The Terrace Lounge was a wonderful place to go for a really nice dinner. Food was very good and the service was great.
I enjoyed my dinner at The manor the only problem was the meal was way too salty unbearably salty and the Château Briand was mediocre But the appetizers were very good the fresh oysters and shrimp and also the beautiful tuna tartare. I’ve been coming here for over 30 years and the service is always impeccable I would say the only criticism is that last night which obviously is huge!
It’s unfortunate that they are closing the restaurant for the time being because I definitely will miss it as I miss the Sunday buffet but it definitely needs some renovation.
The Manor is a beautiful location. And it’s really nice inside as well. We went for brunch and it was okay. Definitely not worth what we were charged per person. They have a buffet but you also get to choose an entree option. I ordered salmon and while it was seasoned perfectly it was really over cooked. In the buffet they had an okay selection. No fruit. Lots of cheese, smoked salmon, breads, pasta salads. Some fruit and yogurt would have been nice. They had a plate of sushi which they should definitely get rid of!! The sushi was definitely made a day or two earlier - avocado was brown and rice was hard. Kids station was good.
My kids ordered hot chocolate but they didn’t have it which was disappointing at a brunch place! I ordered tea and it came with a tea bag black tea. No options which was weird. Service was not very good. I waited for over 20 mins to flag someone down to get water and ask for the check. The waiters were very nice but not sure where they were!
We had to ask for butter, jam, syrup and ketchup - items that should have been on the buffet or ready to be served at table if asked (took a while!).
It was an okay experience. I had always wanted to go so checked this off my list but def will not be going back.
Service was slow. Had to ask for bread when it came it was cold and they ask for butter. Salad and entrées are excellent they gave us a complimentary dessert excellent
Overall a good experience
This was just the night out that my fiance and I needed. Just like in French restaurants where one sits and enjoys the atmosphere and good company, we were encouraged to take our time and savour the moment. The staff were all extremely courteous and poised. The dining room was beautiful and elegant. The live piano music evoked a by-gone era. Of course, the food was superb.
It’s an average experience. Only three to four parties dined for the whole evening and that says something.
Nice view, awesome service, and we got engaged there. They were very accommodating with our requests. Thank you!
There is no better dining in my eyes! The atmosphere and food is magnificent, we love it. The only noise was coming from a family of drunk people that were fighting. You can't make everyone behave no matter where they are.
It always used to be a great place to celebrate events like birthday etc. This summer it was not. It looks like all service is replaced by interns, and what is worst of all, the kitchen is replaced by interns as well. So, neither service nor food were on acceptable level. Big disappointment this time. I still hope it will be back after the summer.
As always our experience at the Manor was amazing!! We celebrated our older daughter’s birthday and the food and service was par excellence. They made our daughter’s day with the birthday “cake” dessert and the pianist playing happy birthday. They even made accommodations for our 6 month old by giving her strawberries to enjoy with her pacifier feeder. I appreciate The Manor, an upscale fine dining restaurant for being child/infant friendly because this allows families like us who are foodies at heart the freedom to expose our daughter to fine dining at young age.
My server never brought menus after 20min finally tracked her down, wrong drinks, and coffee at end of meal she brought a fork no spoon. Finally when check arrived no pen luckily borrowed one nearby
The best wine list around. Amazing food as well. Thanks
Needs to be updated
25wedding anniversary, which was held at the Manor. The food was outstanding, and the pianist was superb with his selection of music. I was surprised however at the lack of attentiveness of our head waiter, who essentially stopped by our table on 3 times during our 2.5 hour dining experience. This is not typical of most of our dining experiences at The Manor, and I was disappointed. As an aside, I heard a gentleman in the party beside us mention to his wife “this is the worst service I have ever experienced here.” He went on to say he has been coming to the Manor for close to 50 years, and this was his most disappointing level of service. I know Mr Knowle would never approve if this. Nonetheless, I enjoyed my meal, but better service would have made the evening a “10”, instead of a “7 or 8.
We were married at the manor and have celebrated every anniversary there and it never disappoints. The food is always great as well as the service.
The most amazing food I have ever had. It was too die for!! Expensive but well worth every penny!!
Always an enjoyable place however I wish they would add more fish to the menu. Too much red meat.
Clientele has changed alot, but it's not the Manors fault. Guy next to us was wearing a a short sleeve shirt, in a la carte. I remember when this was not acceptable & neither were flip flops. Some restaurants should try to uphold the formal dining experience for those who enjoy it. Caaual diners have thousands of other options. This guy clearly wouldn't know what business casual means, he was ready for the movies or gast food. Not a high end dining experience. But the food is always fantastic & the service was very good. They did not rush us, thank god, as has happened before. Got served bread with no butter on the table & had to flag them down for it & a couple other things but not a deal breaker. Also no "happy birthday" written on dessert plate, first time that has ever happened & we go every year for my daughters birthday. The filet mignon is incredibly delicious every single time. We will be back.
Overall the experience was ehhh...
Piano in background was nice. Staff seemed uneducated on buffet items and server was unorganized, ima me to advise how a dish was prepared. Probably wouldn't revisit.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with the Romantic Getaway offered by the Manor. Overnight accommodations at the adjacent Marriott and a lovely meal with wines was part of the package.
We enjoyed the appetizers of escargot and chilled seafood platter, Caesar salad, chateaubriand, and banana flambé. The food was superb and the service was impeccable. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Always a lovely dinner.
Elegant service, delicious food. A jacket was not required on the night we visited but most patrons donned them anyway. That's the kind of place it was. A pianist was playing in the center of the room, my wife of 42 years new most of the songs.
The food is delicious and the service was great
The food and the service were great.
Looking forward to my next occasion to have another great meal.
Our favorite spot for special occasions. You get what you pay for, fine dining with class.
The Manor in West Orange NJ is a classic old world elegant dining experience. For thirty years I've been going the food is five star, the service outstanding. Always enjoy the tableside preparation of Ceasar Salad, the real thing...Beef Wellington served medium rare...Banana flambe also prepared tableside. Dining here, is an event. The piano in the center of the circular terrace room provides the old world charm. Some things never change and in this case it's a good thing.
Excellent food and service. Well worth it
Sometimes what you get is worth what you pay for it! We were celebrating a family reunion that might not have happened. The food, the service, the ambiance complimented our mood exactly.
Went for my parents 40th anniversary, who were married here, with a group of 7 on a "Wine Wednesday". Everything was perfect. We've done the old lobster buffet several times, which we loved but is now closed. So we tried the Terrace Lounge instead. Wow, what a great experience!!! Service was outstanding, table was ready on time for our reservation, the food was outstanding, and the ambiance was great. They had a pianist playing throughout dinner. We were not rushed at all and sat for about three hours. Wednesdays you can bring your own wine, which we did (5 bottles!). It was great because the wine we brought would have easily cost us between $800-$1000 in restaurant prices, we paid about $225 at the store. Although we still had a large bill at the end, but you get what you pay for!! Just be aware you need to dress nicely!!! Only criticism is the decor, although beautiful, shows it's age. But then again those old chairs are so damn comfy! Great job to the waiters, chefs, and management, a true classic gem!!!
The ambience was wonderful. You don't see restaurants anymore like this one. The food was excellent.
Service was good but we were there for 3 hours which seems like a long time. It was Easter so I understand, but I think it should have been no more than 2 hours.
The finest and classist restaurant in New Jersey. The food is first rate. The ambiance is unmatched.
I’ve been to the Manor many times for special occasions. It’s always been expensive, so I knew that going in. Even so, I was shocked at the current prices. Average entree (not a lot of choices FYI) about 45.00 I ordered the Rack of Lamb. (55.00!) The meal was two medium size pieces. Ordered it medium, came out rare, but I kept it. Total meal was approximately 5-6 bites.
It was disgusting. I couldn’t find a bite without fat. I’d say the 2 servings were greater than 50% fat. It was a family event so I said nothing. Otherwise I would have told them to take it back. The good news is I don’t want to see meat for a long time.
Food, service, ambiance great but be prepared to spend a pretty penny. We received gift coins which valued $150 & our meal for 2 was double. Steak was perfect, crab lobster cakes perfect, my honey enjoyed the mushroom soup & please dont leave there without having their Irish coffee 😋
It was absolutely the best dinner. We have enjoyed a few Valentine's days there as well. Bon appetit
Food was delicious. Service was outstanding. And staff could not be more professional and friendly. Superb for a special occasion.
What a wonderful evening accompanied by fantastic service. My partner and I chose The Manor for our anniversary celebration. He was so blown away and said it was "the fanciest place" he had ever been to for dinner. We sat in front of the piano and noticed that everyone was made to feel like the center of attention. Servers were accommodating, kind, and informative. After dinner, we danced at "The Dome" for disco night. 10 out of 10 I would visit again. Thank you for making our night feel so special.
Our entire expetience was enjoyable. We chose the right time and really enjoyed the experience.
Thank you for service and life music. It was our first time and me love it. Great service and food.
Everything was excellent. Highly recommend. A wonderful experience.
