe allergy. If she had not be vigilant there would have been serious consequences. Fortunately for he diner the level of service had been so poor that she did not rely on the assurances of the staff and thus a medical crisis was averted. Perhaps most disappointing was the table side preparation of the Caesar salad
We all looked forward to tasting the salad as we had memories of delicious Caesar salad from previous celebrations
This time it was wilted and tasteless. The maitre d' left early and seemed disinterested. We will not return
As always, our meal was delicious. However, I was disappointed that my leftovers were somehow misplaced. I had a large piece of beef wellington with lots of vegetables left. They tried to make good and gave me some chateaubriand to make up for it. When I got home and opened it to eat it, I was disappointed that there were only a few very small slices of very well done beef in there with no other vegetables. Not what we paid for.
Outstanding service,delicious food. Beautiful atmosphere.
The special ocation was my hubby birthday, i was surprised when the server brought to our table a happy birthday cake & lit candle. Wasn't expecting That .it very much appreciated .
Everything was on point & would 100% recommend to anyone!
While the cost to eat here is not cheap, the ambiance, the food, the service and the live piano entertainment make it worth coming here for a special occasion. The beef wellington was literally mouth watering and amazing. The wine list is fantastic and the atmosphere is so warm and comfortable.
